Chapter One: October
Chapter One: October
It's only the beginning...
The alliance of three Death Eaters continue their quest in silence, but the time is steadily nearing to when they will finally resurface into the wizarding world in full force. The first baby step to doing so, however, was made on October 5th, 2008.
Cornelius Fudge, still Minister of Magic despite his age and paranoia, arranged a meeting with Professor McGonagall, much encouraged by his accomplice Percy Weasley, to discuss matters of Ministry intervening within the school. It’s a wide-known fact that Fudge has been pushing the Ministry into Hogwarts from all angles, but like always, McGonagall blatantly refused to hear him out for any reason. As far as the age-old Headmistress is concerned, Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic are two very separate things, and should never be crossed, combined, or interwoven. Their little chat, however, proved to be an ideal moment for Percy to partake in a spectacular feat to the Death Eater force. Knowing that McGonagall was too shrewd to buy into any plans that Percy had to enter Death Eaters into the Ministry, Panthera Lupus ordered her killed. At 10:23 AM, Percy Weasley slipped a slow reacting poison into Professor McGonagall’s tea, and sipped his own through smirked lips, knowing her fate was in his hands.
Professor McGonagall continued the rest of her day as if it were any other day. She discussed the Halloween Masque with Madam Rosmerta through the floo transport, berated a group of second years who seemed to think it was funny to leave the faucets turned on the sinks and run down the corridor waiting for it to flood (Merlin knew there was enough flooding thanks to Moaning Myrtle), and was forced to ignore a howler from a first year’s parents criticizing the way she handled the school’s affairs. In all, she felt perfectly fine.
Until the Sunday Feast that night. She made her announcements like usual, heard groans and complaints about the delay in the feast as usual, and discussed unruly students with a couple of the other teachers as usual. Everything was as usual until she began to feel extremely light headed, and stood up to excuse herself from the table. Instead of standing up, her legs collapsed underneath her, and she fell to the floor, unconscious. The other teachers instantly sprung up to her defense. Jake Mitchell carried her out of the Great Hall, and Cyrus Archer instantly notified St. Mungo’s about her state. Professor McGonagall was transferred to St. Mungo’s without a second question.
With the Headmistress sick at St. Mungo’s, the position of Head of Hogwarts was passed down to Catella Indreve, the Deputy Headmistress of the school. As the weeks went by, however, with no promise of retaining health for dear old Minerva McGonagall, Percy began his persuasion for Fudge to place him as Head of Hogwarts. Percy planned a great argument, and once he mentioned “Ministry Involvement,” seeing as Percy would still be Undersecretary and would follow Fudge’s command (as far as he allowed Fudge to think,) Fudge agreed for Percy to take up to post of Headmaster on November 1st, 2008.
The rest of October should have finished flawlessly, including the Masque which was planned at the Three Broomsticks, but things always have a tendency to go wrong. A short while into the Masque, a prized box owned by Jake Mitchell, also known as Draco Malfoy, was unlocked by a blundering man at the Three Broomsticks, one that Draco had trusted in watching the box and keeping his hands off of it, and as Draco attempted to stop the man from opening, the box sprung open upon Draco’s touch, knocking the man unconscious on the floor, and creating an anti-magical field that covered the entirety of Hogsmeade. The Three Broomsticks was plunged into darkness, and everything that was once magical was no longer. Costumes began to fall apart (A certain Luke Pearson even ran around in fuzzy underwear enjoying the freedom) and students began to panic. While it seemed that no magic wouldn’t effect things to too great of an extent, the snake on sixth year Slytherin Carsa Monvé’s costume lost the charm that made it harmless, and Carsa was affected with a deadly snake bite, and had to be rushed back to the castle. Through the hustle and bustle, another sixth year Slytherin Maeve Lorne found Draco unconscious on the floor, and he was quickly transferred to the Hospital Wing as well.
Now that the Death Eaters have one of their three leaders as Head of Hogwarts, what will become of the school?
