Dearly Beloved [6/7 ; ISO: Ginny]
Impossible.
That was all Harry could think when he'd found out. Well, actually, when he'd first found out there was absolutely nothing going through his head. For a long time, he'd just sat there with the newspaper in his lap, eyes as big as saucers, and mouth hanging open. It was only after a minute or two that he’d managed to gather his thoughts, which threw him into a panic. After that, Harry had been furiously pacing around his entire house, not knowing what he should do, though feeling the need to move or do something. But there was little he could do and that seemed to frustrate him even more as he continued his ardent pacing. Harry had even gone out of the house and paced around the town for a bit in an attempt to clear his mind so he would be able to think clearer. But that attempt was in vain for it seemed unlikely that Harry would ever calm down after hearing the news.
Ginny was pregnant.
It wasn’t as if her being dragged off to Azkaban for the murder of her brother, Percy, wasn’t enough. After that incident, Harry had become enraged and done whatever he could to help Ginny’s cause, but all of his attempts seemed to be in vain. Still, Harry had fought to get her out of Azkaban or at least be able to speak to her. After all, Harry knew that Ginny had been framed. She had been at his house the day Percy was murdered. Of course, he couldn’t contest to the fact that she’d been at his house the exact moment that Percy was killed, but she’d been there, knocked out by Percy himself, with a note saying that he was going to die. But apparently the evidence against Ginny was far too great for even a note like that to be of any importance. It could have been forged, they said. We have no way of knowing where it came from or whether it was really written by Percy Weasley. And thus Ginny had been sentenced to Azkaban until further notice, much to the anger of many, namely Harry and the entire Weasley clan. In fact, there were many supporters of Ginny Weasley, for despite her being blacklisted by the former Minister a few years ago, she still had many loyal friends and followers who didn’t believe she’d ever kill her brother. But apparently, their words didn’t matter to the Ministry of Magic.
But on top of being put in Azkaban, Ginny was pregnant as well, according to the Daily Prophet. Many had regarded the whole thing as a scam and thought it was just an attempt by Ginny’s supporters to get some sympathy from the Wizarding World, but apparently she really was pregnant. And what was more, she refused to disclose the name of the father, which was what really had gotten Harry panicked. His first thought was that it was his. Despite all those warnings that teens were given during their period of raging hormones, Ginny and Harry had, well, slept together without thinking of the consequences. And now it seemed that both of them would suffer the consequences. But then the thought that maybe it wasn’t Harry’s entered his mind, and oddly enough, that seemed to make him even more panicked. Had Ginny run off with someone else after he’d refused to join the newly reformed Order of the Phoenix? Was she refusing to disclose the name of the father because she didn’t want to hurt him? No, no, Ginny wouldn’t do that. What she would do though, was protect him, which was what Harry finally decided she was doing. She didn’t want to tell the press because well, then they would hound him and Ginny knew that Harry wouldn’t want that. Despite their constant bickering, Ginny was one of the few people who really understood Harry.
At the same time, Harry couldn’t help but linger on the other option as well. He needed to hear the truth from Ginny. He needed to talk to her and hear from her that the child was his. He needed to hear that it was him who had gotten her in this mess.
Merlin, if he’d only been more responsible that night in February…
Harry had spent a long time trying to set up a meeting with Ginny. He’d attempted many times before hearing the news of Ginny’s pregnancy, but now that he knew, he was as determined as ever to see Ginny and talk to her. He used every single connection he had to get an appointment and after what seemed like weeks, he was finally able to secure himself a brief meeting with Ginny alone. There would be guards, of course, but there would be no on in the room to hear their conversation, which was probably the best for both of them. The last thing either of them needed was for the contents of their conversation being leaked to the press.
And so finally, June seventh came around. Harry had apparated to the designated location at which point he was escorted to Azkaban. It was an understatement to say that Harry was anxious. He was on edge the entire time and when he was finally walking through the unwelcoming halls of Azkaban prison, he felt every muscle in his body tense up. He forbade himself to look around, not wanting to think about that fact Ginny was forced to live under these conditions. The thought of Sirius having to stay in the place for twelve years also entered Harry’s mind and he shuddered at the thought. Had he been allowed to take his wand in, he would have been gripping it tightly, ready to conjure a patronus at the first dementor who came too close to him.
“Wait here. We’ll bring her in soon,” the guard said gruffly as he left Harry in a cold, empty room. There was a metal table that was bolted to the floor, along with two metal chairs on either side of the table. Harry tentatively sat down as the guard walked out. He glanced around, nervously awaiting Ginny’s arrival.
