Chevy Day at the Brickyard Returns for Fans
Chevy Day at the Brickyard Returns for Fans
Chevrolet and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) again will kick off festivities for the 14th annual Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Friday with Chevy Day at the Brickyard. Fan-friendly events taking place on the IMS infield will feature NASCAR Nextel Cup driver autograph sessions, entertainment by country music star Tracy Lawrence, Chevrolet vehicle displays and 100 chances to ride a hot lap with a Chevy driver.
Other exciting activities are occurring in the Hall of Fame Museum parking lot. The Jolie Holliday Band will be performing live throughout the day on the Chevy Stage. A limited number of fans age 21 and over can test drive select Chevy vehicles on the IMS road course. The first 100 people to take a test drive will receive a voucher for a Chevy "Hot Lap" ride around the famed IMS track with a Chevy NASCAR driver, weather permitting. The latest Chevrolet products will be on display including the Chevy Silverado - Motor Trend's Truck of the Year - and favorite Chevrolet Nextel Cup race cars.

"New" Bristol Surface Tests "Old" Mindset of Team Chevy Silverado Teams
It is a new beginning for the famed Bristol Motor Speedway - and Team Chevy Silverado drivers were the first of any in NASCAR's big three series to get a look at, and test, the complete resurfacing of the historic track.
Although no major changes were made, variable banking was added to the turns to help smooth the transition to the straightaways. The track is also three feet wider now, which leads some drivers to believe a third - or "high" - groove will come into play during the race.
"Our Silverado teams came away from the test with some good information," said Dayne Pierantoni, Chevrolet program manager NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for GM Racing. "We will have another test day before we race at Bristol on August 22 that will give us the final data we need to make final recommendations to our teams for the race."

Team Chevy to be Well Represented at Montreal
As NASCAR expands from what used to be considered a southern-only sport to now crossing into Canadian territory, Team Chevy drivers hope to pay homage to the thousands of race fans with a great show north of the border.
"Like some of the drivers have said, they see Canadians come to the Michigan track, to New Hampshire, and those fans obviously love NASCAR," said Shane Martin, Chevy Program Manager, NASCAR Busch Series. "Even at Michigan they play the Canadian national anthem. We hope to keep up Chevy's great success with the Monte Carlo SS and give the Canadian fans a thrill."
As great of an opportunity as racing in Montreal is, it's a big financial commitment for teams with having two consecutive road races - Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on August 4 followed by Watkins Glen International. But both road races have also given Dale Earnhardt, Jr. the chance to fulfill a 6-year-old promise his father made to road-race specialist Andy Pilgrim.
