Chapter Two: November/December
Chapter Two: November/December
To Hell we ride...
After the Halloween Masque, Jake Mitchell spent quite a few days in the Hospital Wing recovering from his magical attack in Hogsmeade. In the end, he was deemed normal, healthy, and alright, capable of returning to his every day life. But Jake hadn’t recovered. No, instead, he left the Hospital Wing with something new. Or should I say someone. Now Jake Mitchell, also known as Draco Malfoy, lives a life possessed. A life possessed by none other than Salazar Slytherin.
The school then entered into December, tricked into thinking that they had made it through an entire semester without a brush with the new league of Death Eaters. How very mistaken they all were. The methods of the Death Eaters were no longer expressed through brute force, but now through silence and craftiness. Carefully extracting a virus of Dragon Pox, Panthera Lupus placed Madam Rosmerta of the Three Broomsticks under the Imperius Curse, and throughout the day, she distributed the poison in different mugs of butterbeer, all to Hogwarts students. Within days, nearly two thirds of the students at Hogwarts had fallen ill. There were varying degrees of the sickness, and most had the symptoms of a common cold, but other students, like Lynn Stuart, Brid Cambell, Melana Plume, and Vaila Rosewood had more severe cases.
On the tragic day of December 14, 2008, Jereff Stranger, 6th year Ravenclaw, found Vaila Rosewood dead in the Ravenclaw Common Room. Shock spread throughout the entire school, yet they still remained oblivious to the cause of their dismay. The Death Eaters had made a mark on Hogwarts, but it hadn’t made as significant of an effect as they had been hoping. They would have to regroup and think of another way to further push Hogwarts over the edge.
Two days later, the Christmas Social took place, and despite the fact that a student had died two days before, the rest of the Hogwarts populace attempted to have fun, make merry, and enjoy the small Christmas celebration before the students going home for break would leave.
And leave they did, on December 17th. But a horrible fate awaited them. The Death Eaters had destroyed a part of the track, and when the train approached it, it derailed and crashed. Some cars were knocked clear to the side, and the engine burst into flames, killing the conductor. It was a wild scramble to get out of the train before it was completely consumed by flames, and once they were outside in the snow, they were greeted by the Death Eaters themselves.
The Death Eaters moved quickly, and seized what they wanted. Captives. Just a few to make an impression. They managed to take hold of Adrienne Denton, Meghan Spire, and Angel White. They began to cold heartedly torture students, and Tucker Pence, 6th year Gryffindor, did the only thing he could think of. He launched bright red flares high into the air, drawing attention to the scene. Shortly after, the Ministry of Magic appeared, and after a few intense minutes that seemed like hours, the Death Eaters were gone.
The Ministry arranged for the students to be taken home in carriages. The ones that weren’t very badly injured for that matter. If a student had acquired any major injuries, they sent them back to Hogwarts by carriage to be cared for in the Hospital Wing, so they could be nursed back to health.
Now the Death Eaters have made themselves known, and worse, they have three innocent lives in their hands. Will Adrienne, Meghan and Angel make it out alive? Will anyone ever see them again?
