June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
Sera scowled up at the sky and then took a breath, not keen on running out into the street in order to get to the Three Broomsticks. She was standing on the porch of the post office, which was on the same side of the street as the Three Broomsticks - and about three or four buildings down. She could cross the street and then zig-zag back and forth, but that would have been too logical a move. Besides, it would probably mean more time out of doors, and she wanted to avoid the rain as much as possible. She was honestly sick of the wet, especially since it felt like it wasn't ever going to stop. It was making heading to herbology terrible, and quidditch practice? Terrible. Between the rain and the mud, she generally found herself drenched and dirty. Sera hated being dirty, but lately it felt like she'd never get all of the mud out from under her hands.
Maybe it was ground into them...
Shaking her head, she took a breath and gave the sky one last dirty glance before bolting holding her hands over her head in a half-hearted attempt to stay dry. Skidding and slipping down the muddy street, she managed to avoid the few people out there, and flew into the Three Broomsticks half a moment later. Her jeans and sweatshirt were both completely soaked, making the jeans uncomfortable, and she was tempted to wring out her clothing just to see if she had an entire lake in them. Her hair, which had been tightly braided, was wet, the loose strands sticking to her neck uncomfortably. Shoving the door open, she slipped inside and quickly found herself a table, nearly elbowing a third year Hufflepuff in the chest to get it - sometimes it paid to pull rank, and as a seventh year prefect Sera often found the underclassmen avoiding her. She didn't really mind, since she wasn't a fan of younger students anyway. If anything, she found it funny - she was hardly an intimidating young woman.
After laying claim on the table, she managed to get herself a butterbeer and settle down, pulling out a large tome from her bag and dropping it on the table in front of her. She'd come to Hogsmeade alone, with the intention of doing some shopping for her mum - her birthday was coming up - but now that that was finished, she had nothing to do. She wasn't ready to head back to the castle, though, and decided to tackle the book she'd bought while she warmed up. After all, she didn't have anything better to do. It was on some healing charms - more complex than episkey, obviously - and while she was interested in them, she wasn't exactly jumping up and down in excitement about reading it, either.
Shaking her head, she positioned herself so that she was sitting in the corner, facing the room. She could see everyone that way, and it made it easy for someone to sit with her, if they wanted to. Considering how crowded it was in the room, someone was going to need to sit there eventually. She shrugged mentally and bent over her book, nursing the butterbeer and hoping that she'd dry off quickly.
It was a nice change from the Hogwarts castle, walking through the streets of Hogsmeade. Even in the torrents of rain, the village looked as pretty as ever. So Tucker had indeed opted for a day out of the castle, and had pulled on his tennis shoes, a pair of jeans, a plain blue long sleeved shirt covered with a black windbreaker that would hopefully help to keep him partially dry. Other than the rain it wasn't necessarily that cold outside. Spring was quickly coming to the castle and surrounding village, meaning all of the rain would soon go to sprouting up the grass and flowers. But right now, all it was doing was soaking witches and wizards everywhere to the bone. You could hardly go from one place to another outside without running, holding the latest issue of the Daily Prophet high over your head. Speaking of the latest issue, Tucker had heard mumbles and rumors that it contained a front page article about their "beloved" headmaster Percy Weasley. Apparently he had been "fired". Well, they hadn't heard anything about it yet. So much for reliable media.
As Tucker strolled down the cobblestoned pathways of Hogsmeade nonchalantly, one could assume that he didn't mind the rain. And at the moment, he really didn't. What could it actually do to him? Just make him wet. If you get wet, you'll get dry! He would probably freeze in the process, but why should that really matter at the moment? One could say that he liked the rain. It was always so refreshing. But even he had to realize that enough was enough, and after some aimless wandering, he decided that he should stop off somewhere to dry off for a bit. Thaw out as well. With each step, his feet squelched inside his tennis shoes, and were becoming frostbitten from the cold. Wherever he went, however, he hoped to Merlin that he didn't run into Cory. He wasn't ready to face her again. Not quite yet. Maybe never. Who knew? Running into her would simply ruin his day as he knew it, and that wasn't something he wanted to look forward to.
After much deliberation, he decided to go to the Three Broomsticks. Maybe get a table in the back and order a Butterbeer. He didn't have to run into anyone if he didn't want to, right? There was a part of him that was enjoying the solitude, but at the same time, he was also extremely bored with himself. What the bloody hell was he supposed to do to entertain himself all day? Hogsmeade was fun, yes, but usually it needed a group of other people to make it ideal. Merlin, there he went again. Relying on other people to make himself happy. That was why he had decided to spend so much time alone, remember? He couldn't rely on other people! Cory had proven that to him. She had made him ride a roller coaster of emotions. One minute higher than life, the other laying dead in the gutter. He couldn't let that happen again. He would rather lock himself in the stables with those bloody blast ended skrewts.
Well, if he saw someone he wouldn't mind spending time with, he would join them. Or ask them to join him. Whatever worked better. He wasn't going to go out of his way to find someone, but he wouldn't deny a perfectly good chance to socialize. Right? Right. At that, he pulled the door open to the Three Broomsticks, wiping his squelchy shoes on the doormat. He figured Madam Rosmerta wouldn't appreciate it if he tracked mud all through her tavern. He had seen a poor unknowing third year track mud into the tavern once, and Rosmerta had made him scrub the floors until they shone again. Cleaning. Muggle style. Ugh. More pain than it was worth.
From there Tucker proceeded to the bar, figuring it would be easiest to buy a butterbeer first, and then try and find a table. He dropped the money on the counter and grabbed the butterbeer when it was presented to him, popping it open and taking a swig. With that, he began to mosey through the Three Broomsticks until he came upon a familiar face, her nose buried in her book. Sera Tilton. One of the most studious and over achieving Gryffindors that Tucker knew. Was there anything that she didn't do? Prefect, Quidditch Player, perfect grades... Merlin. Tucker was a Prefect and a Quidditch Player but his grades were far from perfect.
He gnawed on his lip for a few moments before deciding to approach the seventh year girl. She was alone as well, so a bit of company wouldn't hurt either of them, would it? No. Certainly not. "So uh..." Tucker started, approaching Sera's table with a grin. "That looks real interesting." He pointed at her book with a teasing nod. "First thing on my list to bring to Hogsmeade. Oh bugger, too bad I forgot my copy." There was mischief in his eyes, and it was clear that he was simply teasing her. "Mind if I sit?" He asked, placing a hand on a chair across from Sera.

Sera, despite her reluctance in opening the book in the first place, had quickly found herself absorbed by it, and tuned out everything around her as a result. She was the type of person who could probably read through a nuclear explosion, and only notice that something happened when she finished the book. Generally, she didn't notice someone was walking up to her unless they were practically on top of her, until they cleared their throat or spoke to her. As a result, she was completely startled when Tucker's voice caught her attention, even though she'd been hoping that someone would eventually sit across from her. She jumped, a faint flush rising in her cheeks as she slowed the pounding her her heart. She was going to be startled to death one of these days...
"You scared me!" She gasped out, a grin lurking around the corners of her lips. She wasn't angry, at least not for real - once her heart stopped trying to beat itself out of her chest she'd be laughing.
"That looks real interesting. First thing on my list to bring to Hogsmeade. Oh bugger, too bad I forgot my copy."
Sera grinned a bit, shaking her head ruefully. She was a bit of a bookworm, wasn't she? It wasn't a love of reading, like most of the bookish people she knew, though, and half the time it wasn't even a genuine interest in the subject either. In this case, it was, but usually she read in order to keep up on her schoolwork; she was a perfectionist. At least she knew it.
"Mind if I sit?"
"Go ahead," She nodded, shutting the book with a bit of a relieved sigh, and then stretching. She'd cramped up her shoulders from sitting hunched over. It was easily fixed, of course, but still uncomfortable all the same, and somewhat embarrassing. She shouldn't have been sitting in the corner of the Three Broomsticks by herself (reading, no less) for that long. Really, she needed more friends... Or at least, a bit more of a life. It wasn't like she was socially inept, or even a social outcast, but sometimes it was hard to balance a social life with her busy schedule. Every time she thought she had it all figured out, something came up and she found herself trying to rebalance once more. At least she hadn't been made Head Girl, or quidditch captain, or something equally as time consuming. Prefect and chaser were good enough for her. Thoughts of being a prefect and chaser brought her back to Tucker, who was still across from her; he filled both positions as well. Tilting her head, Sera lifted an eyebrow as she asked,
"Alone, huh?" She hadn't really pictured Tucker to be the type of guy who went anywhere alone, or at least alone very often. People generally came to Hogsmeade in groups, anyway, so it was unusual for most students to be in the Three Broomsticks by themselves. Says me, She thought wryly. Perhaps it wasn't as unusual as she thought, or she was just a strange, strange girl.
Re: Butterbeer! [03.14.09] [ISO: Tucker]
Being alone didn't suit Tucker entirely. During certain situations, it worked, but the conversations he had with himself always turned out to be so...boring. So Tucker, what are you gonna do now? Go on a walk? Sounds good to me. Where are we gonna go today? Down by the lake? Okay, that works. The Lake's a safe place. It's where I always talk to Puck about all of my millions of issues about friggin' teenage drama. Ah, teenage drama is so exciting. Only not. I wonder what the house elves are making for dinner. They better not bring out those pygmy pasties again. They're a little bit...gross. And disturbing. What were we talking about before? Oh. Right. Teenage drama and how it's completely taken over my life. Ugh this sucks. And Tucker, you've gone positively insane. By the way. In case you hadn't already noticed. But no offense or anything. This was the perfect example of why he simply needed to get out more. To socialize. Make sure he still had friends in the world.
His idea of socializing with Sera, however, didn't entail scaring her half to death, and Tucker was rather shocked himself when she jumped in her chair. Was she really that engrossed in her book? Merlin, maybe she needed to get out more too. They could help each other then. Return to sanity, if they were ever there in the first place. "You scared me!" Sera gasped at Tucker, making an attempt to seem mad, but the curl at the corner of her lips gave it all away. The faint red flush on her cheeks was a bit cute though. Blushing. It was so attractive on certain females if it was properly timed and kept in moderation. A faint pink hue was cute, but if she looked like she was busting out in hives, the appeal kind of diminished. Just a little bit.
Upon his gentle teasings about her book, Sera grinned slightly, shaking her head. "Go ahead," she replied, offering Tucker the seat as she closed her book. Tucker took the invitation, and pulled the chair out, ignoring the wretched screech it created against the wooden floor, and sat down, scooting his chair in closer to the table. He took another swig of butterbeer before setting it down on the table with a small clink, returning his attention to Sera. So here he was. Sitting at a table in the Three Broomsticks with Sera Tilton. Maybe he should lose his mind more often. Give him the opportunity to become acquainted with old friends once again. It was never a bad thing, of course. They were wingmen...or...wingman and wingwoman out on the Quidditch pitch. If you asked Tucker, Lianne should have been planning more events outside of the Quidditch Stadium to create a closer environment amongst their team. If you couldn't trust your team, you couldn't play with them. They could use all the closeness they could get.
Sera tilted her head, and Tucker could sense that a question was coming his way. "Alone, huh?" She asked simply. Ah, alone. It sounded like such a devastating word. Loneliness was something that many people couldn't deal with, yet here was Tucker, and there was Sera. Both alone. That had been one of the reasons that Tucker had chosen to approach her over everyone else in the Three Broomsticks. One on one was a lot easier to transition to after spending so much time alone. He didn't want to throw himself into the biggest group possible and get overwhelmed. That would never be good.
"Yes I am," Tucker said with a shrug, taking a sip of butterbeer. "Not to sound apathetic or negative or anything, but I kind of recently decided that being around people all the time is over rated." It was true. But oh, it sounded so antisocial. And Tucker wasn't antisocial. He was anything but for that matter. This was all just a phase. A phase of momentary change that would soon pass. "And once I decided that, I started to drive myself crazy. So here I am," he said with a laugh.
"And you? Alone? Or waiting for some tall and handsome beau to rescue you from your book?" Tucker asked with a wink.

Re: Butterbeer! [03.14.09] [ISO: Tucker]
Sera nearly winced at the screech of the chair being pulled out from under the table, but stopped herself just in time - and was glad that the sound was partially wiped out by a group of fourth year Ravenclaws a couple of tables down who were laughing loud enough to drown the sound out. It was actually rather loud in the room, because of all the students in there - it was a bit of a miracle no one had been booted from the room yet. It wouldn't be long, she guessed, judging from the rowdy behaviour of several boys near the bar. They were getting glared at by several of their peers (surprise, surprise) and were quickly heading toward a tongue lashing from one of the patrons - and then from Madam Rosmerta. Shaking her head, Sera turned her attention back to Tucker as he said,
"Yes I am. Not to sound apathetic or negative or anything, but I kind of recently decided that being around people all the time is over rated." Sera lifted an eyebrow slightly in question, vaguely wondering why before she recalled his... relationship troubles with Cory. Perhaps that was the reason. While she couldn't exactly blame him, she still was a little surprised, but didn't say anything. After all, it wasn't really any of her business, and she didn't know Tucker especially well. They were team mates, of course, and she knew him from patrolling, as well as simply seeing him around the common room - but it wasn't like they were good friends. Really, she wasn't especially close with anyone on the quidditch team besides Dion, which she thought was rather surprising. As a team, she thought that maybe they'd be a little closer than they were - but then, maybe not. She didn't know what the dynamics were like on the other teams; maybe they knew each other as well as the Gryffindors did.
And patrolling? Hah. That was generally solitary, and it wasn't like there were a ton of prefects. She ran into people in the lounge and bathroom every once and a while, but it wasn't like she spent a large amount of time in either place. Shaking her head mentally, she nearly sighed aloud. I need a life. Badly.
"And once I decided that, I started to drive myself crazy. So here I am. And you? Alone? Or waiting for some tall and handsome beau to rescue you from your book?"
"Well, are you a tall and handsome beau?" She grinned, shaking her head. "Not that I was expecting anyone, or anything like that. I didn't really feel like running back to the castle in the rain right yet, so here I am." She wasn't going to feel up to running through the rain for hours, though, unless the rain stopped. If the previous weeks had been any sort of indication, the rain wasn't going to let up any time soon, which was insane. She was beginning to wonder if there was any more water left on the planet except the water pouring down around Hogwarts. While it felt that way every year, she couldn't help but feel that way anyway. It was expected; she felt that way at this time of year every year.
"A rescue is very welcome, though," She added, "So - entertain me." Leaning back, she grinned took a sip of her butter beer.
Re: Butterbeer! [03.14.09] [ISO: Tucker]
[ooc: Eee sorry it took me so long to get a reply! But here it is! Long awaited! And uh...yeah. All that stuff.]
Tucker noticed the slightly surprised look on Sera's face at his newfound theory. Yes, he knew what it looked like. Tucker. The boy that was obsessed with girls. Not just one girl, but many girls. Tucker who always loved to be the life of the party. Tucker who always liked to have fun. Tucker who had apparently gone completely and utterly emo in the last few weeks. Tucker was surprised that she hadn't leaned over the table to check his temperature yet and find out if he was alright. He wouldn't blame her for doing such a thing. Maybe he should have been checking his own temperature. Maybe he should have high tailed it to the hospital wing by then. "Doctor? Yeah, hi. I have a serious case of apathy. What's my diagnosis? Emotitis!? No! Anything but Emotitis!"
Tucker grinned as Sera grinned, shaking her head at his comment. "Well, are you a tall and handsome beau? Not that I was expecting anyone, or anything like that. I didn't really feel like running back to the castle in the rain right yet, so here I am." Tucker only half listened to the second part of Sera's question, pondering why it sounded so nice when she asked if he was a tall and handsome beau. A slightly mischievous smile came across his face as he wondered if Sera did indeed find him attractive. He had been implying that some other guy was going to come and steal her away from him, but she had turned HIM into the tall and handsome beau. Well, kind of. Smug arrogance spread inside of him, and he couldn't help but feel right proud of himself.
"A rescue is very welcome, though," She added, "So - entertain me."
Tucker had to admit that Sera's reply had caught him off guard. Entertain her? Well this was an intriguing idea. Wait. It would be if he knew how to entertain her. But really, Tucker knew she was joking. She probably wanted to stay in the Three Broomsticks and read anyways. But that was so boring. It was a Hogsmeade weekend! There were so many places that you could go, so many sites that you could explore. At that precise moment, Tucker made it his number one goal to get Sera out of the Three Broomsticks and into the rain. She could learn to like it, right? One would never experience life if they didn't go run in the rain. It would probably be good for Tucker too, trying to get Sera out to have a bit more fun. It would force him to get himself out more often as well. Which was something he really needed to do as of late.
"Entertain you?" Tucker asked with a grin. "If I had an oversized fan and a bowl of grapes that might be a little bit easier, but since I can't find any anywhere..." he trailed off, a grin on his face. "Only way to entertain yourself is to put the book down and get out into the rain." Tucker looked her straight in the eyes and gave her a serious look. "I know that the rain is terrible and scary and being wet is totally not normal." He broke the act and grinned. With one last swig, he finished off his butterbeer, and stood to his feet. "Come on, let's go somewhere. Doesn't even matter where. It'll be more fun than sitting here and reading your book. I promise."
Re: Butterbeer! [03.14.09] [ISO: Tucker]"Entertain you? If I had an oversized fan and a bowl of grapes that might be a little bit easier, but since I can't find any anywhere..."
"Try behind the bar," Sera advised, nodding toward it with a grin. "I'm sure you could find a fan back there." She was joking, of course - but at the same time, couldn't help but wonder. It seemed like the wizarding world was full of surprises, and somehow she knew that if Tucker looked, he'd probably be able to find something along those lines back there. That, or he could transfigure something or anything like that. And, she had to admit, she was rather curious about what exactly he'd been planning to do with his oversized fan and a bowl of grapes. There were a number of possibilites... and most of them didn't end well. It would definitely be a sight to see - and would definitely entertain her. That said, it really wouldn't take much to entertain Sera at that moment.
"Only way to entertain yourself is to put the book down and get out into the rain."
Horror!
"I know that the rain is terrible and scary and being wet is totally not normal. Come on, let's go somewhere. Doesn't even matter where. It'll be more fun than sitting here and reading your book. I promise."
"I'm going to hold you to that," Sera finished off her own butterbeer and left the mug on the table while she shoved her book in her bag. She was going to get wet, but she wasn't going to let that get soaked too. Grinning, she worked her way out from behind the table without accidentally hurting a younger student - the Three Broomsticks really was uncomfortably full - and followed Tucker to the door, absently checking to make sure she actually had something. Behind her, the table they'd been at was instantly snatched up by a pair of fourth years. Well, there was no going back now. Even though, she hesitated in the doorway. Some Gryffindor she was - scared of going out into the rain!
"So where to, O wise and knowledgeable Tucker?" She asked with a grin, glancing a touch uneasily outside. She really didn't like rain. However, it was just rain, like Tucker had said. How bad could it be?
