Correctly sharpening a roughing gouge?
I used my homemade sharpening jig on my 1" roughing gouge and ended up with a big fat spindle gouge. I didn't think about loosing the "straight/flat" edge by using the sharpening jig.

What is the correct way to sharpen a roughing gouge and keep the end flat. Does it have to be done by hand? Or is there a special jig or way to use the jig to keep it flat?

Thanks!
Wayne

Does anyone have a tip for doing this?
