Does anyone know how to beat a monk?
I have a monk friend who beats me duels and holds it over my head, i really want to get him back and show him what a rogue can do. If it helps hes lvl 65, has an ornate BP, 25pt dmg shield ring, ele boots, both epics and pretty much the best the bazaar has to offer. He uses a Firey Staff of Za and has around 4k hp. If anyone knows some tactics to use or some good poisons your help would be greatly appreciated.
Would need your gear also, but generally... you're going to have a rough, if not impossible time. My best suggestion, is to get a tendonslicer, and as soon as the proc goes off, stick behind him with duelist. If his resists are weak enough for poisons, I would suggest a snare poison if you have no slicer, or a root/slow poison. without some form of snare etc., you are most likely going to lose.
AA'd monks with decent gear can gain too many hp's too quick to be beat by a rogue standard.

Here is my magelo if it helps. I have looked through some posions and i am prolly gonna use some attack/movement rate slow poisons and some larger dots.

Get some sham potions of yer own, joust him if you can. Poisons are ass, they dont last worth sh*t. Unfortunetly....If you can fire a blind/snare off on him, pop Duelist and hope it kills him...Rogs are underpowered, there Min BSs are too low, monk 2hand will be same or more than your min BS...so jousting could be bad. Let me know how it turns out

fighting anyone with a huge 2h and a damage shield is almost an auto-loss for a rogue. Turn on damage shield spam, and try to debuff him maybe. I assume he can see invis? If not, there's always hide. hehe.
If you snare him, it's going to be almost as bad for yourself anyways. You have to get all the way to his back to BS him, but all he has to do is spin to beat the crap outta you. This will just keep you close to him, which is what he wants for a quick kill anyway.
Dont forget that the he gets mend every 6 mins? something like that. so a longer fight is much more in his favor too.
Monks are a HUGE pain to fight. you're going to have to try and catch him with a quick duelist and hope it's enough to kill him through stonestance. Good luck!

Im guessing his damage shield ring is the one from chardok quest, which means its 5 charges, rechargable, and instant click - so dispelling it isnt gonna be much of an option if he protects it with other instaclicks. Beating him with that on will be basically impossible. If you can get him to not use it, then you have a chance.
If his resists are lowish use a snare poison, if not just go for a DD poison as it has a chance of partial hit at least. I would suggest a tactc of sticking on him rather then jousting for 2 important reasons. One, his fiery staff of Zha is going to hurt a lot during a joust, and will likely out damage you unless you are perfect on the backstabs. Second, Jousting is slow and will draw the match out giving him multiple opportunities to mend. You want the fight to be as fast as possible so he doesnt get multiple mend refreshes.
With equal gear and equal skill, the monk will beat you every time. Your only chance is to out gear him and/or be a much better dueler.

I duel this one rogue all the time, even though I beat him like a red headed step child, he comes up with new ideas and tricks to try and get me.
One is to summon about 500 shissar fangs and "Dot kite" me with them.
I weild a dathor when I pvp, so I usually connect for 400-1600ish depending on a crit, each hit.
How would I beat me? SoW! be faster, don't let him hit you. Have LR5 less hits from him, (Monks dodge from behind now btw too, less BS damage for you :P)
If you don't get some decent "back time" on me, you aren't going to beat me unless you are way superior in gear, and are able to keep me from jousting you.

For the DS try to get your hands on "Softly Glowing Lantern"
from granic obulus in SSra.
For the frontal problem, do you have the "Trochilc's Skean"
drops from Renux Herkabor in SFMountains when you do epic.
One lucky proc and you have a spinning monk, its time to fire duelist and hope his back is to you for the BS.
I had to camp that lantern a lot during VT key farming and Ore farming for Ssra bane weapon, I also used one to beat a druid in duel, he even used sotw just to be dispelled for the 9th time, was a great feeling to beat a druid , of course I duelled him somewhere he couldnt run but he accepted thinking I was an easy kill with DS and corner heal trick.

Get a dispel magic item to take care of his DS. There is a crystalized pumice stone that is on potion vendors.

No monk alone can ever come close to defeating me in the Bazzar arena. Then again I 2 Box a 65 Wizard with PoTime gear but that is neither here nor there. When in doubt. . .Lure him out.

Keep in mind he only has 5 charges of that c-dok ring so yeah try dispelling him. Only problem with that is you need to get the dispel off before he hits you . . . Fiery Staff of Zha is cool and all but the poster who mentioned he uses a Dathor has the right idea on what weapons to use for jousting. I can't look up magelo on this stupid ass computer the firewall won't allow it so I don't know what you gots but if you got a weapon in the 16/17 dmg area you might be able to outjoust him, mends are a total bitch though. Just have the 2 biggest dmg weapons and like, hope for the best I guess. You shouldn't do too bad in the trading dmg department if you can get off the backstab in every joust. It's only like a 40 dmg weapon right?
