Available Classes
The people of Moagara are not quite as cosmopolitan as those of the Lunar Empire and have not developed a need for, or lack the social sophistication to support, certain professions. As such, characters in this campaign are currently limited to the following classes:
Barbarian: In the Wild Lands that crowd the Moagari from the south, small tribes of humans and elves carve out a savage existence among the ever present creatures of Chaos. While just as likely to come down from the rugged hills and forests to raid as to trade, these primitives can be found among the towns of Moagara in small numbers, seeking their fortunes among the "water folk." There are also several known nomadic tribes in the vast grasslands to the west of Moagara.
Bard: Ever present among the Moagari, Bards are valued as story-tellers and keepers of ancient lore. Furthermore, they are commonly the only means for news to travel between settlements that are too often isolated by the ebb and flow of the dark creatures of Chaos.
Moagaran Bards gain 6 skill points per level (+ INT modifier) per level instead of 4. They are proficient with all simple weapons as well as longsword, shortsword, and short bow. Bards suffer no chance of spell failure for wearing light armor, but not medium armor.
Cleric: The Moagari Pantheon represents a diverse array of deities, and individual cults are usually small and lack organization. Their power, however, is real and has a direct impact on the lives of the Moagari. Hence, those who choose to devote themselves to a God are both respected and feared.
Fighter: By far the most common profession in Moagara, outside the common pursuits of trader, farmer and craftsman. This class includes town watchmen, former legionnaires, bodyguards, outriders and huscarls.
Monk: One of the last remaining vestiges of Imperial influence in Moagara, the monasteries of the Sekestian Order have survived the Empire's withdrawal. Tucked away in the remote southern mountains and along the tall northeastern cliffs, the Monks of Sekastia occasionally emerge from their retreats to labor among the Moagari to maintain the law and peace in the former Lunar colony. In a land so fraught with danger and corruption, the Monks are perceived as strange, but welcome.
- In addition to Improved Unarmed Strike, Monks receive the Unarmed Block feat for free at 1st level.
Ranger: The paths between the many settlements of Moagara need to be constantly maintained. The skilled and solitary Rangers take up the fight against Chaos where the reach of the townsmen ends. We'll be using Monte Cook's modified Ranger class, which can be downloaded here.
Rogue: Where there's trade there's wealth. Where there's wealth there is always corruption, thievery and a need to combat it. Individuals on both sides of these secret battles in the shadows fall into this class, where guile, cunning and speed the weapons of choice.
Wizard: True spell-casting Wizards are extremely rare in Moagara. There are a few potent mages that have made the rugged land their home, and they occasionally take apprentices. Who they take, and why, is a mystery. In any event, Wizards are largely unknown to the superstitious folk of Moagara, and the unknown frightens them. The wise Wizard learns to hide his gift from the uneducated mob. Specialist Wizards cast spells from their school at +1 effective caster level.
