Clair De Lune
Dmitri's first impulse was to find a piano on campus. He hadn't played in over a week and a half and the only thought on his brain was music. When he arrived, the first thing he asked for was directions to the nearest piano. They told him it was in the auditorium; Dmitri headed there without hesitation.

Upon arriving, he saw the piano right away and headed straight for it, glad that it was being unused. His steps echoed through the mostly empty auditorium, sending chills down his spine. He made his way towards the piano, adjusted the bench to his liking, then sat down.

He placed his hand in position, lowered the damper pedal and began to play. The first few notes were soft, beautiful, and slow- the beginnings of a gorgeous melody. Anyone musically inclined would recognize it as Claire De Lune. He plays it intimately, taking great liberties with the tempo. The harmonies are very ethereal and hazy; beautiful yet unpredictable. As he is playing, he closes his eyes, imagining in life like detail a dove flying across the sky on a cloudless night. The full moon shines big and bright above and stars are strewn across the sky's canvas. Dmitri, for the first time in weeks, has finally escaped into his musical world.

Re: Clair De Lune
Nessa claps at his wonderful playing, and comes from the doorway into the auditorium proper. She comes closer as the last few notes end, before telling him, "You play very well... Have you heard this song?" she begins singing with grace and vibrato, using a strong soprano at great heights, projecting from her diaphragm, breathing evenly, and keeping a round mouth while using her teeth tongue and lips for greatest effect. She's obviously got some talent, and has been through a little vocal training...
Once he shows that he's heard it, she continues singing along...

The Song

He suddenly stops playing his song, a bit annoyed at first, but he is softened by the compliment. "No. Never heard it...but... Go ahead and sing more of it and I'll see what I can do." He looks at her with a patient sort of intensity, his hands resting on the keyboard.

Re: Clair De Lune
Nessa continues singing, and at the end of the song bows to him. "Thank you for the wonderful music ... so, you're new here, I take it? I haven't seen you around, so that's why I'd guess anyway." Should she appear to be making him uncomfortable with these questions, she stops asking, and asks him if he would like to try another song, in a similar style, though by a different composer--however, one that's a duet. She hoped he knew the words, and that they could sing together, but she'd try to guide him nevertheless, even if he knew not one word of it. If he appears comfortable, she goes on asking him questions, about himself, where he had been before coming to MHS, what his hobbies were, and more information about himself...

Dmitri shakes his head, then begins to play the piano- precisely in the same key that the song was sung. "No. Go ahead and start singing again; that same song... in 2 measures."

"Alright," replied Nessa, and began singing again, letting the notes flow through her like a slow river that felt as though it would sweep her away at any moment, the beauty of the song being the driver, and she just along for the ride. She gave herself completely to the song, and noticed that this new guy was playing right along with her. Her eyes grew wide for a moment that someone could learn a new song that fast, but put it off to it being his power. She finished, slightly out of breath for having put a lot of energy into the last part of the song, and smiled at the boy, who appeared even shorter than she was. "So, what's your name?" she asked him.

"Dmitri. Dmitri Serebryanikov. And yes, I am new here. I just arrived today." He stands from up, but he isn't honestly much taller standing than sitting. He extends his hand in greeting. "Yours is?"

Re: Clair De Lune
"Mine own is Nessa--Nessa Farseer," she bows to Dmitri, and says, "Glad to meet you, Dmitri! So, shall we try another song, or go out to get something to eat? The caffeteria here has some pretty good food ... interested?" she finishes with a smile, knowing that she's getting pretty hungry herself since she hadn't eaten anything yet today, and it was nearing lunch time. With a laugh she finishes, "Don't worry about the piano, it'll keep here fine until you should want to come back--as it has for the last decade or so, probably."

A little reluctant to leave the piano, but also wishing to make new friends, Dmitri finally nods after a long pause. "Sure. I haven't eaten all day..." As he says this, he realizes just how hungry he is, and his stomach rumbles. He steps forward and off the stage, and begins walking out of the auditorium with Nessa, assuming she follows.

Re: Clair De Lune
Nessa grins at the rumbling tummy, remembering her own just a few days ago on her first day at school. "Alright then, this way," she says, letting him exit first from the auditorium, and then leading the way to the caffeteria. "It's a fairly standard caffeteria--buffet style, take what you want, and eat it at your own leisure--and if you want to eat anything after hours, you can probably sneak in, and get something," she finishes with a grin at the not-completely-acceptable practice of pilfering the pantry after hours, and how she had just done that a few nights ago with V.
