Does anyone read the boards anymore?
Man i am so freaking tired of logging on and sitting there watching my Cash i pay for eq go down the drain. And noone else seems to mind.A few peeps are still intrested in raiding it seems.I have offered,Ez has,Ken has,Ket has all offered to lead raids, and a few have said they will attend raids. But no one can seem to find the time to attend raids. And Cikki and Spear have also lead and offered many times.\
It seems all we want to do is make and army of alts.I know i have 7 alts myself,But not outta wanting to make alts but outta fuggin boredom.I am really frustrated that no one wants to do anything anymore. We used to have ALOT of fun doin shit together and now it seems no one wants to.
I took Jarce outta DH and put him into a raiding guild because i was tired of doin nothing. Some of us even have toons in 2 even 3 diff guilds.I was totaly commited to DH for a long time and still am to a point. And would be again if anyone ever wanted to do anything. All my friends are here and this is where my heart is.But man,its so frustrating seeing all the potential we have and no one doing anything with it.
We don't have to go get flagged for elementals or br keyed for VT.But i am so tired of logging on and seeing nothing but lvl 30 toons running around.Granted alts are fun,But why did we lvl our toons and get our AA's? To PL our alts?Get better gear for our alts? Myself? I lvl'd Jarce and getting AA's to make him a viable tank for Whomever needs me.to progress in the game and still have fun.I know this is a long and outta no where post and am probably rambling.I apologize if i am and have made anyone mad.Thoise of you that know me know this is not my intent. What is my intent. To see if you guys wanna do something besides see who has the best twink.
I want to get a rise outta ya,I want you to think-What do i want to do? Is this all there is? Can we raid anything or go kill anything that takes a grp of friends to kill? I saw eeryone doin Vindi shortly after i took J out.And though maybe something is happening. But soon as Ez takes a break it all fell apart.
So i will end this here. just one last question What do you want from your EQ experience? What do you want for your toon/toons?.
Sorry for the rant ,Just a bit frustrated.

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
personally, i'm not sick of DH, I'm sick of EQ. You haven't seen me on cause I cancelled my account a week ago.

Everquest simply is not fun for me anymore. It's like another job, but one i don't get paid for.

I could (and please, don't take this as a hidden message towards you or anyone else, cause it isn't) have gone to a different guild. While Ouze was not uber, about 30 more aa, a few flags, and i could have recruited in a bigger guild. Perhaps even an "uber" guild - I do have the odd friend in the high place. But frankly, i don't even think that would be fun, either. Raiding every night, for 6 hours a night - no thanks. I have a job.

And what is left for me? Doing LDoN? Even staying in DH I could have gotten gear that's close to elemental (but with less glorious effects). But frankly, the idea of spending the next 3 months (i worked it out to about 15 days played time) so i could have another 900 or so hp.... i found that less then appealing.

So, that's why I don't log on anymore. Cause I cant :)

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
I too would really really love to see us do more attempts at raiding cool stuff, and as you all know I have posted to that effect before. That being said, however, I get the impression that right now we're kinda in a lull for DH and maybe EQ in general. A lot of people are on a hiatus from EQ atm, like Ez and Ouze and such, which is very healthy and happens to all of us of course. I think that as spring starts happening we all tie ourselves up (not literally, Bok...your autoeroticasphyxiation obsession is not to be encouraged) with a few new things or just start going outside a little more. I think that what you're saying is very very valid, Jarce. You and I were just noting yesterday that everyone seemed to be missing. I am all for the orginization of a few of the raids that you mentioned in your other thread, and will take leadership of one or two if you'd like. I think that right now we may just be in a bit of a downswing, though, so let's post them and make sure that people sign up, etc. I know that UG has been having quite a few issues with assembling enough people to do some of their raiding....I think that they are running into a little of the same. Let's give it a few weeks, make a master plan for at least one raid during that time, and see what happens. =)

As always, just let me know if you need help. :help I will be there asap. :horse

My problem is that my hours leave me on when no one else is or very few. I am hoping that having M/T/W as my new days off soon will allow me to spend more time with you all when you are on en force.

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
Well.. yea.. I want to raid.. and got it hit me hard about the alt thing being that I do seem to be the alt queen =\ Mostly I made my alts so that I have something to play when there is nothing going on.. and for the most part unless Spear takes me off on some wild and wacky adventure I am left trying to find other things to do.
I have been raiding with ORQ a lot lately.. am actually beginning to see a tiny dent in my planar flags and got a nice sword from a BoT tower raid last night.
That's all well and good... BUT.. I would much rather be with MY people.. joking and having fun.. instead of just putting my nose to the grind for 4 hours and speaking to hardly noone.
Unfortunately.. especially as of late there seems to be 11 people tops in guild 95% of the time.. and at least 2 of those are parked in baz.. and I think most of us know that I play at least 14 hours out of almost everyday.

The weather is changing.. people are going to start doing RL things.. it is always like this.. it will always be like this.. and so I will continue to play my army of alts until something worthwhile for Cheri comes into play.
The question is.. what will happen when all of my alts are "all growed up?" ; )
Keep your chin up J!

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
hehe thats about it Cheri...I can't get a toon to a high lvl as most high lvl people wanna get exp of their own..doin Ldon or BoT or some such stuff that I just can't do..Im always willing to go anywhere I can...My SK is 2blues from 34...coming along nice..think I will keep Faitth around 52 as I really like the tanking thing...I much prefer guild groups over others...but there are fewer and fewer on most of the time..especially since I play mostly during the day when others are in school or work..or purely enjoying the nicer weather../shudder sun eeek!! TX weather doesnt make me happy lol I need snow and cold....so I don't like being out in the 100degree summer weather :/ NO it is only 80ish here but ya know what I mean I do my outtings early as I can..then play EQ hehe....Did an Ldon today with only 4 people as one of the grp went LD it was quite good and pretty fast lol..Im always ready fer a grp or adv or raid....but I play alot for casaual chat and such too hehe I don't want it to feel like a job rather than a game :) :barb :freak

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
Well, I fer one took a 3 week break from EQ. During that time I was wondering if I would even return. Alas I have returned, and find I still really like the game... I just do not like most of the people whom play it. So I came back, and am tryin to have more patcience with peeps, and to stay away from pick up groups. Why do I play my alts? Well most everytime I log in, I log in with Juls. I ask in guild if anyone needs my help, if anythin is goin down, and I would have to say on a non-raid night (mondays and what not) 90% of the time I can get nothin goin on with him. I still like playin him, ( tho breaks from now and then do me good) and I have so many needs and wants with him, but It is hard fer me to drag my ass to say BoT or Tacs to LFG, knowin I will have to deal with atleast one jackass. So I then log on my alts, to hang with the army of alts, as they are guildies, and much, much better then pick up groups. Would I be interested in Raidin with Juls? Yes I would, but as I am not an experienced Raid leader, I must wait fer others to get things planned, and then I must hope that I can make it on that day and time. So I am back, and I will try my best to make it to any and all raids I can help out on. If, When I do Log on, and ye are playin ye alts because there was nothin goin on with ye mains, well damn it, when I ask if anythin is goind down, if anyone needs me, Speak up! So what if ye main isn't 65, or it is but ye do not want to get somthin goin yeself. There are places to go and mobs to kill!! I would much rather take a trip to say Droga, or Veksar then sit in EF LFA. I am ramblin on now, so will leave it at that. I Hope to see ye all in Norrath soon :)

P.S. Ouze, ye will be missed. Ye have been more then kind to this poor lizard. They will be shoutin ye name amonsts the arguments over the most feared Hero of the past fer years, and years to come. < Julsis bows twoards Ouze> Stay safe and Hunt well, me friend.

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
I read these boards every day, as part of a small job I do for another guild, and have finally summoned up the courage to offer my opinion......here it is:

I wish you guys would open up your recruiting, perhaps even change your selection process a bit, to keep DH vibrant. A truly great guild does not focus on having only members geared for the Plane of Time, a truly great guild will consist of members from all classes and all races, every level from about 25 up, and players in all time zones. My cleric would have loved to be in DH but could never find an opportunity to play with any guild members or to meet the raiding requirements. Like many other eq devotees, I play mostly during the day and early evening (9 am ET to 10 pm ET) and seldom for more than a couple of hours at a time. Raiding on a regular basis is not a viable option for me, but I know a good guild when I see one.

If any of you find my comment intrusive, I apologize. It is meant only as an observation, expressed as a concern for a fine guild that is going down the path taken by so many other fine guilds - dangerously self-sufficient. I sincerely hope I have not offended anyone.

Kindest regards

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
Well, I decided a while ago that I'm never going to get anywhere if I keep playing my alts; just don't have the time to work on more than one character. What often happens when I log on is there's no one else in guild near my level, so I end up doing pickup BoT and hard LDoN groups. I always try to include guildies in whatever I'm doing, but it's rare that people are available when the group needs them.

It's odd how my play style has changed. The other day, I was attempting the Carprin event with ORQ, and it looked like I might have to be the puller. So, I changed my incoming message from /g to /rs. It's just the sort of thing you automatically do, but it made me realize something: When was the last time I had to do that? It used to be that I pretty much left it on /rs all the time, and the exception was flipping it to /g. Now, /rs happens so rarely that it's weird.

I think the problem, if you can call it that, is that we're all burnt out (compared to years ago). We're not raiding, we're not recruiting. Everyone is willing to come to scheduled events (even though they might not be able to make it), but no one wants to set any up. It's not a criticism, it's just what we're willing to put into the game right now. Damn, I feel old.

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
Hey J :)

The last 4-5 raids I've been able to attend have been cancelled because we didn't have the numbers to do them. Arno and I are still interested in raiding when we can, but it takes us a bit of effort to get our schedule to fit raid times, so we are somewhat limited on what we can come to. I always check the Da Hui boards to see if there's raids we can help with -- I've always done that, and will always do that as long as we continue to play. The "spur of the moment" raids are harder for us to manage, so we don't usually do those.

There are so many lvl 65's in the guild now that we both feel like we're not contributing as much as we used to! Half the time, I don't even know what zones ya'll are talking about. So it kinda sucks trying to figure it all out without feeling like a newb. I think someone was running a Hedge something or other a couple of weeks ago....don't know what that is, or where it is, or whether I could even go, and I don't have the time to do all the research to get informed. So would my participation even be helpful?!? :b

Arno and I have found ourselves really slowing the pace, spending a lot of time duo'ing in older zones (finally made it to Veksar, that was fun for us). I also started an alt, a Shammy, which has also been fun because it takes so little effort to get results.....that's a nice change from my cleric, who seems to take so much effort for so little result. It's also easier for us to play at the lower levels when we only have a couple of hours to do anything. It seems like it takes and Act of Congress to get groups with our big guys.

Anyways, that's my story. We will be around, and will certainly attend raids if it's possible for us.

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
i think with O-Dogg and Ez on hiatus its slowed down the raid's cause they were the driving force behind those, Ken likes to organize stuff like that but i know he works fuxxord hours and by the time hes home theres nobody on.Tonight i came to help with vindi even swapped cause the DPS was needed. Writing this im still not happy with what i got told after i ported out and LDed and came back , but i wont go into that in an open forum and im gonna talk to ez and the other people involved in private about it.
The one thing i miss about Cold Fury is the pure and simple fact i knew id not be sitting around for 3 hours LFG, and if we werent raiding i still was able to get into something. there were no " clicks " .
the one suggestion i can offer is a night or 2 a week where you goto like vexsar or nadox or seb or somewhere like that as a guild. lvl45+ just do an old fashioned crawl. you can still have alot of fun , even though your not getting pimp exp , and it also teach's the lwr levels how to be more effective and listen on raids.
i do understand why people make alts, 90% of the time its not about " hey my twink is better than yours " but more outta " hey theres more ppl this level on during my time's than there are for my main"
maybe ppl dont come cause theyd rather play one class but know if they come they are gonna be asked to play something else.So you might need to make some acceptions to certain loot rules , say for example Ket wants to bring Kyker but clerics are needed so shes asked to bring Ket, she should be allowed , cause she was asked to switch to a toon she didnt want to bring , ceratin loopholes i guess youd say in the loot rules. and now that im rambling im going to bed and maybe i can decypher this and make it make more sence later :\

Re: Does anyone read the boards anymore?
WARNING: LONG POST. GO GET A SNACK NOW SO YOU DON'T STARVE WHILE READING!!!

:b

Let's put Kael behind us. Ket did a really good job of getting people together for it. The kill was a little bit messy, but we won so that's all that matters. I will hear no complaints or counter-complaints about anyone or anything one way or the other, or beatings will commence. It seems that everyone and their mother was in a bad mood last night, but now we will move on and go back to loving one another. :)

Now, onto other things. Julsis couldn't make Kael last night, but he was extremely proactive and tracked Tawro and Radir for us to kill off for fun in UP. It was so like the DH raids of old that I was chuckling to myself a little as I finally got to bed last night. We started out with the best of intentions and were kicking ass with our 2.5 group raid when a series of minor mistakes led to trains, repeated raid wipes, a lot of Sleeka lying on her face in the dirt waiting for the mobs to stop camping our corpses, attempted corpse runs by different people and their rogues (Stupid mobs that see hide/sneak...hehe), and eventually the long process of summoning our corpses and rezzing them. I just wrote the longest run on sentence ever seen since a Charles Dickens' novel, but that's okay. :)

Anyway, it was annoying and frustrating at the time, and people like Dim are probably rather exhausted today after being up late and having to work early, but I think almost all came out of it saying "Let's try that again". It made me miss Ouze, who in my early days in DH was often on those raids that led to one big, but fun, mess. (This does not imply that Ouze = Raid Wipe, but rather that he was often leading us off to try new stuff....honest....). I like the idea of the big raids to try new mobs, but I think we should do more stuff like this where we get a smaller raid and go kill stuff for fun. We have had a few messy fights with Zelnithak (GIANT DONKEY!!!) in the last month or so and done some other stuff with small raids that have been a blast. Not about the loot, not about the guild progess stuff....just about hanging out with our friends. :)

I am going to check my schedule, but I think Thursday or Sunday evenings, which can be slow at times, will be designated as my new "Raid for fun nights". Depending on the force we get, we will pick a target (I will have one preplanned each week, but I will not allow us to cancel a raid just because some other guild killed Mob A ten minutes before us or we have 10 people instead of 20....backup plans!!) I want it to be a flexible, just out for fun thing :D

Look for a new post by me soon about just this thing. I am going to encourage this to be a mostly DH thing to start out with....I love everyone else, but I need my DH peeps. We will work on it from there. :)

Also, (yes I know this is the longest post ever) we can discuss recruiting options, and I will be starting a new thread about that soon. Just deciding if it will be an officer discussion, a guild discussion, or an open one. Outside opinions like Medora's can be valuable, but I think outside observers can also be missing a bit of what's actually going on. Our, or rather "my" policy atm as recruiting officer is that we are open to all new-comers. We don't turn new people away at all, but the level recommendations and the guild-member endorsement policies are there for the simple reasons that we like to get to know the people that we bring on board. I think that experience bears out that someone who DH peeps have gotten to know in RL or in the game, and who has gotten a better feel for us and our oddities, stands a far better chance of becoming a long-term and valued member of our guild. I for one refuse to allow us to become a guild with a large revolving pool of recruits attached to it. That's just not the way we're built. :) Things have been slow in recent months, but that just means that all the single people in the guild need to go out there and find new significant others....without a doubt one or two of them will eventually join DH. ;)

Anyway....that's enough for now. I will just close by saying HUGS to everyone out there. (Yes, I know it makes me look like an effeminate wuss, Dim, but until you can beat me up you will have to deal!) :hug

Wow Spear! You should be in game with ME when you are feeling all lovey like this!!

I think that a small raid night sounds like a lot of fun.. there are still a lot of places I have never seen.. and tons of mobs to be killed!
Last night was a blast.. glad I jumped on in time to catch the excitement.
Will definitely be keeping a close eye on the boards to see what is going on =)

I probably won't be able to attend any Thursday night raids, since I have late night business meetings every Thursday (tonight is an exception). I'll try my best to make the Sunday ones.
