Anyone tried Eve Online?
Trying out my 7 day trial from fileplanet, getting used it to, and then gonna go try the pvp out. Anyone else tried it, and how boring does it get? Seems like a game that could get really deep, but very time consuming.

Looked really interesting pre-release, then I tried beta and was bored to tears by the end of day 1. It's very pretty, but it simulates space a little too well - huge, giant, massive, empty quiet spaces that you pilot through mindlessly.

Yeah the travel is the downside so far, with over 5000 systems in the game. On the other hand, I can setup the autopilot for a 20 system jump and come back, so I got mixed feelings.

And the game can be pretty much "finished" in three weeks by three people. This means those three people can get the best upgrades and ships and massive amounts of money within this time. Mining isn't that fun, and even though pirate hunting sounds fun, it really isn't that much different than mining other than you're being shot back at. Just make sure you buy EVE cheap if you're still interested. That way once you get to a point of boredom you can sell your stuff for some real cash and make your game fee plus the initial cost of the game. It's an alright game, but nothing that should ever have to be paid for...

Yeah, by the time i wanted to get a BS, and realize the time investment and boredom needed to be sustained to get one, i gave up.
neat.
Its really not a space simulation, but a capitalism simulator.

Played the beta. Nice to see someone trying to do something different, unfortunatly it ranked above Earth & Beyond and Shadowbane...which isn't much, and it kind of followed in the footsteps of Jumpgate.
Re: Anyone tried Eve Online?
Well official today, E&B is dead in september. I think the problem with Eve, is its so damn deep in possibilities that its hard to wrap your brain around things. Also, they need to spread the ship classes out more, and tweak the economy. But the more I look, the more interested I become. Think it will be a good time me over till WoW.
Re: Anyone tried Eve Online?
I guess i'm not too suprised at E&B going down. EA didn't really give it much of a chance. Fun game for a month or two. If they woulda added a lot more content it woulda been great.
Re: Anyone tried Eve Online?
Apprarently the subscriptions were up last few months, and it was making profit, but EA had already gutted the dev team.

As for holding you over until WoW, I thought the same thing around the end of December beginning of January, and now after playing it for less than a month and doing pretty much all there is to do I finally convinced my friends to go to FFXI which was what I had orginally got to hold me over until WoW. Much better game overall, but its more fun if you have other people with you. EVE is just a waste of money and time, because thats all it is, a giant time sink. It looks neat, but it gets old real fast doing the same tasks over and over again.
