Alex Worth
OOC
Name: Mallory…
Contacts: You know…
Age: 16
Code: Hermione Granger
IC
Name: Alexander Walter Worth
Nickname(s): The only person who ever calls him Alexander is his mother, so, naturally, he is called Alex by everyone else. Guy friends, or playful girl friends, might call him ‘Worthy’ as well. A joke some of his guy friends have – because of Alex’s passion for girls – is to ask, ‘Is she Alex Worthy?” as if to ask if Alex likes her (since it seems there are so many different girls he falls for).
DOB: February 14th, 1992
Year: 6th
Blood: Half Blood (Dad is a wizard, Mom is a muggle)
House Preference: Hufflepuff
Why: Alex’s intelligence and creativeness would assume his place in Ravenclaw, but he doesn’t value education, and instead, values pleasure. He’ll put effort into learning things to only those things he finds interest in. You might think him fit for Slytherin, with his witty and charming appeal, and seemingly ambitious nature. But his ambition is to only to a small degree – to get the girl he wants and to get satisfaction from something he finds interest in. He isn’t in the game to win, but to have fun, and cheating is defiantly not his style of playing. So, what about Gryffindor? It is true that he never gets nervous or afraid to speak his mind about something, but its intentions are never to be the hero or conquer over something for glory. He plainly wants to have fun. Finally, that leaves Hufflepuff, and what better a fit? Alex is a loyal, honest, and fair guy, and he can very well be hardworking if he wants to and if it’s towards something that interests him.
Physical Appearance: The first thing you really ever notice about Alex is the way he dresses. – he’s got a great sense of style. Out of uniform, he enjoys wearing daring, vintage, fun, preppy, flashy, formal and well-fitting clothes. Bright colours (he’s defiantly not scared of some pink) and simple patterns (like checkered, plaid, and stripes) are a favourite of his, and the type of fabric he wears varies tremendously: jean, corduroy, nylon, cotton, wool, leather, silk, vinyl, velvet. In his collection of fashionable attire you are likely to find long jackets, blazers, vests, collared shirts, mod suits, pleated pants, plaid pants, tight jeans and a collection of fun-coloured golf and plain tees. His accessories are even more divine, his hats including fedoras, panamas, and flat caps, and his footwear collection including wing-tipped, oxford, and pointy-tipped shoes, clelsea boots, and loafers. He also likes to add in funky sunglasses (his favourite pair being a pair of kiddy-looking, blues brother style ones and low-riders), ties, scarves, suspenders and a leather belt frequently, but rarely wears any jewelry – though, if any, he might wear a ring. He even manages to look dazzling in his school uniform; it’s shiny shoes, pleated pants, collared shirt, vest, and tie are rather fitting to his style. Even with a cloak, he manages to pull things off.
The next thing you’ll probably bound to notice is his hair. He keeps his hair natural, in its dark blonde allure, and straight – perhaps a little messy on occasion. It is generally of short length, given the most important feature, his fringe. His flopped bangs are just long enough to flow to the right of his face, but short enough to refrain from blocking his view. Typically he wears his hair in this fashion, but on occasion, he will style it in different ways, including adding gel to ruffle up his bangs so that they puff up on top of his head, and if he’s in the mood, he may grow a set of side burns.
His eyebrows are a little lighter than his hair, and a little less visible when you take a quick look at him. They are of medium width, and have little thickness, though curve nicely according to his somewhat rigid brow line. Underneath these brows, lies two large iris’ of a pale green, splattered with bits of blue and gray, that it is hard to be definite on what their actual colour is. His eyes, themselves, though a tiny bit smaller than average, are a beautiful almond shape that very slightly rises a bit on the outer edges. His eyelashes, following the trend of his eyebrows, are light, and not of any particular significance to his eyes.
But, the most attractive feature you will find of his long face is his bone structure. He’s got a wide, and perfectly edged jaw line, and high and defined cheekbones that cause his cheeks to hollow in just a tad. Alex’s narrow and straight nose is in perfect portion to his face, and sits at a fair distance from his upper lip. His moderately full lips, of a light, pastel pink, are at a not too wide, not too narrow width. His lips are neither very full nor thin, and much of the time they appear somewhat chapped. His skin is pale and flawless – freckles being very uncommonly found – and is accustomed to burn in the hot, summer sun if sunscreen is not applied. When it comes done to his chin, it narrows in from his jaw, but is of fair width – acute with a small dimple.
His stance is at 5’10’’ is generally postured upright. He has a long torso, but his arms, legs, hands and feet are of rather average length. Alex has a slender build, and though his thin neck, legs, waist, and arms may appear skinny, they are composed of lean muscles from his active nature - he’d rather walk or bike somewhere than sit around all day or drive. His slender side could be also owed to his picky appetite, but for a thin guy, he has a weight of 170 lbs.
When it comes to Alex’s expression, there isn’t a incredibly large variety of them. A glance of him could perceive his expression as somewhat serious, as though he is in deep thought about something. Such an expression tends to hide his emotions, though not intentionally. His eyes, especially, have the essence of deep observation and contemplation, and he always keep eye contact with someone in a discussion. Though, if you were to talk, joke, and have fun with him, you will realize he is very capable of a large smile that amplifies high at the corners of his mouth, and a dim, jagged laugh. He also likes to set in a few sort of playful, joking expressions from time to time, like a dramatic eyebrow raise, a wink, or a surprised gesture. When he’s angry or sad, Alex will typically have a look like any other time, though one, with a narrow of the eyes, appears in deeper concentration. His walk is a slow and of steady place, with his hands rested in his pockets, as he enjoys taking his time through things.
As well, he has a partially low voice that comes in a Scottish roll, though mixed in a bit with his English accent from living in England through much of his childhood. When he speaks, it usually comes out in a bit a serious tone, though those who know him know he’s far from being a completely serious guy.
Another trait that might refer to his physical attributes is his low immune system. He easily gets sick, and on top of that he has asthma, an allergy to animals and peanuts, and a nose that likes to bleed on occasion. A sort of dorky, but considerably cute, quality of his.
Personality: More than anything, Alex’s character traits seem to follow around his romantic persona. He’s a hopeless romantic, he finds and appreciates beauty in everything, and seems to always fall for the next pretty girl that comes strolling by. But, he is always seeking harmonious relationships, so if he’s going with a girl, he will stick with her until something goes wrong or it doesn’t work out. It is then he will seek for another girl, and if there is a particular girl he finds interest in, he likes to express his love through his charming and witty abilities. He’s confident about his approach and shows ambition into getting the girl he wants. He also likes to drag girls in with his friendly, courteous, and adorably seductive actions and words. Alex also loves writing poetry about the love he sees all around him and those he experiences. He believes that everyone, really, is bisexual, and though hasn’t had a personal experience of the sort himself, if it came his way, he wouldn’t be embarrassed of it one bit.
Alex also has a creative intellect. He’s been learning to play the guitar since he was 10, and enjoys turning some of his poems into songs, which he can sing in a rather good voice that is accompanied by his acoustic. He’s an artsy guy, and appreciates beauty, colour, and sound. He adores music, particularly indie rock and pop, being a big fan of the Smiths, the Beatles, and other ‘70s and ‘80s groups. He loves visual arts, and enjoys attending art galleries and exhibitions, as well as traveling – he finds all the different cultures of the world to have their own beauty. He also enjoys luxury and would love if he were able to have all the finest things in life. Alex also has flare for philosophy, anthropology, sociology, and anything that has to do with world issues and how people interact with each other. He’s good at logic, seeing the big picture and picking it apart to solve problems. He’s a strong reader – of more than just love poems - and this interest as well as his traveling experiences with his family, has given him a good awareness and intelligence about the world around him, as well as an admiration for Ancient Runes classes. He enjoys having talks and debates with people on various issues and is able to apply himself in a very straight-forward and persuasive manner. He especially admires intelligence in others.
Next, comes Alex’s sociable tendency. He’s always gracious and friendly, and seems to get along with a wide range of people. He’s never nervous in front of others, is always courteous and polite - especially with the ladies - and makes sure his words or actions aren’t offensive to others. Even in an argument, he is prone to show respect. Most evidently, Alex enjoys entertaining people. He’s never nervous to start up a conversation with someone, about anything, and he loves expressing to people how he feels or thinks about a particular issue. When it comes to music, he has a deep desire to perform in front of people. His music, if he were able to perform them, would be solely to get people [girls] to dance. He loves knowing everyone’s having a good time and he’ll do his part to make that happen.
Honesty and loyalty play a great factor in Alex’s place in Hufflepuff. He never has anything about himself to hide, and if you ask him, he’ll probably tell you anything about himself. Yet, when it comes to his friend’s secrets, he’ll bring them to the grave. He tends to make friends with an array of people, and every single one he’ll keeps his loyalty to. Even with those he doesn’t know so well, he’s not afraid to step in or say something if they’re being put down in some way. He’ll be right by a friend’s side when they need his advice, or just need him to be there. He always seems to find a comforting thing to say, and is somehow able to make people feel more relaxed – he’s a gracious listener and a people-pleasing friend. He finds fights, however, to be petty and silly and never likes to take sides. When you ask him for his opinion of something, or not, he’ll give you directly, with no strings attach, what he thinks fully and honestly - though in the most appropriate manner, always trying to avoid offending. His intentions for such honesty is a natural cause for him, he finds no reason to lie. However, the intentions for his loyalty are particularly to have and keep his friends, because without companions, who would he have to share his pleasures and enjoyments with, and who would he have to be there for him if ever he needs it? He’s patient, as well, because he finds that rushing through things only ruins the enjoyment you get from it.
Altogether, Alex is really just a fun guy. When it comes to love, he’s not even entirely serious. He believes that life is meant to be enjoyed, and that everyone should just appreciate what they have and have a good time with it. He loves doing spontaneous things from time to time, like jump out of an airplane or dance like an idiot, and is always willing to go along with a prank if its offered to him. He has a good sense of humour that can be quirky at times, and always goes along with another’s joke for the fun of it. Most of all, he’s optimistic and enthusiastic about everything. Alex sees the best in every thing and person, and – besides love – is usually free from worry. He never stresses about anything, and he never takes anything too seriously, because, honestly, what’s the fun in that? He likes to ‘stop and smell the flowers’ so to say – just enjoy life. He’s a party sort of guy and loves just living for a moment, and sharing the fun with others.
The list of things Alex hates is very short, or rather, nonexistent altogether. He tries to see the best in life, and even if he doesn’t, he thinks it foolish for someone to waste their time and thoughts on hating a person. The type of things he tends to like, however, are people who take life too seriously, critique and find the worst in things. He also dislikes people who lie, cheat, and unkind to others. Such people, he believes, ruins the fun in everyone, and is unjust altogether. He kinds fairness and cooperation to be the best way for everyone to enjoy themselves and get the best time they can. One thing, though, that really fuses his anger to the point where he isn’t able to control it is when a guy insults or hurts a girl in someway. He takes a rigid and furious stance towards this, and if the guy is not willing to make an apology, more ‘physical’ means might step in.
But just like with everybody, Alex has his flaws. He’s stubborn, to begin with, because he usually wants things to go his way, so that he can enjoy everything he can. When things don’t go his way, it is hard for him to accept it, which makes him moody at times. Secondly, because Alex has such an attracting personality, he expects others to be the same and has a high ideal of people. Though he doesn’t mean to, he tends to base his first judgment of people on their looks, and tends to draw towards the more pretty girls. He likes to think he wants everybody to have fun, but above all, he wants himself to have fun, which might pose as a sort of selfish trait of his. Alex sets himself out to try his best to take pleasure in life, but there are things he expects in others in order to fulfill that. When he gives his loyalty and his effort, he expects to get it back, and if he doesn’t, he tends towards making a fuss about it in order to make things right. When he gives, he expects to receive, and this makes his interest in others almost seem self-serving. This self-serving appearance also comes up in his love life. When he breaks up with a girl, and quickly finds another one because he always feels a need for love to be involved in his life. One of Alex’s final cons is his indecisiveness and lack of self-discipline. Alex takes so much enjoyment out of life, that he tends to forget about the more serious things like deciding what he wants to do in the future or doing schoolwork. He lacks common ambition, so to say. But, when there is something Alex finds great interest in, like music or a girl, he work solemnly hard to achieve his goal. In other words, Alex really only puts his hard work and effort into something he finds interest in.
History: It is definite that Alex has gained his personality, as well as his hair, from his father. Barnett Worth, a tall, dark blonde fringed hair, thin and fairly attractive man is just as hopeless of a romantic as his son, and tends to be a rather charmer with the ladies. On the other hand, it is obvious that Alex got his looks from his mother, Minna Abernethy, whose definite bone structure, almond eyes, and irresistible lips blend well in with her long, blonde hair.
Barnett was, and remains to be a respected, high-ranked wizard, who came from a family of rather artsy wizards and witches (a fine share of muggles too). His charismatic, sociable, and negotiable personality has given him high places in the department of international magical cooperation, and his great and successful work after and during the fall of Voldemort, has earned him a British seat in the International Confederation of Wizards. Minna, on the other hand, is a quiet, sweet, and petite muggle who is a Kindergarten teacher. They met through a wizard friend of theirs (who Minna didn’t know was a wizard, of course), and fell for each other at first sight.
At that time, Minna was living in England, though she original came from a small town in Northern Scotland. Alex was a pure Englishmen, having lived in England the entirety of his life – expect, of course, the various traveling he had done during. They got married after two years of dating, and had Alex on Valentine’s Day. They spoiled him with love, and Minna, being a teacher, was enthused to start her son on all those “brain-expanding” games for babies and toddlers.
When Alex was old enough, he was sent to a private school – his family being of the fairly upperclassmen sort - where he meet many Muggle friends. For a while, Alex was an only child, and spent most of his time playing with friends – as well as going through a period of when he’d have many 5 year-old girlfriends. Though, when Alex turned 6, his mother gave birth to his little sister Aislin, and Alex poured right over her. He wanted to hold her all the time, always tried to make her laugh, and always wanted to make sure she never got hurt.
His family continued to give both Alex and Aislin the attention they needed, and Alex helped his mother with Aislin’s “intellectual” toys. Alex, also, was turning into a fairly intellectual child, excelling most in English and writing activities. With these skills, Alex particularly liked writing little love poems to all his crushes. After Aislin started going to school, Alex’s mother and father would bring them along to their Summer trips to distancing lands like India, America, Egypt, Spain, Italy, Russia, and many others. Never being a very athletic child, he was instead, taken in by all the different art galleries and architect of all the places they visited. All the different cultures ignited a spark in Alex’s eyes and he grew very fond of the adventures.
In fact, it was in Italy when Alex was 8 that he had his first magical experience. He had fallen in love with a girl he met there named Lucia, and wanted to spend his time in Italy with her, but her father forbid it and would lock Lucia’s first floor bedroom window that she would climb out to hang out with Alex. So, one day, when Alex had went to her window to call her out, and the door was found locked, Alex was grieved, and in hope, told her to try it again. It had magically seem to be unlocked, and for the rest of his time in Italy, him and Lucia got to play around the Italian streets behind her fathers back.
Life continued like this – extravagant and so much fun – up until Alex was 9, and his mother had urged the family to return to her hometown in Northern Scotland for a steadier life. There, Minna became a tutor, but didn’t tutor Alex herself. Instead, Alex’s father introduced him to a far more interesting route of lessons – including herbology, charms, and potions. He was amazed at the idea of magic when his father finally explained it to him, and put great attention into his father’s details about the magical world. The year after, Alex had also taken up the guitar, which had been recommended by Barnett’s father – who taught him as well.
Soon enough, on Alex’s eleventh birthday, instead of just valentine’s and birthday cards, he got his Hogwarts letter. Alex’s excitement for another adventure was through the roof, and was even more uplifted when his mother and father took him to Diagon Alley. There, he got to pick out all his robes, school supplies, wand, and finally, a pet. He came across a white and golden barn owl, and picked it out right away, deciding to name it Lucia, after his Italian playmate.
Alex was a little shy at Hogwarts at first, being afraid he was the only one who had just discovered magic two years prior, but that fear was soon uplifted when he discovered he was defiantly not the only one. He was very ecstatic after that, and even more when he got sorted into Hufflepuff, his father’s house. He missed Aislin at great magnitude, however, he made friends of all sorts by the dozen with his appealing and outgoing persona, and even caught the eyes of a few ladies. His best subjects seemed to be charms, transfiguration, and defense against the dark arts.
This summers here on were spent with his little sister, hanging out with old muggle friends, writing, reading, and playing the guitar.
When the second year came, it wasn’t much different from first. Though, this time, he got his first “real” girlfriend, and had a long lasting relationship with her. Close to the beginning of last term, they broke up, and Alex seemed to now be wanted by a good heap of other girls. He kept his cool, and developed his charm more with this. He also developed very good studying habits this year and did extremely well in school.
Third year came up now, and Alex had been introduced to a subject he rather favoured – Ancient Runes. After all this travels and family adventures in different countries, learning about all the different magical runes in the places he has been was particularly enjoyable, and his marks shot up in that area at once. He also started Muggle Studies that year, which was a particularly easy course for him, considering his Muggle growing up. Though, he found it particularly interesting to hear how Muggles were seen in the view of the magical world. This new profound interested in these new subjects, as well as the fact that Aislin was old enough now that Alex would write letters to her using Lucia – who still Muggle private school - drifted Alex eye’s away from girls for once, but not for long.
Alex’s fourth year was one filling with love. He felt himself more attracted to girls than ever, and was writing more poems, playing more songs on his guitar, and digging through various love stories in the Hogwarts’ Library. His friends always laughed at his obsession, but Alex always kept his cool and fun side, and always put time out to hang out with his friends time and time again. His marks were kept up and he took his time to enjoy life as much as he could.
Then, it was his 5th year when Alex had his first “real” heartbreak. He was dating girls on and off, and finally fell in deep love for this one girl, who had torn his heart out. He was broken, but there were many things that made up for it, like his new position as a Hufflepuff prefect, his friends – who were getting closer and closer to him – and, of course, other girls. Though, he never gave up his hard, studious work in school, and kept up his marks.
Now, at his 6th year at Hogwarts’, it is anticipated that they will be more love fiascos than ever as Alex plans to make his second last year at Hogwarts more enjoyable than ever – though, while keeping his marks a priority.
Roleplay Sample: The sky was dull and the weather was getting cold, but Alex was back at Hogwarts, so he wouldn’t have it any other way. The empty basement dorms served as the perfect place, this weekend day, for Alex to lie down on his bed and just…think. He’s mind wondered into its regular course, on a subject you would not in doubt discover Alex to be thinking about – girls. A particular girl, however, had stuck herself out. Carly was a muggle girl Alex had meet over the summer in Scotland. They fell in love, well at least Alex did, but apparently all she had in mind was a summer fling. This stung him deeply, when she told him “it wouldn’t work out”, and the pain still hadn’t been released.
But Alex always liked to look at a bad situation as always coming out with some sort of corresponding, good result. In this case, it was an inspiration. So, Alex opened the drawer of his bedside table, took out a quill, some ink, and parchment, and began to write.
His feelings were wondered all around him. Her missed her, he hated her, he wanted to talk to her, he wanted to put an antler jinx on her. So, low and behold, his thoughts weren’t all that clear, and he didn’t know what to think. So he wrote, and the words seemed to come out a lot easier than the thoughts.
As I took a step number four
Into the close of your tenement
You cast your darkened eyes so low
Said we're cold as the step cement
Alex stopped writing, and contemplated over the words. He had wrote so many love poems before, that coming with the right words was becoming very easy to him. Okay, just maybe he was just too sentimental. He tickled his chin with the feather of the quill and look over the words again and again. The poem needed some sort of catch line. Some sort of thing that really described how Alex was feeling about Carly – and it came to him. Like that. The perfect explanation for it.
But I just don’t know what you meant.
Now, the hard part had been put aside, and there was nothing but quill scratching from then on. The words came to him hastily, and he wrote with that same hast in order to keep up with his mind.
So Carly you may want a pill
We are so cruel to communicate
Without the red stuff being spilled
We must MDMA our sentiment
But I just don't know what you meant
If we were feckless we'd be fine
Sucking hard on our innocence
But we've been bright in our decline
Been left as blackened filament
But I just don't know what you meant
Alex paused again, his deeply thought-filled eyes running over the words. He gave a light smile at his work, but he wasn’t done yet.
'Cause I feel blood inside the vein
I feel life inside the ligament
I feel alive yeah just the same
Same vigour and the same intent
He paused one last time and looked over it, before adding in the last line.
But I just don't know what you meant.
Alex smiled, larger this time. He added the title “What You Meant” as the last touch. He was feeling much better now that he had written down his thoughts and feelings. In fact, he was over Carly now. He wasn’t feeling anything towards her anymore. That’s just how great writing was to Alex. Heck, he may even make a song out of it. And now he could move on, because that’s how Alex worked. He never liked to linger in darkness, he wanted to be out in a bright sunny day, smell the flowers, smell the life, and fall in love again. Now that that weight was off his shoulders, he really could enjoy the fun he was having with his friends, and be able to flirt and charm better than ever.
He carefully put the parchment, ink, and quill back into the drawer before dropping himself back unto a lying position, still smiling, putting his arms behind his head like before, and letting thoughts fill his mind again. This time, about all the different girls at Hogwarts he found cute.
