Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

A Chance Meeting (Jess!)
Far away from the city of Buffalo and far away from most of the continents for that matter; a little dive in the land down under will be the setting for a meeting of fate. It sure doesn't seem to be a place for such an occasion; a lonely bar practically in the middle of nowhere with solid wood bar counters and chairs. Walking inside was much like walking into a cave until one's eyes adjusted to te dim lights. A television screen flickered and no patron particularly cared as to what images would cross the screen.
But contrary to the usual dismal mood was a couple of bright lights. One was a handsome man of unknown age wearing a black trenchcoat and jeans, animatedly speaking about his travels. A tell-tale scar was barely noticeable just underneath his eye.
A pair of gruff-looking men had been listening to the animated man's adventures since he mentioned his travels in India, though their attention was considerably less than the stranger's female companion sitting next to him. The pretty young thing with flaxen hair listened to his strange stories, unable to tear herself away from his violet hues of his eyes. Untouched before him was whiskey, finest one could find of course. The dive may be small but the quality of the alcohol was superb!
"Ayers Rock is beautiful. It's my first time seeing this firey attraction, I can imagine native people staring at it in the distance in wonder!"
"Yes...wonderful," the woman replied in a dreamy voice before sipping her martini.
The tv was full of snow; the images within it were vague, at best; nobody cared. The regulars (and in a place this distant, this alone, everybody is a regular, unless they're just passin' through) are caught in a bind by the two who are new. One has been described.
Here is the other. He walks out of the men's room; he's still zipping up his fly. He's got raggedy jeans, dark boots, and a raggedy coat; all gray, and with such a collar. He's got a tattoo that curls around his neck; see? There's just the slightest hint of it. He could use a shave; he's got sharp features, foxish; a fine nose, a habitual glower, and his eyes are beautiful. Rough and tumble; rugged; bad, bad, bad news. Confidence, sure; all of that. Indeterminate age. Late twenties, early thirties.
He's got the faintest of smiles on his lips, and walks past the other (and glances at him, once; eyebrows, drawing together), to take his seat up again. Leans into it, carefully,

Re: Chance Meeting
No pain, no gain! That's what the energetic traveler would've bided by! The few patrons that listened to him would become a little upbeat, his cheer infectious not to mention that he would pay for their drinks. Huzzah!
There was a moment he met the eyes of the one that had stepped from the restrooms, one with golden eyes. His blood may have ran cold then melted; his eyes reminded him so much of his own brother, his friend...the villan who had wanted to harm his family. But no, this wasn't the one. That sensation of wanting to destroy him was not present at all.
All the more to excuse himself from the gentlemen and lady's presence, bounding over to the man with the golden eyes. Up close, the energetic young traveler (yes, he lacked the distinct accent) slapped his hand on the other's back.
Once, twice, thrice. Thud, thud, thud! Not a sense of personal space or the good mind to be careful with interacting people he didn't know well enough.
"Hey Stranger! For a moment I thought I knew you. Since you're not him, I'll pay for your drink too!" The young man raised his hand to the bartender:
"Got that, pops?"
In response, the bartender muttered something that sounded like "Yeahsure."

Re: Chance Meeting
The traveler bounds across the room; the stranger finishes his lean against his booth and in the same smooth silk motion sets one boot on the opposite seat. Casual. Nonchalant. Sleeping potential. The traveler pounds the stranger on the back; the stranger winces, cracks what amounts to a smirk, or a smile. Both eyebrows are lifted. He liberates a cigarette from a plain and dented case, and places it between his lips: casual, nonchalant.
"He must be a real asshole, this guy you're moved to buy me a drink 'cuz I'm not him." He pats himself over for a lighter, and inclines his head toward a seat opposite him.

Re: Chance Meeting"He must be a real asshole, this guy you're moved to buy me a drink 'cuz I'm not him."
The younger (appearence can deceive) man stared at him, his animated gestures stopping long enough for the violet hues of his eyes to be visible. A pondering...no, that person was not so bad but it was hard to forgive someone who was willing to bring about the deaths of two of his greatest loves. That moment passed, the lovely young woman gravitated closer to their presence and he shot him a sheepish smile.
"You could say that." He finally said, taking the seat next to him. The theatrical spunk that had left in that moment returned almost immediately. Maybe he just needed to forget about it for now.
"Besides, weary travlers need their sustenance to continue on their adventures! Isn't that right, you two?" He waved over towards the two hulking men and they responded with a hearty shout and gulps of their second-or-third drinks. The young woman giggled, taken by the only two handsome men in the bar at the moment. The young man settled down again, studying his newfound aquaintence before she snapped his fingers.
"Ah! That could be! You know, you seem to be a traveler too, like the enigmatic drifter character in movies or comic books. You even smoke like one."
Re: Chance Meeting
The traveler studies the stranger. The stranger? studies the alcohol that's coming his way, and his eyes are wide, and it's somewhat comical. Chin in the air, all lofty and (drool drop...?) when the glass is set down -- it's gulped gone in a second. What was in the glass, that is. His eyes close; he opens one, when the violet eyed man (boy? Hah) continues. And, yes, he has the skills to do this with cigarette still hanging from his mouth ...
His mien changes, completely. No comedy, this is a serious story. He sets the glass back down (a ring of light in its bottom, and a ring of shadow beneath; a hazy shaft of luminescence, from a swinging over-head lamp), clink. He laughs! Tips his head back, laughs fully! When he's done, wipes an eye, says, "I was a scholar, believe it or not."

Re: Chance Meeting
Humor in the drifter that he laughs and then reveals something the young man did not expect:
"A scholar? Really? I would've never guessed that...so now that makes you half-mysterious then!"
The bartender set another glass for him, the liquid a deep caramel color too dark to see the distorted image of the bar through the glass. Now comes another wonder, why would a scholar be in the middle of almost-nowhere? The young lady rested her elbow on the table, ready and waiting to hear their words.
The young man was always careful, choosy in his questions. Always had been, the polite side that his wife had always teased him about. Downing the liquid in the glass and staring off for a moment, he spoke again:
"Travels can sometimes be induced by what one studies in life..." Sage like advice from someone who knew the half of it. "So if I may ask, what do you study? No better place than out here to conduct feild research."

Re: Chance Meeting
The stranger lifts an eyebrow, and glances around at the attention of the small pub. He's rude and irascible; there's a furrow, between his eyebrows, as they come back together again. For all that, his hair shines in the darkness, purity unbesmirched. He lifts up the next glass; holds it up; regards its colour. Smirks, faintly, with what seems to be good humor still. They've an audience, the traveler and the stranger. (Paint them on two cards.)
"Not that it's any of your business, but you bought me drinks; here's payment for them." Yes, the glass in his hand is empty again. He knows how to drink, and to drink hard and fast. (There is a hole inside my heart, where all of the love comes pouring out.)
"I was a scholar of many things; now, my area of expertise lies in - " He grins, and it's difficult to tell that it's a bitter grin, although it is. As bitter as sap, as rose-perfume. " - escapism. I'm an escapist."

Re: Chance Meeting
A rathering interesting, even ironic answer from the enigmatic drifter, not a subject that one would expect from a scholar. The expression that crossed the young man's face was thoughtful, maybe another moment of introverted ponderings. Bittersweet, he noticed it in the golden-eyed drifter's grin...subtle and yet telling, but not quite revealing the story behind it.
Not a familiar subject but a familiar concept...
And then a chuckle from the spirited stranger, leaning his head back to stare at the ceiling. A few lights had blown out, five in all Ianael mentally counted when he had recounted his earlier exploits. The rest all burned bright, trying to make up for the ones that lost their light.
"Escapism. That's compelling." He replied before looking back at the stranger. "Like the one called Houdini."
Maybe the young man felt he had crossed a line in his conjecture. He had always been the careful one who was mindful of how he speaks...opposite of the sweet voice that haunted his mind:
"I like that about you Ian. More polite than an Englishman at tea time!"
How he longed for that dulcet and audacious voice...The young man bowed his head slightly at the drifter, his earlier spirit settling down again in place of a more formal manner.
"Not meaning any disrespect, mind you. I meant more as I can relate, believe it or not." The young man was distant now, watching the bartender pour him another glass of caramel-colored spirit.
"Call me the escapist of those that bind me. Until they are out of sight, I cannot return to my heaven." It was as if he was quoting a line of literature or speaking truth; hard to tell with a sage of wandering.
Re: Chance Meeting
The stranger smirks, again; sharp, razor, easy. Ease. Some people have it. Know it. Live it. Ease. He seems to have it. To know it. Ease. "Yeah. 'Cept Houdini's dead."
The traveller's demeanor changes, and the stranger regards him (gaze, shadowed; hair, such gold, gold enough to buy a place in Heaven), somewhat squintedly, through the newest shot of liquor.
Then he sets the shot down, and smiles. "Eh? A man of my own profession? Well, you want to see a trick?"
He's reckless, now, reckless and bold. He gives the woman a look, that clearly says scram. But since when has this stranger been any good when it comes to getting rid of women?

Re: Chance Meeting"Yeah. 'Cept Houdini's dead."
"Ah, that's true though a fact of life. I suppose that particular analogy was not the most appropriate."
His aquaintence reguards him and all the young man could do was wonder what thoughts circled in the mind of the golden eyed man. His answer would come soon enough:
"Eh? A man of my own profession? Well, you want to see a trick?"
"A trick? Really?"
His eyes lit up at the prospect. Not only polite but also very gullible, even the phantom with the dulcet voice had poked fun of him for that particular habit. The pretty young thing that longed to be near the two men seemed off in her own world, her mind playing with devious thoughts maybe. Human women and men tend to have those thoughts often, as the young man had learned to realize on his many travels.
He laughs, again. "Magic isn't interesting, but I can show you that, too, if you want. Hey," he calls out, after a morose look into his empty glass. Bangs with his fist on the table until the empty glass is re-filled. Now, the traveller said that he would buy the stranger *a* drink, so the rest is going on his tab -- he must have a very, very long tab.
When his glass has been re-filled, he finishes it off in a gulp, tipping his head back, wiping froth from his lips, slams it on the table. He slams his other hand down on the table just after -- and leans forward, pointing with the other hand straight out at the (divine) traveller.
His hair falls into his eyes, and his smile is rather vicious. His eyes are intense. A pair of cuffs dangles from his wrist, and dangling from the cuffs, a set of wicked looking keys, and from the keys a padlock, and from the padlock a chain. Clink, clank -- what else does he have up his sleeve?
He leans back, and holds his other wrist docilely out. "Take one of the keys and lock me up, friend. Trick first, eh?"

Re: Chance Meeting"Magic isn't interesting, but I can show you that, too, if you want."
Magic was not as special as people would percieve it; however it was fascinating to find the conclusions humans come to when the miracles of God appear to them. It is magic, it is supernatural and even bestowed by the "Gods"...such the varience across the people's he had encountered on his many adventures. But that was the way of God's order.
This would be a little different, he realized it the moment the enigmatic drifter pulls a set of cuffs, elaborate keys, a padlock and a chain: why in the world would a drifter carry such heavy things? A mystery, evena humerous one!
"Take one of the keys and lock me up, friend. Trick first, eh?"
"If you're sure..." And the (divine) stranger went to work locking his aquaintence up. It wasn't difficult, using what he remembered from his long forgotten days before meeting the visage with the dulcet voice. Once he was sure that he had the drifter bound tight by all the restraints, the young man applied the padlock; one of his best lock-restraints that he could remember.
The stranger, such gold, gold hair, sounds bored. Jaded. Blank. His face goes long. Yet, he also seems comfortable in his chains, in the cuffs, in the pad-lock; they suit him, those chains, that lock, those hand-cuffs.
"Here." Clink, clank -- before the onlookers can quite realize what happened, the stranger has reached into his shirt, and now holds out a cell-phone, digital time displayed proudly.
The handcuffs hang on his other wrist, one loop forlornly empty. The chains have sagged.

Beep. Beep.
Timer set and ready for the drifter-turn-possible-Houdini.
The younger man couldn't help but to grin; he was pretty well adept at bindings. His previous occupation had sometimes called for such instances where his knowledge of bindings and knots were needed. Instances he would rather forget for this moment of intrigue and lighthearted fun. What a wonderful place this realm was!
