Dead or alive your coming with me....turtle.
Ok, as some of you already know, Da Hui took out Lodzial last night, 10/21/02. What follows is an account of what happened from and eyewitness... me:
Xabkorle had been searching for the elusive turtle for the last 2 days, hoping that after one of the server resets or patches, that he would spawn. Xab had the first and third map pieces for the eyepatch of plunder, and just needed that last map piece from Lodi. We sat basically 3 hours on Sunday night, with no pop. Around 9pm Pacific time on Monday night, Xab and I were again stationed at the gnoll camp in IC, waiting.
Suddenly, someone shouts "Lodizial is up!" Xab lets go with a "holy shit!" and I turn around to see a Gi-normous turtle moving up the snow banks and toward the tower of frozen shadow. (Wierd thing was, the gnolls never went all crazy and prayed to Lodzial like I thought they would when he spawns. We had no warning at all.) Xab and I both send guild messages to see if people can jump over to help. Xab tears off after the turtle and I drink a sow potion and give chase.
The next few minutes were pretty funny. Xab engages the turtle and starts running it around back and forth in front of the tower. I mem a couple of buffs and start chasing Xab around trying to land spells on him. As you can imagine, ... "Ezmrella begins to cast a spell.... your target is out of range." I had to figure out where Xab was gonna run, get there before him, then cast as he passed me, normally finishing my spell while Lodi rolled over me.... it was a funny sight.
After some initial hesitation from the guild, and some questions about who or what high level guild was in the zone, the guild started moving in. Benik was the first to appear as I remember, landing snare on the turtle and giving Xab some time to get further away. (Side note--as I recall, and Xab can correct me if I am wrong, Lodi did not start summoning Xab until snare was landed on him. Maybe at full speed the turtle tries to catch you, but snared it gets too far away and just summons your ass.) Things went downhill fast at that point. Once Lodi started summoning, it brought Benik down fast, but not before I think he landed a dot on the turtle. Xab engaged and I healed once or twice. That turned the turtle at me. I was able to get Benik rezed before the turtle fully got pissed at me and took me out.
It was around that time, when I went for my body and looted it, that the cavalry arrived. This part is kind of a blur, but out of nowhere comes Ouze, Rashindo, Nanelian, Tymmy, Katrinka, Healinghandz and others I am sure I am missing. Ouze engages, I get a clarity from Nan who also starts casting on the reptile, Tymmy summons a pet and engages, Rashindo dives ass first into the fight, and the battle is truly joined. Xab goes down at this point, despite the attempts of both me, Healinghands and Kat to keep people healed. Ouze falls a short time later. (In retrospect, not being grouped made it really hard for us to switch targets to see who needed healing, so it was hard to catch you with a heal before you fell, sorry those who died.)
Mainly I focused on keeping Rashindo healed, as he was the one with agro. Xab logged off and logged on Douja who he had camped at the gnolls, which added to our healing power. Ouze returns to the fight, sans items, and lays a harm touch on the nasty bugger. Cibulan showed up around that time too, and immediately drew nasty agro. Down goes Ouze again. Down goes Cibulan. (Sorry Cib, my cheal on you went off 1 sec too late...) Down goes Tymmy's pet, then Tymmy. Down goes Nanelien. Down goes Benik again (sometime around there, not exactly sure). Lodi is down to 20 percent at this point, but we are dropping like files. Suddenly Sleeka arrives and dives in to the battle. Down goes Katrinka.
At this point I am out of mana, and Healing and Douja are doing all the work. Down goes Rashindo. Sleeka feigns as he draws agro. All I can think is "my god, all that work and we are gonna wipeout... so unfair." Then, as suddenly as it began, Lodi turned to run. Sleeka gave chase, as Healing and Douja followed and I sat medding. Then, with a final roar, the Turtle collapsed, lifeless.
The zone congratulated us, as apparently we had onlookers. Ketre (a.k.a. Gracie) was there, and I have a feeling she landed a heal or two on us in there during the battle... Sleeka locked down the corpse and looted all that was not no drop. By this time I had enough mana for a rez and brought Xab back as soon as he logged off Douja. Then he looted the map peice and we started resing the fallen. In the end, we came away with the shell piece (for the Lodi shield), Lodi boots, and the Club of the Ice Ocean. Xab got his eyepatch after doing the turn-ins, Rashindo won the shell and got the shield after turn-ins, Cibulan won the boots cause no one else was CAWU and I won the club, again, cause no one else was CAWU. (I used it last night after that in ToFS and god damn.... I love it! Proc baby proc! A cleric! Lol.)
All in all, it was a very fun fight, very challenging, and everyone took thier deaths in stride. We mobilized fast, we worked well together, and we won. I look forward to doing it again! (P.S. In the rush, I looted my body all the way like a fool, so could not get a rez, but I was totally fine with that.)
Anyway, I know I missed some funny/key/interesting stuff that happened. This is just my account of it. Others will have different versions. Post here and let us know your perspective.
Actually, I think Tymmy's pet was still alive and kicking right up until Tymmy tried to land a Fear on the big turtle. It took great offense at that and summoned poor 854hp Tymmy several times.
Soon as I sent him into the fight I did "/pet no taunt"

Well, I was in seb with Kat, Rash, HH, Benik, Nan, and some random person. We could have been there sooner but we had to succor to zone to drop random person, and then HH was bugged... the things that bite you when you are in a rush. As soon as we got there I jbooted and peeled. I saw him near TOFS with xab kiting him and ez there, and I foolishly assumed ez was FM and that HH and Kat were right behind me (I was wrong on all 3 counts, it turns out ) I laid into him old-school and next thing I know he was beating the living shit out of me and down I went. Someone rezzed me almost immediately, and I grabbed my sword shield and armor and went back at him, cutting loose with a HT again. This time he was down to about 17% when I went down. The last thing I saw was Cibulan go down, and then Tymmy loading him up with dots, and also going down. The funny thing is if we had gotten organized we prob could have killed him with no deaths, but if we could do it any differently I don't think I would choose to, there were (when I went down) 4 peeps from Wraith in zone and someone had OOCed "is someone taking lodi".
It was an exhilirating fight. Who got me some screenshots?

Yeah, soon as I got there it was Pet, Augment pet, Lich, Plague, Splurt, Bond of Death, Darkness and a try at Fear. He was ignoring me until that fear
I think we work well together even being ungrouped in a ragtag assault force. Like Ez said, organization may have helped heals a lot though.

OMG guys that is great, sigh, how I miss you all. That sounded like it was hella fun. I wish I could of been there to carve out a piece of his ass. You guys need to stop having fun, I dont like wanting to play EQ again! Good job just the same.

OMG that sounds SOO fun I wish I could have come and helped I would have gladly died for Xab to get his peice.... I died the other day 6 times in a 2 hour battle to kill Renux for the rogue epic... let me tell u.... 4 duids one ranger and a rogue can NOT take out renux easlly lol she is one mean bitch but it was fun after so long I let her kill me so I could have mana to DoT lol next time u guys kill lodi I would love to come for the fun.... just give me a yell

Well, the turtle has fallen again, this time to the combined might of Da Hui, Elusive Path, Fellowship of the Phoenix, Company of Valor, Healers United, Inverted Horizon's and Ordo Seculum.
Yes, we were in ToFS for EP alt night. Yes, we hear that Lodzial is once again up. (2 times in 24 hours.) Yes, we scramble. Benik/Healinghands puts out the call to arms in the ACOF channel and guildies and allies alike come running.
We were more organized this time. Only deaths were Benik while he was kiting and a couple Fellowship folks while they tried to help kite. Once the tanks got there and engaged, it was easy. Cheals kept them up and with the nuke/dot support Lodi went down fast.
Our own Cibulan won the map piece for that awesome eyepatch of plunder, and rumor has it he is camping the other parts of the map right now. The shield went to Inverted Horizon's. Elusive Path's very own Ouzer won the Club of the Ice Ocean. Kenlaien from Fellowship won the Lodzial Boots which were rolled on for alts cause no mains wanted them.
All in all, much more efficient, and great loot. Our Da Hui total:
Out of 2 Lodzial kills we have taken in 2 map peices (to become eyepatches of plunder), 1 Lodi shield, 1 Club and 1 Lodi boots. Nice haul for our guild. (Plus 1 Club to Ouzer who raids with us frequently and still holds a special place in our guild.) Great haul for all.

I get a feeling we are getting turtle kills because everyone is so busy exploring the new zones that when Lodi pops the big guilds really cant be bothered. (I did not even see any "uber" guilds pop in and inquire about Lodi this time.) More exciting and less time consuming for them to just stay in the planes than to port. Since high level characters attention is distracted at the moment, we should make the most of it. Get Lodi as much as we can now, while they aint looking. I'll be watching again tonight..

It's great to see Da Hui making it's mark. Yeah, we aren't one of those huge Ubah guilds, but we are mighty powerful and have a great group of folks.
I have to get Iccy in on all this fun. Even if I go down fast that just means I can hit it with more HT's

I was getting new spells for Henge when I heard Xab say Lodi was up in guild chat. I camped and logged Sleeka, who was at the port point in EJ. Luckily, there was a druid sitting there already. 'I have to get to Iceclad fast, it's kind of an emergency'. 'Sure, I'll take you, just waiting for my friend.' Well, we waited a bit, then he says: 'Follow me'. I began following him, and he started tracking his friend. All the while I'm seeing 'Pull him that way!' and 'So-and-so just went down!' in the channel. I'm trying to be patient, but it's real hard when your friends are dying. Finally, we find his friend. 'So, you wanted to go to Iceclad?' 'Yes.' 'Now?' 'Yes.' 'Are you ready?' 'YES YES YES! '
After porting in, I ran to TOFS, and found the battle. Started hitting it, and I'm thinking 'Which end is the back, is that the tail or the head? I think I'm behind it...' It goes on a rampage. Ouze is standing to my left, and it looks like he's trying to cast feign. Doesn't work. Then, it looks like he's trying again, and it looks like it does work, only it says 'Ouze's Corpse' over his body. 'Uh oh, this is gonna hurt...' *WHAM* *WHAM* WHAM*! Yikes! Maybe if I back off, it will switch to someone else... *WHAM* *WHAM* *WHAM*! Screw this, *feign*. No wham wham wham. Woo! It worked, I get to live. I'm at half hits, so I mend, stand up, and start swinging again. At this point, I think it's Rash on one side, and me on the other. I'm thinking 'C'mon Rash, stay alive, stay alive...' and I'm wondering 'How the hell IS Rash staying alive? That thing handed my tail to me in 2 rounds...' Not sure, but I think after a little while, Rash failed to stay alive, cause Lodi started chain-summoning all of the casters. Lodi was really hurt, and I'm thinking: 'Gee, I really hope I can finish him off before we run out of casters.' He's running! Ha! Take this you overgrown football! You gain experience! Hmm... possible upside to everyone else dying.

That's right. Da Hui 3... Lodzial 0. 3 nights in a row Xab has been camping the turtle and it has popped. (I have also been on all 3 times, so maybe the 2 of us together are good luck.)
This time was more of a throwback to the first time. We were organized, but there were not enough people online to get the deed done the first time. Surprisingly, while we rezed and recruited more help, no guild came to steal it and Benik was able to kite it around for a good 20 mins. Finally we got more people online and we amassed a larger force and boom.... down goes the turtle. At the end, Ravynne's guild, Forlorn Heroes popped in to help us (or to kill it themselves, but I think they were there to help. Either way we got the kill so no matter.) and we finished off the turtle. After much rezing we rolled.
Grats to Ouze, who just posted today above that he wated the eyepatch and lo and behold, got the map piece that will get him the eyepatch. Also, grats to Cibulan who won the shell piece for the shield. (That is 3 items; a shield, boots and a map piece for Cib in 3 days! Share the wealth will ya! Lol.) Also, grats to Healinghandz on the Club of the Ice Oceans and grats to Rashindo on the Lodzial boots. (Again, Rash, shield and boots in 3 days.... damn lucky bugger.)
Xab has announced he is going to try for Lodi again tomorrow, and you know I will be there. Come one come all, come on and join us so we have force to take that turtle out again if it pops. More loot for Da Hui means more loot for all of us as our members get more powerful and are able to help everyone get more powerful. Grats to all who won.

P.S. Funniest part of the night was Saibok, who's house I was over at and who's computer I was playing on, called Ouze over the phone when Lodi popped and left a funny message. "Where are you, you be home when I call you! You have failed me, you not up when Lodi popped!" It was hilarious. Of course, there was me yelling in the background "Ouze, we need you!" Lol.

btw Ez, found out the hard way... but if youre looting your corpse and you notice you've taken everything off... don't do anything! Just sit there... after a while you will automaticaly stop looting your corpse and it is still sitting there, just waiting for a rez Don't know how long your corpse will last now... was too afraid to do anything I rezzed myself likidisplit... before the rest of my group hehe ooops
