June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
Tucked amongst her other schoolbooks, Adrienne's diary hardly looks like anything out of the ordinary - a plain, leather bound journal with no visible means of protection, nor any sign of what it is. She inherited it from her mother, who inherited it from hers, and so on and so forth - all the way back for five generations. It is well worn, and most of the pages are written on. There are ink stains, water stains, scratches, and other small marks marring the covers, and on the spine is embossed the word: "Diary". Adrienne carries it almost everywhere, and uses it to jot down things from random thoughts to her herbology notes to spells she needs to memorize.
Adrienne's mother was the only witch in the family before Adrienne herself, and the diary was rather full when Joy (Adrienne's mother) recieved it; she quickly fixed that problem, however. Using a few nifty charms, Joy increased the number of pages in the book so that there would always be fifty or so blank pages after the last page written in; essentially, the book would never run out. As well, she charmed the ink to appear invisible to anyone who wasn't a direct blood relation of Adrienne. To discourage anyone from opening it, she also put in place a small hex that would cause the book to beat any reader other than a blood relation of Adrienne over the head until he or she left the vicinity.

The Hallowe'en masque is coming up (well, in 16 days, technically) and I've got no idea what to wear, or even who to go as... or with. I'd like to go, but what's the point if I'll be going alone? And I'm completely dry for costume ideas. Thus far all I've come up with is:
~A Professional Jumper (hey, I'm sure I could get Nanny to send my riding gear up...)
~Quidditch Player? (Mom might be able to get me a good uniform?)
~Book Character - Victorian Era?
~Black cat (alright, not original, but appropriate, no?)
Urg - I'm honestly not sure what I should go as. I'll think about it later, since I've still got to do quite a bit of homework and all of that fun stuff. If this is what fourth year is like, I'm really not looking forward to fifth year, with OWLs and all. Or seventh year! Merlin! The NEWTs would be worse than the OWLs... or perhaps not, since the OWLs determine what profession you can go into and-
Alright, I'm freaking myself out.

I had the strangest encounter yesterday, with this Hufflepuff girl - a fifth year by the name of Alex.
Do you think that I'm too pushy? Or at least too nosy? I couldn't help but notice that she'd written something wrong in her essay (I was supposed to be working on History of Magic, but honestly! Potions is so much more interesting.), but when I pointed it out she got offended. I suppose it must have been because I was younger than her - I mean, if a third year pointed out that I'd got something wrong in one of my essays I'd hardly be thrilled. Really, though, it didn't make much sense to me; I was doing her a favor, if anything else.
I don't know, the conversation we had made me think a bit. Perhaps I shouldn't be sticking my nose in places where it doesn't belong but... Well, it's hard, especially when things are so obviously wrong. I don't think that I'm a perfectionist, but I do like things to be right, even when they aren't mine. I think Alex's reaction just surprised me a bit, because I didn't think that she should have been angry - I was saving her an A on that essay!
Maybe she isn't very good at potions and doesn't care about her marks anymore...
Ugh. I give up. To anyone who reads this in the future, ignore this entry!

Got stupify working. Practiced with Jua. Hit him.
Whoops.
Learned a new word, too. Otoosan means father in Japanese, according to Jua. And I guess he would know, right?
More later, when my hands have un-thawed. Or defrosted. Whichever is more correct...

Guess where I am now! Guess guess! Alright, fine, I'll stop acting so immature and just write out. I'm on the train home! In December!!! It feels like forever since I've actually been home for Christmas so that I'm looking forward to it maybe a little too much. I think I got some strange looks as I boarded the train... but who cares?
I hope that Mom and Dad actually are there and everything. I can see Mom cancelling because of some stupid (crossed out) quidditch match.
Well, it's not stupid, but... it wouldn't be fair. I'm looking forward to this too much. Hopefully fate doesn't -
