@#%$ Cox Cable @#%$ @#%$
My husband and I moved into our house on Sunday, and got our computers up, networked and running Monday night. Well, his email wasn't working so he called and had his password reset.. all was good. I checked my email this morning... no worky either. Had to go to work, so once I got here I checked it via their web portal... still no worky. Fearing the worst, I check my webspace.... EMPTY. Now I'm pissed. I called Cox... my email is "broken" (nice technical term), so they have to have another level of tech look at it. ETC is tonight. Hopefully not too many of my email subscriptions have bounced and unsubscribed me automatically. Also, both my husband's and my webspaces are WIPED. No one told me my webspace would be wiped.. this guy says, "Oh yeah, someone probably should have told you about that." I have everything backed up but I'm still pissed off, since I have more important things to do other than re-set all my web crap.... sigh. Especially since NOTHING CHANGED on my internet subscription except the address they were piping it to... I don't understand why our webspace would be wiped because of that and the Cox guy didn't have a good answer either. "It's just what we do".
Just venting... carry on. Oh yeah, I'm sure I'll get the obligatory "Everyone knows Cox sucks" comments... I totally agree. However, here in Omaha it's either Cox or Qwest DSL, so you have to pick the lesser of two evils.....

I've had Cox Cable now here in Chesapeake for the past 4 years (since it was first offered in my neighborhood), and have had no major problems what-so-ever.

I sometimes wonder how a company named COX gets by with all this FCC crap...
Re: @#%$ Cox Cable @#%$ @#%$
Cox is AWFUL! The only way my husband and I ever got good service from them (in virginia) is ordered business service for an extra like ... $30 a month (outrageous I know). When you called into the cs desk, they actually listened to you and didn't act like you were making stuff up.
NEVER EVER tell them you are playing a game. There are always business losses, otherwise people think you are crazy.

Eh, I miss my cable connection.
I have DSL included in my rent now, so I don't complain, but I miss my 3000down/128up speed... my DSL is only 768down/128up. I admit, I was rated at 1500/128 for my cable, but I consistently got over 2200, and my area has Comcast (who admittedly has a better reputation than Cox, at least here), but... ah well. Just reminsiscing when I could get downloads at 450kb/s instead of 150... :(

It must depend by the city, I had Cox cable modem for a long time here in San Diego, never a problem. the company name makes the people in guild giggle if I mention it.

I use Cox Cable out of San Diego and I can honestly say I've never had a worse experience any other ISP.
They are constantly double billing, they made us upgrade to a business account to get working e-mail accounts, their techs have never once been able to fix something--assuming they even show up and seriously half of the time I call their tech support I get hung up on.
I don't have problems with their TV cable service, other than the freaking Amber Alerts they play over whatever I'm watching ever 20 minutes but I have had nothing but problems with their internet service. Very frustrating!
Definitely must be area related then. Mine has been excellent.
