IC:
Full Name: Claire Harlow Killian
Nickname(s): None
DOB: November 25th, 1992
Year: Sixth
Blood: Half-Blood
House Preference: Ravenclaw
Why: Mentally acute and ingenious, Claire is a perfect description of a Ravenclaw student. When she's faced with a problem, great or low extent, she's always able to maintain a level head and manages to find the perfect way to solve and execute the solution. Throughout her academic career, Claire has maintained an "A" average. Partially it's due to her never ending want to learn, but also knowledge seems to naturally come to her. Besides her keen mental attributes, Claire also makes an extraordinary friend. Whether one needs a shoulder to cry on or someone to confide in, she's always there with open arms.
Physical Appearance: At first sight, Claire would most likely be considered your average young woman. Standing at 5'6", she's about the normal height for a 16 year old. At times when she's not in school, high heeled shoes make her an inch or so taller, but she definitely doesn't tower over anyone. At this current point, Claire's happy with her height. She wished to not be so short that someone would accidently squish her while walking, but also not to be so tall that she'd intimidate even the bulkiest guy she knew.
Her weight is in a similar proportion with her height. 115 lbs. Average. A word so understated in Claire's opinion. Just like her height, she's pretty satisfied with her weight. Bones don't show when she's not sucking in, and you can see her waistline an neck. In her childhood she was always slightly chubby, not to the point where someone would call her fat, but if she'd lost a few pounds it wouldn't have hurt. As she got older, the little extra weight "filled" her out. Claire's silky honey colored hair reaches to about the middle of her shoulder blades, the length that seems to compliment her well. It's not so thin to wear she should be thinking about a wig, but it's just about the right thickness. It doesn't give her much trouble, a quality most girls her age dream of. Even when she wakes up in the mornings, her hair seems to always be ready to go. Never deciding on a certian style, people never know what to expect with her and her hair.
Her face is one of her most charming features. Blessed with high cheek bones a beautiful smile, Claire's facial features all but scream elegant. She was graced with her mothers soft beauty, and her fathers deep hazel eyes that seem to always glisten. It's a terrible cliche, but at times her smile can seem to light up a room. With an almost creamy, silky skin tone and as soft as a baby's behind, her complexion adds to her elegant charm. When not attending class, Claire's attire is much more mature that the natural clothing for her age group. Usually she goes for the sexy and sophisticated look. Pink, lime green, yellow, etc. are definitely not colors you'd find in her wardrobe. She doesn't like to pop out in a crowd, so most of the time she sticks with mellow, cool colors, which adds even more to her elegant look.
Pesonality: As described above, Claire is very cunning and intelligent. When emerged in a conversation with perhaps even the wittiest person, nothing seems to suprise her. Even if something might, she manages to keep it cool, talking as if she's in control in a subtle way. Though she's never rude or impatient, or sort of "controlled" attitude seems to annoy a few people. At first impressions, Claire appears to be the quiet, mellow girl to hold a serious conversation with. Her voice never reachs a high level, so no one over thinks of her to be obnoxious, or in anyway rude. Polite could basically serve as her middle name. She never interrupts, and even if she has something negative to say, she keeps it to herself. Don't be fooled, she is a very opinionated person, just she manages to find subtle ways to display her feelings. It's not hard to make quick friends with Claire.
Whether someone's horribly deformed or the meanest looking thing on the face of the earth, Claire is never one to judge by appearance. For her, or anyone else, this can prove to be a good and a bad quality. Good, because she can see past ones physical appearance and get to know them. Bad, because at times the way some people look is the way they actually are, and being to optimistic, which always happens with her, can put her in harms way. Along with her loyal and generous ways, Claire is also very sensitive and kind. At times some might consider her a little too sensitive, taking things to heart more than a normal person should, but she feels sympathy for even the most pathetic person. People might consider her to be too kind, and too forgiving, which is actually the truth. She has a huge soft spot for anyone who basically drops one tear from their eye.
History: On November 25th, 1992, Claire Harlow Killian was the first child born to Kennedy and Kelsy Killian. Claire's father, who happened to be a muggle, ran a small diner that was located in their howntown. Her mother, a young witch with non-magical parents, was a waitress at their diner. Even just days after birth, her parents knew that Claire was in fact a witch like Kelsy. As she grew older, her mother taught her, and her father, the ways of the wizarding world. Kennedy was at first hesitant to accept the fact that his daughter was a witch, but when he saw his wife, the woman she was, he knew that his daughter being magical was a great honor. Throughout her childhood, she lived, in a way, a "double" life.
Whenever she reached the age of 3, her mother gave birth to two twin boys, Cole and Kyle Killian. But, unfortunately, unlike their sister, the twins remained mere muggles. Ever since the day Claire found out about her brothers, she always felt guilty that she possessed magic and they didn't. Everytime she'd talked to her mother about it, she'd always said, "At least the boys have eachother," meaning that at least it wasn't just one son suffering. Although she knew it was coming, the day she recieved her letter from hogwarts, it was the best day of her life. She had always known she was a witch, but when the letter arrived, it was a sudden realization that she, in fact, was a witch. After she had it, she knew that magic was indeed a part of her life. Within the next few months, she'd be heading off to hogwarts. Just as she knew it would, the time came for her to go off to school.
During her first year at Hogwarts, everyday felt as if it was her first at the school. She always found something that had amazed her, whether it was something new she learned in class or a new corridor that in her world was undiscovered, she almost became overwhelmed for love of the school. She'd also heard of all the stories during her first year, of Harry Potter and his friends, the things they'd done, and even though she'd heard them plenty of times before, they always still interested her. As her first year came and went, so did the second. Though still happy to be a part of the school, during her second year some of her enthusiasm for the school itself faded away. The classes still excited her, all the knowledge she aquired, and the year was almost just as enjoyable as her first.
Once her third year arrived, so did some trouble. For some reason she became overwhelmed with her classes, days and even weeks just seemed to blend together, and she always felt as if she didn't get anything done. Her grades slipped just a little, but towards the end of the year, she managed to pull them back together. Her fourth and fifth years at the school were both equally as challenging, but she managed to get through them with above average grades. In her fourth year, she really started to take an interest in boys. Sure, in the years before she'd looked at some boys and thought they were cute, developing small adolescent crushes, but in her mostly in her fourth year she started developing almost lusty feelings.
Sure enough, Mr. Right, at least in her terms, came along in her fifth year. He was in his seventh year, and whenever he supposedly took an interest in her, Claire's friends all warned her to be careful. Sure enough, it'd been a bet for him to woo her, get her almost completely in love, then dump her the night of an important dance the school was having. She was heart broken, and barely came out of her room for what seemed like eternity. As her fifth year ended, so did her heartbreak from Mr. Right. Anger now resided, but it wasn't intense or life threating in his case. Now, Claire's in her sixth year at Hogwarts. So far she's mainly been concentrating on her studies, but definitely a few boys have caught her eye. A few have even tried to put some moves on her, but every time she played hard to get. She intends to keep doing that, until she really feels she knows a guy well enough to be with him.
RP Sample: "John!" the sub-conscious scream made Claire bolt up from her sleeping position on her desk. Glancing around, with the name still echoing on her parted lips, Claire's memory from earlier that evening played through her head. She'd come into the common room a little before dinner was over and started working on homework, and was working well after everyone had gone to sleep. Yet again, the work had proved to be too much.
Her gaze shifted down to the many rolls of parchment on her desk. For the most part, she was done with her homework. With that worry gone, she remembered what had awaken her in the first place. That weird dream again. She'd been having strange dreams lately, ones that didn't make sense to her at all. She figured it was just something magical, but she knew it wasn't anything to get melodramatic about.
Brushing some stray honey-blond hair back into her loosely tied bun, she started gathering her work, along with her other belongings. A sudden noise of what sounded like footsteps echoed in the small corner where she'd been sitting, and her gaze went to the dark stairwell that was just around the corner. Slowly getting up, she made her way over. "Hello?" she called out softly. Silence answered. As she turned the corner, the hair on the back of her neck stood up as she felt something down by her feet.
Jumping nearly five feet in the air, she looked down at the stone ground. A hysterical laugh bubbled at her lips when she saw it was just her black and white cat, Nova. Shaking slightly, she bent down and picked up the little animal. It purred as Claire stroked it behind the ears. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth, and she made her way back to the desk she'd been working at. After retrieving her things, she headed up to her dorm for some hopefully undisturbed sleep.
