Canadian Trails.... ((Hawthorne. ))
Lucian was lost in all places Canada he was supose to be on tour with some church group, but he ditched that almost immedately. A soft sigh escaped his lips strolling down the street while whistling. It was apparent he was entirely lost, but he didn't seem to be sweating it to much. His bookbag slung over his shoulder. Stopping at a flyer his blue eyes taking in what it said something about a fair. Lifting his hand up to rip it from the building, checking the front of it and the back of it. There wasn't any directions on it. " Yeah, great no directions how to get there."

He leaned against a wall of the building. Looking at the people around him. He would need directions to the Fair and to the airport to use his round trip ticket. Scratching the back of his head as he took a step foward. Another moment would pass by, before he stepped out from the building. Holding up his finger waiting for the next person to pass by, so he could jump out and ask them for directions. It was kind of crude and sudden, but a lot of people when it came to stranger was a bit rude. "Excuse me, Sir/Madam I'm looking for a way to get to the Fair, then the nearest Airport. It would be a great help if you could direct me to these places."

Re: Canadian Trails.... ((Open. ))

Hawthorne let out a startled squeak and jumped back from what was obviously a rude American tourist. She gave him her most intimidating look, which was fairly impressive all things considered. What with all the gleaming shrapnel jewellry in her face, the spiky collars, and the graphic Cannibal Corpse t-shirt she happened to be wearing.

"Back off kid, only retards say Madam."

She went to brush by him, but felt a twinge of a conscience hit her. Damned if she wasn't softening up again after all these years. It was definitely Margo's influence, the old lady was a good egg.

She sighed and turned back around to look at the boy.

"It's hard to answer your question without all the facts, eh? What fair are you looking for, and where are you trying to fly to? Some airports up here don't go to every destination."

"Back off kid, only retards say Madam."

He wasn't really frightened of all the metal accompanying her face. A big smile came to his face he thought it was kind of cool. It had seemed like he wanted to reach out and touch her pirecings, but he stopped himself. His voice was full of awe and not sounding mean at all, "Whoa, I've never seen such shiny things on a person's face before. It's kind of cool I hope none of it is magnetic. I'm far from being mentally handicapped. I'm actually quite smart for my age. You must be heck at airport security. Cannibal Corpse is that a band?"

"It's hard to answer your question without all the facts, eh? What fair are you looking for, and where are you trying to fly to? Some airports up here don't go to every destination."

He held up the flier pointing to the fair listed on it. “I want to go there from here and then to the airport from there. I guess it’s asking a bit much of a stranger. I could really use the help, though I’m a bit of a tourist if you can’t tell. I need one to go back to my school. It’s a school where all the kids have super powers,” Just blurted it out if it was a average person probably wouldn’t believe him anyhow. “ It’s actually a pretty good place to do some learning or not to far from it. I could probably make the distance between the two points as long has the air-space is cleared low-flying planes can be a pain.”

Damn this kid spoke fast. Shecould barely keep herself from reeling backwards from the force of it. Never seen anyone with as many piercings as she had? What planet was he from? Neptune?

"Cannibal Corpse is the greatest band ever. No exceptions."

That was the only one she could process properly, and it was really the most important thing in her opinion. She took the flier from his hand, examining it closely. Then she grinned.

"The Rockton World's Fair, eh? Pretty spiff kiddo . . ."

She paused so he could finish his spiel.

"So, you go to MHS as well I suppose, hunh? I start there at the end of the month. Tell you what, since we're both heading the same direction, and since we're soon to be schoolmates, why don't I just drop you off at the fair? It's just outside my hometown, so it really isn't a big deal to me."

She handed the boy his map back and indicated a beaten up junker behind her.

"She's not pretty, but she makes it where I need to go."

Hawthorne held out her forearm and concentrated, a fuzzy map slowly appearing on the pale, clear skin. She was just lucky she'd been to the fair more than a couple of times, or else the blasted map would be rather useless and retarded. Carefully noting the first couple of turnoffs, she ushered the boy towards her car.

"By the way, my name's Hawthorne Johnstone."

"By the way, my name's Hawthorne Johnstone."

He waved to her, "Well, hello there Hawthorne Johnstone. I'm Lucian Wilheard pleased to meet you. I figured I'll got there, since I'm here in Canada."

Glancing over to her he happened to catch the fuzzy map slowly becoming visible on her forearm. He a brief moment of thought, then he asked, " Hey, that's a nifty power. One question what if you was hopelessly lost? Could you find your way to the nearest phone? I wonder do they have naco's at the fair," he was starting to ramble. "I haven't had a elephant ear in years. Sugary dough goodness rocks! Tacos might be good to."

He stopped at the old obviously run down car. Tapping on the top of the roof making a metal-clicking noise. Remembering a old phrase "knock on wood" except in this case a car. Hoping the car wouldn't break down, before they got there. It would certainly be horrible and they would both be out of luck. Slipping to the passenger side he opened the car door, then slide into his seat.

Re: Canadian Trails.... ((Open. ))

Hawthorne's eyes just got really wide as the kid went on, and on, and on . . .

Oh my gods, does he ever turn off . . .

Hawthorne yanked her door open, cringing a bit as it emitted a slight squealing noise. She figured it was about time to oil the hinges again. Oh well, she'd get around to it eventually.

"My power doesn't work like that. It helps me get back to places I've already been, but only if I know where I am at the moment. It's not the most accurate either, and if you use it for driving directions its gonna take you an extra half hour to get anywhere, but it helps me get my bearings. I don't have a great sense of direction, so it is helpful, to a certain degree."

She buckled her seatbelt and started the fascinating process of making her car move. She turned the key, pumped the gas, turned the key again, and within just a few minutes, the engine chuffed into life.

"Now we're cooking!" She pulled out into the street, and drove for a few blocks, before pulling into the drive thru at a Tim Horton's.

"D'you want something kiddo?" She wouldn't normally suggest caffeine to someone as hyperactive as her new companion, but what the hey, he was on vacation. Besides, he'd need the energy for the fair.

"D'you want something kiddo?"

He looked to be caught in thought, then he kind of took a offense to the kiddo comment. "I'm not a kid. I will take a bagel and a cup of coffee decaf. Don't like the groggy after-effects. Also, those egg sandwhich things can I have that on a coursacant. Some kind of pastry to, but that's all. I need to leave some room for carnie treats."

Thinking back to how she described her power about it not being so useful to her. "Well, that sucks. I guess it's better, then being totally lost. I can't comment to much on my. It's more of a inherit type of thing with me kind of self-conscious. Also, it'll take up to much room in your car," he said in a coy manner.

Leaning back in the car-seat he was sort of trusting for a tourist. She could of been a serial killer or something else of the sort, then again when you have some sort of superpower it becomes kind of unimportant. He didn't seem to threatening from his appearance. "So, how's the fair? I'm kind of looking foward to it myself."

Nope, he didn't turn off. Not ever. And apparently he ate a lot. All that was going to leave room for treats at the World's Fair? Insane. Hawthorne didn't eat that much in a day, in fact, in her recent memory, she hadn't eaten that much this week.

She pulled up to the speaker and placed her order. "Hi, we'd like a plain bagel, toasted with butter, and a large decaf coffe, cream and sugar on the side. Also, a breakfast sandwich on a croissant instead of a biscuit, with bacon, and a strawberry danish."

She dug around in her wallet and counted up the change.

"And a medium hot chocolate."

After she paid the lady she hit the highway, hoping perhaps some of the food being in his mouth would slow the kid's motormouth down a bit. She found it hard to think while he was talking.

"The Rockton World's Fair is pretty cool. It's the biggest of its kind. There's traditional festival things like pie-eating contests and ribbons for livestock, as well as a huge amusement park and a lot of special events. My ex-boyfriend has one the prize for biggest squash every year, though what kind of accomplishment that is, beats me. There'll be about a 100 000 people there though, so watch your shit. You don't want it to walk away on you."

He was already eating, taking a big bite out of his sandwhich downing it fast with the hot coffee. There was a brief pause as if the coffee was to hot, but the sandwhich managed to absorb some of it. Swallowing it in a big gulp with a deep sigh. A fast eater he was it seemed to no surpise. "Well, if it doesn't have legs. I don't need to worry about it walking away. If anybody takes it I'll put a mouse trap in it," he said as a matter of fact type of tone. "That'll show them. Did you say pie? I love pie.. Not a big fan of squash though. Congratz on your ex's win. "

Another bit out of his sandwhich talking with his mouth full as he chewed trying to form words. "Umm.. It..'s a big fair uh? People... Clow..Ns..Rid.. Cotton. Cand.Nuts." It was hard to understand him in the least, then he swallowed once again. "Yay, elephants! To the fair."

Hawthorne shook her head, chuckling to herself at the young man's enthusiasm. He reminded her of the younger sister she had once upon a time. They had gone to the Rockton Fair once, and she had been just as excited. She slowly sipped her hot chocolate, savouring the sugar rush of the day. Watching her you wouldn't guess it was the first thing to pass her lips as of yet. You probably wouldn't even guess that she had just spent the last of her money on the exhuberant little fella's breakfast. Still, if there was anything Hawthorne believed in, it was helping out another person, whatever way she could.

"I wouldn't get too close to the elephants, they might step on you, or at the very least steal all your carnival food."

She could guess what he would think was the greater crime, which made her chuckle again. Her laugh was like the brush of a gentle breeze through wooden wind chimes, seldom heard, and kinda rusty, but her passenger was making her feel young again.

"Just be careful, darling, we wouldn't want you to get lost or injured."

Finally, about an hour later, they arrived at the parking lot to the fair. It only took about 10 minutes to find a spot, and Hawthorne pulled in gladly.

"Well, bucko. We're here."

"I wouldn't get too close to the elephants, they might step on you, or at the very least steal all your carnival food."

"Well, I here they work for peanuts so." Lucian said outloud biting into his dessert chewing on it slowly, then stopping it was a little hot. Smacking his lips trying to talk just getting some mumbling. "Th...That's hot." he swallowed it his throat burning. "I would like to ride a elephant that'll be cool."

He heard her laugh she had quite a cheerful elegant laugh for being so well gloomy. A soft smile came to his lips she was finaly loosening up around him and that was good. A cringle of the fast-food wrapper as he made it into a ball, then stuffed it into the bag. Drinking a big gulp from his coffee enthustically to wash down the pastry.

"Just be careful, darling, we wouldn't want you to get lost or injured."

"I don't get lost very easily and I've never been very accident prone," he said for a matter of fact. This coming from the boy who not to long ago was lost in Canada.A smile noticing he was being sort of in contray in his remarks, "Well, atleast I didn't have a broken limb or anything when I was lost, then found not making me lost anymore."

"Well, bucko. We're here."

The car came to a sudden stop at the fair's parking lot. A pleasant stop considering the vechicle they was in by this time he had finished off his breakfast. Still a little bit of pastry on his face in the form of a smudge. "Cool, time to ride a elephant and watch clowns juggle. I hope they have the gravity ride, that thing spins you around so fast you'll lose your lunch."

"You've certainly eaten enough lunch to coat a crowd."

She smiled at the boy, she had taken quite a liking to him over the course of their drive. After all, his uninhibited enthusiasm was nothing short of infectious.

She pulled the handle of her car door to exit the vehicle, and grunted. It seemed like her baby was gonna be fussy about releasing them. She put her shoulder against the door and muscled her way out of the vehicle. Then she came around the car to help her new friend out.

Between the two of them, the door came open with very little fuss, except for the removal of the outside handle. Hawthorne shrugged. Whatever, it could be fixed, eventually.

"Do you want me to show you where things are? Or are you more into exploring on your own?"

One way or the other, it wouldn't bother her, it's not like she had anything better to do today.

"Do you want me to show you where things are? Or are you more into exploring on your own?"

Those words would be meant with him grabbing her hand after she had helped him escaped the fussy car. "Lets do both except this time I won't get lost. I wonder did they ever make the fast-ferries wheel going in loops at top-speeds what a ride, that would be!"

Leading her through the parking lot. Wondering if he had to pay an admission fee or anything to get into the fair. Stopping just short of the entrance. He said, "Hey, how much is it to get into this place by the way?"

Wondering if he had enough money to pay for the both of them. The food would probably be a bit pricey most fairs was and the games was always fixed for the lowest chance of winning those big glorious stuffed animals. Those stuffed animals did prevent people from riding rides once you got them except for the ferris wheel.

Well, the one thing you could say for her companion was that he was enthusiastic. She allowed him to drag her almost all the way up to the gates, until he stopped.

"The Rockton Fair is free, for entrance anyway. Pretty much everything else costs money. You purchase tickets for the rides, one dollar a ticket, one ticket a ride."

She loved the Rockton Fair, it was so much better than any other. They weren't here to make big money out of you, they were here to draw you back to the joy of an old country fair, they just had to bring it into the 21st century to accomplish that.

She took the lead then, showing her new friend where the ticket booth was. The line was kinda long, but Hawthorne was glad she still had a couple of bucks left. There were a few rides she HAD to go on. Like the round up - no straps, no bracers, just centrifical force holding you to the edge of a poorly constructed metal wheel.

"Hey, maybe you should enter the pie-eating contest. You can eat a whole bunch . . ."

She laughed, letting him know that she was mostly teasing, though he did have a healthy appetite.

A grin on his face as Lucian said, "I'll enter if you'll enter. I don't want to be the only one with pie on his face."

Looking at the end of the line they just entered he never really liked lines period. Due to the fact he wasn't much for patience spefically if it was waiting for something interesting to him. He didn't get bored easy due to his creative nature, which often led to some questionable results. A deep sigh escaped his lips whistling the line song to pass the time, which out of whistling form sounds like. Lines, lines, lines, oh boring lines, move fast, oh so sublime.

Stopping to check out the people infront of him. A brief pause to look at a really absurd hat on a women's head. It resembled something of a butchered pea-cock ontop of straw, then continued his song. Thinking to himselfwhen did peacock come back into season? Probably, some crazy designer decided it was in. A bit of a chuckle thinking more on the hat.

"Fine, I'll enter. And I'll beat you too."

Always up for a challenge, Hawthorne was looking forward to the contest now. Maybe they'd have pumpkin pie . . . it was her favourite. Besides, she couldn't remember the last time she had eaten. If she was going to be able to pay for gas to get her home, she was gonna have to pick some pockets while they were here.

The whistling was getting on Hawthorne's nerves, but luckily the line was moving quickly. Soon Hawthorne was at the ticket office. She threw down all the change she had left, and the man handed her four tickets, looking her up and down with a disdainful sneer. She flipped him the bird and stood aside, waiting for the boy to buy his tickets.

No sooner was he done then she grabbed his hand and led him off into the crowd. "We have to go on the zero-g ride first, it's the best, and I can't do it after I've eaten." She knew he had just gorged himself, but he was a boy, he could prolly handle it better than she could.

As they were bumping their way through the crowd, nudging people out of their way with their shoulders, Hawthorne's quick hands were slipping into pockets and purses. She was an old hand at this, having done it on multiple occasions for her ex. It was different when she was doing it for herself. Finally they were past the crowds and in front of her favourite ride. She let go of her companion's hand and looked at him.

"Ready?"

"Ready?"

Looking at the ride with utter anticpiation in his eyes. Glancing back at the crowd they have impolitely buludgeoned their way through, then back Hawthorne. He wasn't paying much attention to what she said so all he got was ready. Lucian said cheerfully, "Whoa, you sure know how to make a b-line. Actually, never understood the b-line it doesn't resemble a B at all. I was born ready especially to ride something called zero-g."

The whistling had stopped now, that they wasn't in a line thus the line song stopped. Crossing his arms infront of his chest with a tilt of his head. He seemed to be thinking to himself about something. Glancing over to a sign something about line-cutting, then back to the ride. Uncrossing his arms a mischevious smirk was on his lips.

He ran ahead of her with exictment. "C'mon we have a ride to well, ride, then we can eat and ride again. Afterwards, we can go to the pie-eating contest I hope they have pumpkin. I like pumpkin it reminds me of turkey. Do you like pumpkin?"

Hawthorne smiled at the boy. He was fun to be around. In fact, in a lot of ways, he reminded her of Lily. He got that same look of hungry anticipation in his eyes. He had the same lust for life, the same go-with-the-flow. She missed being a big sister. "Whoa, you sure know how to make a b-line. Actually, never understood the b-line it doesn't resemble a B at all." Hawthorne laughed. He certainly had a way of talking.

"I've spent a lot of time in crowded places, kiddo. You learn quick how to make room. As for the whole Bee-line thing, I think it refers more to the bug then the letter. Bees zip straight from flower to flower, no detours, and nothing stands in their way. I think that that is what they're referring to. But I could be wrong."

She chuckled again. "I was born ready especially to ride something called zero-g." "Well then sirrah, we shall climb aboard the Zero-G and be weightless!"

"C'mon we have a ride to well, ride, then we can eat and ride again. Afterwards, we can go to the pie-eating contest I hope they have pumpkin. I like pumpkin it reminds me of turkey. Do you like pumpkin?"

She chased after him, fully aware that they were bipassing the line. She only hoped that Pete was collecting the tickets today, he knew her, and would let them get away with it. They dashed to the front of the line, and sure enough, there was her old buddy Pete.

"Thorny! You hadn't been here in three whole days, I was starting to worry about you." The wrinkled old man examined Lucien. "You never told me you had a brother."

"He's not my brother Petey, he's a friend. You gonna let us on this ride or not?"

"I dunno gel, you gonna marry me or not?"

"Depends on how good the ride is."

They both laughed and he let them both through the gates.

"Enjoy the ride kids!"

Hawthorne turned back to Lucien. "This is gonna be intense, I hope you don't get motion sickness!" She was just teasing, after their car ride she knew full well that that wasn't a problem for the boy. Then the ride started, the outermost circles spinning in opposite directions, and suddenly the two of them were floating.

Lucian's face held what only could be described as pure awe when he hit weightlessness. There was a certain bit of nuisance to go along with it, but it wasn't much sort of like butterflies in your stomach. He laughed delightfully to counteract this feeling as he did a backflip in mid-air, "WOW!This is fun. I feel all light-foogy kind of like a cloud except not stuck in the sky."

Doing a front flip this time to get a opposite feel of the backflip, then he did something odd. He put his legs to the side and swam with his arms resembling a frog darting across a pond to get to it's next lilly pad. It was a good thing they knew Pete he seemed like a charming fellow. Heck, he's technically engaged to Hawthorne. Lucian cluelessly said, "Hey, you really going to marry Pete? Cause this ride is kickin'."

It was obivous he was starting to get a grip on being well like a cloud as he so delicately put it. The next thing he did was the splitz in the zero-g it felt kind of weird. Not painful like tripping and doing the splits specifically when your a boy. He put his hands to his toes and scunched his butt to kind of intimdate what looks like a dog dragging his butt through the carpet. Finishing it off with a tiny little spin a percuilar move indeed.

The next aerobatic stunt he pulled was grabbing both his feet and rolling backwards as if a ball. "Whew!" Luciand said as he let go of his legs just kind of hovering there enjoying the moment. "I wonder how astronauts mix tang in outerspace? It must be a pain to mix it with water when it's all weightless, then you kind of have to avoid it being hit with floating tang. Sort of mind blowing the complexities of juice in space."

Hawthorne stretched out on her back, suspended mid-air, and lazily kicked her feet, propelling herself around the outmost edge, letting Lucien get the full effect of the ride as much as possible.

"WOW!This is fun. I feel all light-foogy kind of like a cloud except not stuck in the sky."

She laughed. She never had considered the feeling cloud-like, it always took someone new to recapture an old joy in a new light. He had so much energy, and she hollowly applauded his antics, not being able to get up enough pressure to clap properly. He was like an otter in the water, and that thought made her smile.

"Hey, you really going to marry Pete? Cause this ride is kickin'."

She doubled over with laughter, and they could hear Pete's loud guffaw from outside of the ride. Apparently he could hear the boy as well. Hawthorne's whiped amused tears from her eyes.

"That's just a joke between old friends, Lucien. Pete is old enough to be my grandfather."

"I wonder how astronauts mix tang in outerspace? It must be a pain to mix it with water when it's all weightless, then you kind of have to avoid it being hit with floating tang. Sort of mind blowing the complexities of juice in space."

So the little fella had a philosophical bent did he? That was interesting. Hawthorne wracked her brain for something to further encourage Lucien's out of the box thinking. She was in full-on big sister mode now.

"You think juice in space is trouble, immagine going to the bathroom!"

With that she bounced into Lucien, sending him flying over to the other side of the chamber, and grinned. She had caught him unawares, but was sure that it wouldn't happen again.

"You think juice in space is trouble, immagine going to the bathroom!"

The first thought to come into his head even through it was premature due to the sudden push to the other side. Bathroom? The strained thought on his face was taken off by the sudden surpise of being knocked over to the other side of the gravity chamber. He flipped once, but manage to plant his feet on the other side of the chamber his eyes on Hawthorne," May aren't you sneaky? I guess they go in their suits." Lucian said kind of cringing. "Ewww.."

Swimming behind Hawthorn he floated under her grabbing her heel slightly lifting it up to cause to flip. A little payback for the sudden push. He flapped his arms briefly like that of an astrange bird sort of resembling a chicken to fly upwards in the zero-gs. "Nasa is werid. I always see them on mattresses infommericals. In space I supose you can sleep anywhere. So why need a mattresse? I guess funding is low to send the next chimp onto mars."

The image of a monkey on mars on it's harsh atmosphere wasn't exactly pretty. In Lucian's head it came out to be something like Curious George shoving a banana up Marvin The Martian's nose. A laughed escaped his lips as he wiggled his feet. Lucian asked, "What would you do in space Thorny?"
