Bridge Gaze (anyone)
Emily Rikard was a whole lot fonder of the school now. She was gazing over the edge of the Bridge on this cool Saturday. Her blond hair was blowing, for it was a very windy day.
Around mid July, Emily had gotten and Owl with the results of her fifth year exams. They had shown that she needed to improve in some subjects, but that's not why she was happy. She had managed to make it into N.E.W.T. level in every single class she needed for her future career in the Magical World.
Grinning, she sighed.

Re: Bridge Gaze (anyone)
Henry was walking along the bridge, heading towards the castle. It was unlike the seventh year Head Boy to wander, but he found that he honestly had nothing else to do on that melancholy day.
He looked up as he sensed the presence of another person on the bridge. It was a girl who he knew was a year younger than him. He knew her by reputation, only, for they'd never been formally introduced.
"Oh, hi," he said, as though shocked to find her there.

Re: Bridge Gaze (anyone)
Emily was startled when she heard a voice, for she thought she had been alone. "Oh, hello," she said, turning to Henry. "Windy day."
Getting a good look of him, she said, "You were just made Head Boy, weren't you?" She was pretty sure his name was Henry Bailey. Professor Witchard had mentioned something about him at the feast.

"Hmm?" Henry asked when she mentioned him being Head Boy. "Oh, yeah," he said shyly, blushing a bit. Henry, although proud of his position, was still an extremely shy person.
"Emily, right?" he asked uncertainly. He suddenly wished he hadn't asked, because he'd feel extremely foolish if he'd gotten her name wrong.

"Yeah," said Emily, smiling. "You're Henry, correct?" This Head Boy seemed to be nice. A bit cute, too...

"That's me. Henry," he told Emily with an agreeable sort of nod. "You're a prefect, aren't you?" he asked uncertainly, again afraid of being wrong.

Emily laughed. "Yeah, they made me Prefect last year. I was a bit surprised, to be honest. So was my family, but they were pleased."

"I was never a prefect... I wanted to be, though," Henry told Emily. "I'm sure it gives you a better chance of becoming Head Girl... Is that something you'd want?" he questioned, seeming unsure as always.

"Yeah, I think that'd be pretty wicked," Emily said, thinking about this for the actual first time. "I've actually really enjoyed being a Prefect. It's been an interesting experience."

"Yeah... it's pretty nice," Henry agreed.
A silence then fell between the two, and Henry sighed loudly, as though to clear it. He was unsuccessful. "So..." he then said, again trying to make more useful conversation.

Emily grinned. The boy clearly did not know what to say next. Emily decided to help him out a little. "So, do you come from a all Wizarding family? My father's a Muggle."

Henry was obviously relieved that Emily continued with the conversation for the both of them. "Oh, is he really? I find Muggles fascinating... don't know how they live without magic," he said, shaking his head, almost laughingly.
"But yeah, my entire family has wizarding blood in them," Henry said. "'Cept this one uncle on my mother's side... but we don't really see him much," Henry shrugged.

"Is he a Squib?" asked Emily. Emily found Squibs and Muggle born Wizards very interesting. "How come you never see him?"

"Yeah," Henry said, scrunching up his nose as though he didn't like the word. "He just lives far away, so we don't get to see him. I live in San Francisco, and he lives in New York," Henry explained.

"You're from America?" Emily said, clearly interested. Realizing what she had just said, she blushed. "Well duh, I should have guessed by your accent, shouldn't I?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I am," he confirmed her beliefs that he was from America. "Ah, we've all got different accents... like, if you're from the south there, it's like you speak a whole different language from the people up north. And same goes for east and west coasts," Henry said, shrugging, obviously not phased that she didn't pick up on his American accent.

"Really?" said Emily, interested. "I haven't ever been to America. Is it nice there?" Emily had always wanted to visit what American muggles called 'The Land of the Free.'

"Yeah, it's great," Henry admitted. "I mean, it's true our government sucks and all that... but when it comes right down to it, I wouldn't like living much of anywhere else," Henry told her with a warm smile.

"A lot of governments suck, that's nothing to be unexpected," said Emily. "I've thought the Ministry have made tons of mistakes before, myself."
Re: Bridge Gaze (anyone)
"London," said Emily, "with my muggle father. My mum's a witch, so the neighbors are constantly asking where is she and when can they see her, which isn't often. Frankly I think Dad's running out of excuses," Emily said, ammused.
