Distracted (eddie)

Hawthorne wandered down the hallway, on her way back from the library. Today she was wearing the knee-length denim skirt she had bought, but she had paired it with her fave Cannibal Corpse t-shirt. She was distracted, her nose buried in a book of Native American Myths. She was so distracted that she didn't notice the doorknob she was turning wasn't actually to her own room.

She pushed her one pigtail back. She had been too lazy to braid them today, and just had several elastic bands wrapped around them. It was so much simpler, and she had been in a hurry to go out. She had managed to slip on her new moccasins rather than her old ones though, at least. As she entered the room, she looked up, startled to discover that it was not her room.

Re: Distracted (eddie)
Kane only moved into room 1 a little while ago, a few hours maybe, and by looking around his empty room it was fairly obvious. His open bag sat on the right bed. The closet to the left side was open and all that was in there was a blue jacket hanging up. His pilot goggles were sitting on the table. The only thing hanging up on the wall was a small French flag.

Standing in the middle of the room was Kane. He had just gotten back from showering after a long training session. Though he'd been training for a while he wasn't tired at all, in fact he felt as though he could go again, but didn't want to push himself too much. So there he was, wearing a pair of loose jeans that had dirt marks on them. They were his favourites. He was looking into his bag, trying to decide what shirt to wear. He finally grabbed a black singlet when the door to his room opened.

Looking over, the shirtless boy's blue eyes came into contact with a girl. Curious as to why she entered his room, Kane spoke up. " Uh... 'ello? Is there something I can 'elp you with?" He asked, his French accent coming in clearly as he spoke.

Re: Distracted (eddie)

Thorne's eyes widened as she took in the sparse toom she had entered. Apparently she had just intruded on a new student's space. She blushed bright red in embarassment, and nervously began chewing on her lip ring, examining the area.

She noticed the open bag, obviously the guy was unpacking, the single jacket in the closet, and the flag on the wall. She didn't recognize it, but then again, she had never studied world flags, so that wasn't too surprising.

It was what was in the middle of the room that really drew her attention. There was a rather attractive male standing in the middle of the room, hair wet from a recent shower. His jeans were still dirty, and he had a black shirt in his hand. Beyond her ability to control, she viewed his muscled form, coming to a halt as her grey eyes locked with his deep, manly blue ones.

" Uh... 'ello? Is there something I can 'elp you with?"

Oh my. Could he be any more perfect? What an accent! It was as if he had stepped off the cover of a romance novel. She offered him a tremulous smile, a little out of character with her piercings and black t-shirt. His speech broke through to her though, and she jumbled her words together in her haste to get them out.

"Oh! Nosorry. Ijust wandered intothe wrongroom, I wasn't payingattention. Sosorry, I'll gonow."

She started backing up towards the door, desperate to escape the sticky situation. How far in had she come? It felt like it was taking ever to exit the room.

Kane gave her a confused look. She was obviously embarrassed about the whole situation, but he couldn't figure out why. He watched her back up, Kane quickly spoke, as if trying to stop her. " It's alright. I guess it was just a mistake, no problem." He said. Thinking for a second, Kane spoke again. " What's your name? Do you live in the room next door?" He asked.

" It's alright. I guess it was just a mistake, no problem."

He startled her so much when he spoke again that she dropped her book. Trying to stay her nerves, she took a deep breath, still backing up. She at least owed him an answer after all the barging in nonsense. She did wish that he would put his shirt on.

"Thankyou for understanding. Sorry again, I should prolly go now though."

" What's your name? Do you live in the room next door?"

"My name's Hawthorne and I do live next door. Maybe I'll see you around sometime. I really should let you finish up in here though."

She was so nervous and uptight at the moment, why wasn't he dressed yet? She whirled around to exit the room, and tripped over the book she had forgotten she had dropped. She pitched forward, heading for the lintel.

" Huh?" Kane replied. It was then that he realised his shirt still in his hand. That explained why she was so embarrassed anyway. He went to put it on and saw her trip on her book. Quickly, Kane closed the distance between them and held his arms out, allowing her to fall right into them. He looked the stranger in the eyes and simply smiled at first. " I'm Kane." He replied, still smiling at her, yet once again forgetting his shirtlessness.

She went pitching forward, right into the boy's arms. She didn't know how he had manged to cross the distance, it had felt like she had made it so far as she had tried to back away, but apparently she had only made it a few steps. An all over blush started creeping up on her as she realized that the half-naked man who was staring into her eyes. If Hawthorne had been the swooning type, this would be the moment that would cause it.

" I'm Kane."

She looked up into the boy's smiling face, and felt a warm glow cover her. He was so sweet. She righted herself, using his arms to help pull her upwards, and offered him a real smile this time, not the embarassed uncomfortable one she had used before. After all, she had just been up close and personal with all that hard muscle.

"And I'm clumsy. Thank you for catching me, Kane. It was very quick-witted of you."

Kane flashed a full tooth smile as he helped the stranger to her feet. It was then that he decided he would finally put on the black shirt that was in his hands. " So what should I call you then, Hawthorne or clumsy?" He asked, pulling the shirt over his head. For a moment he wondered how he got into such a scenario as catching some random girl. Now that he thought about it, her reaction to when she saw him was kind of funny.

Re: Distracted (eddie)

Thank the Great Spirit the boy was finally getting dressed. Perhaps Thorny would finally be able to think straight. After all, the rippling manflesh was awfully distracting. She stood a bit back from Kane as he dressed, fiddling with her pigtails. His smile though, that was stunning. She kinda understood what a deer in the headlights felt like with all those pearly's aimed at her.

" So what should I call you then, Hawthorne or clumsy?"

She chuckled, finally starting to relax. If the boy could make lighthearted jokes, than he must be a good sort. It was an awkward situation that they met in, but he was taking it rather well.

"You can call me either or, everyone seems to shorten my name whichever way they want. No one calls me clumsy though, not that I make a habit of bursting into rooms and falling into the arms of the nearest half-clothed hunk . . ."

She drifted off . . . now she was gonna compound her whole bursting into the bedroom scenario by babbling. Excellent first impression she was making here.

Kane moved over to the desk, picked up his pilot goggles and slipped them onto his head. " Uh yeah, sorry 'bout that. I didn't realise." He replied, laughing at his own forgetfulness. After catching on to that he understood why the girl was so embarrassed. After pushing the blonde hair out of his eyes, Kane looked to the stranger once more. " So neighbor, how long have you been a student here?" He asked.

Usually when he was around other people, Kane tended to hide his accent a little more to try and speak clearer, so this time was no exception. He could dull it down a little but it was always there.

She watched curiously as the boy slipped a pair of goggles onto his head. It made him look like a character out of an anime. She had never met anyone who wore goggles on their head in real life. She giggled. He kinda looked like Ty from Digimon now.

" Uh yeah, sorry 'bout that. I didn't realise."

"That's okay. Most people expect to be able to wear whatever they want in their own room, especially if they aren't sharing."

He had a nice laugh, and rather nice hair too. It kinda reminded her of a model, all artfully careless. She knew a few people who mussed their hear regularly, as a sign of thoughtfulness. She wondered what the boy was thinking.

" So neighbor, how long have you been a student here?"

"Not long. A few weeks, maybe? School was supposed to start a little while ago, but something happened and they haven't started yet."

Kane scratched his head lightly. So school hadn't even started yet, and he left his mother behind for no reason at all then. Still, perhaps the environment could help him learn better. " As you probably already guessed, I'm the new guy." He said. Kane smiled again, though he couldn't exactly figure out why. Maybe he was happy meeting new people with powers or something.

Looking around the room, he began to realise that he really didn't have that much stuff. Kane's bag was fairly small and it didn't fit much, but he didn't own all that much anyway.

"Well new guy, I guess I've managed to volunteer myself as the Welcome Wagon. Welcome to Manga High School. If you should require a tour of the grounds, I'd be more than happy to guide you around the facilities."

Hawthorne giggled at the end of her little spiel. She was immitating the voice used in those cheesy video brochures. It was funny, and she was trying to make the boy forget her earlier awkwardness.

"So, you pack light, eh? I was the same. Still, I've done a lot of shopping since I got here, for some reason. I think I've tripled my worldly possessions in the last couple of weeks."

Kane laughed at Hawthorne's imitation. " Thank you for the welcome, 'Awthorne." He replied, his accent slipping strongly into the sentence for a moment. He ran his fingers through his hair to try and keep it out of his eyes. It was still pretty wet from the previous shower, which may have been why it was falling all out of place. " I will 'ave to take you up on that tour offer. I still don't know my way around 'ere." He explained.

" I don't really own that much anyway. A lot of my stuff was left at my parent's 'ouse in France." He explained, a little mad that he didn't get it back. Though what would a sixteen-year-old kid do with a seven-year-old's toys anyway.

" Thank you for the welcome, 'Awthorne."

"It's my pleasure and privilege to greet you. I made a close friend when he welcomed me to the school, and I'm just trying to spread that."

Yummy. She loved the way he said her name. What an accent the fella had. She couldn't understand why he would try to cover it up, it really added to the attraction of him. She had a bit of a twinge of conscience though. After all, here she was drooling over some guy when she had feelings for Jun.

" I will 'ave to take you up on that tour offer. I still don't know my way around 'ere."

It was completely forgotten though when he spoke and ran his hand through his hair. The boy was just too dreamy to pass up, and he was speaking to her! Plain, dumpy Hawthorne. Maybe Ayeka was right, and there really was something to this whole dressing in girl's clothes nonsense.

"Excellent. Let me know, anytime. I'm usually in my room next door, or out in the Garden of Silver Light. They seem to be the two places I spend the most time."

" I don't really own that much anyway. A lot of my stuff was left at my parent's 'ouse in France."

A house in France? That was pretty exciting. He must have lived such an exotic lifestyle, what with that evidence of world travelling. She was a little jealous, if Thorne was honest with herself, but she let it go.

"You grew up in France? That sounds exciting . . ."

Kane wondered what kind of things they had at this school. Just by wandering around to find the dorms he could tell it was a large school. " Garden of Silver Light? It sounds nice. Uh... tell me 'Awthorne, what kind of stuff does this school 'ave?" He asked. He assumed there was a gym. If there wasn't he might as well back up and go home again.

"You grew up in France? That sounds exciting . . ."

Kane simply nodded. " I was born there. I spent seven years in France before we moved back to America." He explained briefly. The whole reason as to why they moved back was something he kept to himself. Personal information like that was not something Kane liked to share with strangers.

"The Garden is pretty. What else do we have here? Lemme think. There's the library, cafeteria, gym, clinic, the lake, waterfall, mountain, forest and a whole bunch of places in Buffalo that are easy to get to."

He seemed to be really interested in the school, which was cool. If he was asking questions, it was more likely that he would stick around for awhile. Quite a few people had shipped out since classes hadn't started. Thorne was pretty sure her roommate was one of them.

" I was born there. I spent seven years in France before we moved back to America."

"Cool. I was born and raised in Canada. MHS is the farthest out of the country I've ever gotten, and it's barely over the border. I'd love to travel one day, though."

Good, there was a Gym. Kane would be able to stick around after all. If there wasn't one, there would have been something seriously wrong with this place. " From what I've seen the school is very big. I think I'll be sticking around for a while." He said, as he looked up to the ceiling. He almost felt selfish for leaving his family behind to come here. But then again, it was there decision.

"Cool. I was born and raised in Canada. MHS is the farthest out of the country I've ever gotten, and it's barely over the border. I'd love to travel one day, though."

" I've never been to Canada, but France is a beautiful country, the city of love as they say. Come to think of it, my Uncle set up a trip for me to go back there with my mother. But she's not up for it. If you want to leave America you should come with me." Kane said. It was sad that his mother refused to go, still, there was no use in letting the ticket go to waist.

" From what I've seen the school is very big. I think I'll be sticking around for a while."

"It is very big, but that's because there has to be a lot of room for all the students to practice their very different powers. Without the variation, that would be really hard."

" I've never been to Canada, but France is a beautiful country, the city of love as they say. Come to think of it, my Uncle set up a trip for me to go back there with my mother. But she's not up for it. If you want to leave America you should come with me."

Hawthorne stopped dead. She had heard him wrong, right? This gorgeous she had just met hadn't just invited her to leave the country with him, had he? She looked at him in utter bewilderment, and shook her head. Okay, so no one was perfect. He wasn't a thinker, obviously, but he was so good looking . . .

When Hawthorne stopped dead, Kane looked at her with a confused look on his face as he thought back to why she would act this way. It was then that he was rendered speechless, remembering what he said. He didn't mean to, sometimes he got on little rants and lost his train of thought. The wrong things tended to slip out when he did. Oh boy, he had to cover for this.

"I think I'd have to know you a lot better before I wandered over the globe with you. Personal preference you know . . ."

" Um..." He began. Could she not have possibly acted like he was joking? Kane may have been stupid but he wasn't THAT stupid. " I... and you-" He managed to get out. Kane felt like he should run over and bang his head against something. " Sorry? Sometimes I don't think about what I say." He said, rather proud that he could put together a whole sentence.

She laughed, apparently he was as awkward about the offer as she was, and that was cute. She smiled and patted his arm.

"Don't worry about it. We all get caught up in our rants occasionally, I won't hold it against you. After all, it was a very sweet offer."

The poor dumb boy, she wondered if he could count to twenty. Maybe if he used his toes too . . . That was uncharitable, but she really enjoyed perfect people having flaws. It was bad of her.
