Curious on Burning Rapier lore
Doing the BR with my rogue for kicks, and maybe in future for poison....even thought about doing Ragebringer the old fasioned way ....
anyway....
I was wondering about somethings with the rapier quest. Allakhazam doesn't give text quotes / lore about the quest.
In particular I was wondering how did someone know to find the bottle in OOT? Did someone go around asking various FP NPCs about the Turgin Swillfod mentioned by Bryan McGee of HP?

The exact location can be found by talking to the bard in the Freeport dock bar. She gives out all the clues to where it is at. I followed them exactly, and found it instantly on the bottom of the ocean floor.
Not sure if Allakhazam ever corrected it, but the bottle location was wrong for a long long time.
Wow, that brings back some fond memories. We really worked together to solve that one.

The song explained how the boat went thru the 'eye of the needle' and 8 seconds later, the person dropped the bottle into the ocean. So ride the boat, wait 8 seconds, and jump!

It's amazing how people found that out, though.

Not really. It's an old nautical term I learned as a child by watching the Sinbad movies. It made perfect logical sense to me.

err
How people stood by that bard in the backwater part of freeport long enough to hear the song, I meant.

Oh, she doesn't perform that one randomly. Going by memory here (it has been years). Basically, you talk to Bryan McGee in High Hold and ask about the Oblong Bottle, since that one is in brackets. The bottle is magical, and never runs out of liquor.
He also mentions some guy in FP had it by the docks, or something like that. You ask what oblong bottle? to different people at the docks. The bard responds with a song, and will sing it for you for a price of 300pp.
The song mentions how the owner hosted a ocean party, they sailed to Butcherblock, then turned around to come back. As the ship was threading the needle, his friends dared him to drink until he can drink no more, and as he did, they counted. At the count of 10, he passed out, and fell overboard with the bottle, never to be seen again.
So, I road the boat to BB. On the way back ,when the ship started passing through the rocks (threading the needle), I started counting 1, 1000, 2, 1000, etc. At 10, I jumped over board, and found the bottle.
I was one of the people to confirm the true location. Apparently, when the information was first posted, the X and Y were switched, and it caused a lot of confusion.
This is also the reason I can't stand Allakhazam for it's shoddy quest write ups.
