OOC
Email Address: final.ultimatum@gmail.com
Your Name: Rei
Code: HBP
IC
Full Name: Draco Lucien Malfoy
Alias: Jacob Lee Mitchell
Nickname(s): Jake, Drake (will usually not allow anyone to call him this)
DOB: August 2
Blood Type: Pureblood
Previous School/House: Draco attended Hogwarts and was in the Slytherin house, though his cover story is that he attended Drumstrang.
Subject To Teach: Defense Against the Dark Arts
Qualifications: Along with him having had a keen interest in the Dark Arts, Draco has a lot of personal experience with Dark Magic. His father was a well-known Death Eater and had taught him the ropes, showing Draco all he needed to know about the Dark Arts. Draco is probably one of the few people who isn’t an Auror or Death Eater that can and have used the three Unforgiveables, not to mention a variety of the other Dark spells. Jake Mitchell, on the other hand, hasn’t been trained in the Dark Arts, but he has a very extensive knowledge on the subject. His grades at Drumstrang were outstanding Defense Against the Dark Arts and he always showed a keen interest in it. After graduating, he did not pursue an occupation dealing with the subject, but instead decided to travel the world as both a Muggle and a Wizard, investigating many artifacts and such dealing with the subject.
Physical Appearance:
Before he ran away from the Malfoy name and disguised himself, Draco Malfoy was a thin and lithe with little visible muscle. His position as the Seeker on the Slytherin Quidditch team made his reaction time exceptional, but didn’t do much for his muscle tone, and not even staying outside for practices could darken his pale skin. But years traveling the world, pushing through tough situations, and working under the blistering sun definitely hardened the young Malfoy. He is now not only tall, standing at a very decent 6 feet, but he’s finally gotten a good deal of muscle on him, not to mention a tan. Draco Malfoy is no longer the skinny and ghostly pale boy he was when he first left the Wizarding world. His long limbs are lined with muscle, his shoulders are broader, and his hands are larger and much tougher. On his chest, he also bears a scar that he keeps hidden at all costs. It is a very long, diagonal slash across his chest. The other mark that he keeps hidden, especially whilst among wizards, is the black tattoo on his left forearm. Of course, this is no ordinary tattoo, but rather the infamous Dark Mark that signifies the followers of the Dark Lord, all of whom were supposed to be in Azkaban. But no matter how roguish he appears, Draco still seems to possess the poise of a Malfoy. Draco still holds himself tall and proud and has an extreme air of confidence about him. The way he stands makes him appear taller and more authoritative, not to mention slightly intimidating. But his movements are very fluid and elegant, hinting that he came from a very sophisticated background.
Draco’s face was hardened over the years as well, and it’s almost as if the old Draco Malfoy has completey vanished. The angular features are more squared now and the color of his hair and eyes have completely changed. With a few complicated spells, Draco was able to permanently darken his trademark platinum locks to a dirty blonde that appears almost auburn in some lights. He no longer slicks his hair back and keeps it untouched and slightly on the longer side, adding to his rebellious appearance. The icy blue eyes are also gone, now replaced by dark hazel eyes that seem a lot warmer that those arctic orbs. Draco himself finds it easier to show compassion and brighter emotions with his new eyes and does so on occasion. The changes don’t stop there, though. Draco’s thin, blonde eyebrows are now thick and dark, giving him a more intense look, and he allowed for some facial hair to grow out, making him appear more rugged. To complete his look, Draco even went so far as to get two ear piercings in his left ear and always has two silver rings in place.
As far as clothing goes, Draco has thrown away his dislike of everything Muggle, but still maintains his very fashionable style. Everything he wears, whether it be Muggle or wizard, formal or trashy, is brand name and the best. Although he had gone for quite awhile without much money, the young Malfoy managed to pull himself out of his rut and has the money to spare on such luxuries now. Draco usually goes for casual wear nowadays, feeling perfectly comfortable in jeans and a wife beater, but he occasionally will come dressed in a nice Armani suit or a customized set of dress robes once in a while, when the occasion comes up. Although he won’t really admit it, being a professor and an ‘adult’, Draco loves to dress to impress. He is still very much the conceited boy he was ten years ago and rather enjoys flaunting his sense of style and good looks to the ladies.
Personality:
Although Draco has improved very much since ten years ago, he hasn’t changed all that much. He’s gotten a lot less arrogant and cold, actually showing warmer emotions toward other people. The new Draco Malfoy, or Jake Mitchell, rather, smiles a lot more and is a lot more considerate of others. He still has his old sense of slightly cruel humor, but he’s managed to keep it toned down a bit and has definitely learned how to hold his tongue. Of course, this doesn’t stop Draco from still thinking cold and insulting thoughts about other people, for although he’s gotten very tolerant of Muggles and such, he still has little patience for the stupid and slow. His tongue is still as sharp as ever and when he allows himself to talk, he will lash out with a hurtful comment. But the years in the sun seems to have thawed the ice prince a little and he finds himself concerning himself on the feelings of others a lot more than he used to. Draco has even allowed himself to become closer to people more than simply allies and minions and actually sees some people as his friends and worthy people to protect and possibly even love. At the same time, Draco doesn’t like to openly admit he is going soft and will deny anything of the sort. He still has distaste for showing weakness, after all, and caring for another, to him, is still a weakness.
As less arrogant as he’s gotten, a Malfoy is still a Malfoy and Draco still seems himself higher than some people. Granted, the ‘some’ is a lot less than before and has more to do with intellectual capacity than blood, but Draco still doesn’t mind undermining people and putting them down, though he makes a note not to do that too much with his students. The man is also still quite conceited and seems himself as very good-looking and handsome. He doesn’t mind flaunting those looks and, in fact, loves getting compliments and such about himself. His ego isn’t as big anymore, though, and Draco no longer gets insulted easier and, with his newfound mellow attitude, finds that he no longer as a desire to physically harm or threaten anyone who dares defy him. Draco has learned to shrug some things off and simply go on with his life. At the same time, Draco still holds extreme grudges and isn’t a quick one to forget. He finds that he also still finds some pleasure in other people’s pain and doesn’t mind causing some discomfort to those that he sees deserves it very much.
The parts of Draco Malfoy that have yet to change, though, are his true Slytherin qualities. None of his cunning and wit as dulled and his intelligence is still rather high, not to mention his ability to find loopholes and such. Draco is still very business-minded and always finds himself, whether it be intentionally or not, looking for easier ways to do things or someway to bend the rules to his liking. Draco has never been one to follow by the rules, after all, and although he doesn’t break rules just to break them, he still finds ways around them or perhaps takes the rule a different way, leaving him more possibilities to get what he wants. Draco is a man who will do whatever he can to get what he wants, after all. He isn’t used to “no” and will do whatever he can to get what he wants and will get it even if it’s the last thing he ever does. He has no problem getting rid of anything and everything in his path to get what he wants either. Draco is still very ruthless and selfish, worrying about himself before anyone else, despite the fact he’s acquired some compassion. He has the uncanny ability too look from point A to point B with no distractions in between and never tangles his emotions with those points. Draco is still as good as ever at acting and hiding emotions and he has to, seeing as he has convinced people for ten years that he is Jake Mitchell, not Draco Malfoy. To him, the Malfoy name is dead. Draco is no more.
History:
Draco Lucien Malfoy was born on June 5th, 1980 to the infamous and feared Malfoy family. His father was the well-known Lucius Malfoy and his mother was from yet another very famous pureblood family, the Blacks. Draco had no siblings and thus one would assume he received much attention from his parents, but in fact, being as busy as they were, Draco received very little attention from his parents during his younger years and instead was raised mostly by the house servants. But the servants never really showed much love toward the young Malfoy, as innocent and naïve as he was. To the servants, he was still a Malfoy, their master, and was to be feared, and thus they feared him instead of loving him, and Draco slowly grew older, knowing very little of love and eventually became very spoiled and conceited. He was used to getting whatever he wanted and most of the time, he did. He didn’t have very many, friends, but he didn’t really care. From a young age, Draco was already a very dominant boy and knew how to take control and manipulate. He knew what he wanted.
[Blah… Too lazy to write the stuff here, so I’m going to move on to Draco’s sixth year. Lol]
Draco’s sixth year started much in the same way as his previous years, except for the fact his father was in Azkaban and he had spent the summer plotting his revenge against Harry Potter. Draco was determined to get back at Potter, no matter what. He spent hours pouring over the old books in the Malfoy library as well as training in his vast backyard to increase both his Quidditch and magical abilities. Lucius had started Draco’s training in the Dark Arts, but with him in Azkaban, it was up to Draco to continue and he did, and religiously as well. Not a day would go by when the young Malfoy hadn’t cursed something around the house or something of the sort. He found the qualities of his spells increasing as time wore on and with all the hatred and angry that was welling up inside of him. Whatever happened, he would make Potter pay. He would. But before the summer really got started, Draco found himself being summoned to the lair of the Dark Lord and although his mother pleaded with him to not go, the boy knew there was no defying the Lord and answered the call. It would have been an understatement to say he wasn’t frightened, for he was terrified, but at the same time honored to be called. Of course, that feeling of honor soon flew away when the Dark Lord branded him with the Dark Mark and gave him his assignment: kill Dumbledore.
Narcissa knew that there was no way Draco could complete his assignment and went to Severus Snape with her sister, Bellatrix Lestrange, to see if he would help her son. Snape agreed and made an Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa and vowed that he would protect and help Draco as much as he could and if Draco failed to complete the task, Snape would do it himself. And it was with his assignment and the mark branded into his arm that Draco Malfoy began his sixth year at Hogwarts.
The school year went by with little activity, except Draco trying to get to Dumbledore with plans that could have been considered childish; killing Dumbledore wasn’t going to be an easy task and Draco certainly was not up for it. But he had to try, or else he would surely die and Draco, being the coward he was, didn’t want to die. He wasn’t going to let himself die, but at the same time, panic took over him. He didn’t know what to do and due to those thoughts, he began becoming bitterer and his hatred toward Harry Potter only increased. He began visiting Moaning Myrtle’s Bathroom to take out his fear and anger and there, to some extent, befriended Myrtle herself. Draco was horrified to find that he was becoming more and more desperate and more and more frightened. He began visiting Myrtle’s Bathroom more often, crying and saying how he would never be able to accomplish the task. He also began using the Room of Requirement, hoping that he would somehow get an idea of how to go about killing Dumbledore. But before he could think up a good enough plan, he was contacted by Voldemort himself who told the young Malfoy that if he did not accomplish the feat soon, he would be killed. This sent Draco into a whole new reign of terror and that day, he went to Myrtle’s Bathroom, only to find Harry spying on him. He attacked, but Harry used a spell that caused him physical wounds and Draco was sent to the Hospital Wing soon after.
But being attacked seemed to ease Draco’s mind a bit as he cleared his thoughts and thought long and hard about what he was to do. He finally came up with a plan and, after relaying it to the Dark Lord, prayed for its success. And, surely enough, his idea of using vanishing cabinets to admit Death Eaters into the castle worked and the forces of the Dark Lord raided Hogwarts. Draco even managed to find the weakened Dumbledore and disarmed him. Though right when he was about to deliver the final blow, he found that he couldn’t. He tried to ignore what Dumbledore was saying, but the words got to him and he kept thinking to himself how much he didn’t want to be a murderer. He didn’t want to be like his father. He had yearned for this moment for so long and now that it was just in his grasp, he found he didn’t want it. But in the end, Snape, just as he had promised, finished the job for him and, in a split second, the great Albus Dumbledore was dead. Soon after, Snape forced Draco to retreat and the two of them ran, with Harry Potter at their heels. Draco never was sure how he’d managed to run through the battle; he’d been in such a shock and hardly remembered anything after Snape killed Dumbledore. It was as if his feet had a mind of their own and he was just along for the ride. But somehow, Draco escaped unscathed into the forest and back to Voldemort’s lair.
It would have been false to say Voldemort was not pleased with Draco to some extent, but it had been Draco who had been meant to kill Dumbledore, not Snape. And so, for the first time, Draco experienced the sheer power and pain of the Cruciatus Curse. But he was saved. He wasn’t killed. But at the same time, he would never be able to go home. He would never be able to go back to school. He would never be able to live a normal life. Was this what he really wanted? Was all of that worth sacrificing just so he could become a Death Eater like his father and aunt? For the rest of the summer, Draco silently contemplated this as Voldemort’s power grew and the Death Eaters began to plan their greatest attack. They hoped to dismantle the entire Ministry of Magic by the end of the year. And so they continued to attack and do small things to keep the Ministry distracted whilst gathering their forces together to march against Hogwarts and then the Ministry.
But first, Harry Potter had to die.
Draco was assigned to be mobilized with the force attacking Hogwarts and that was when the serious doubts began. He wasn’t ready for this. He couldn’t do this. He just couldn’t. But he had to keep acting like he did. He had to continue being a Death Eater or else he would surely die. And so he marched with the Death Eaters as they approached the walls of Hogwarts. This was the end. Many students were killed and many were injured. But Draco didn’t care about them. He didn’t even care about Lord Voldemort or Harry; all he cared about was staying alive. Though as the fighting continued, Draco began seriously thinking about his life and what he’d become. He was becoming his father. His father had forced him into this. He would find his father and kill him. Yes, that was what he’d do. And so, Draco weaved his way through the chaos and finally came face-to-face with Lucius Malfoy. The man laughed upon seeing his son with a look of determination on his face and spat on him, calling him a failure to the Malfoy name and that from the beginning, he knew Draco would never amount to anything. The rage finally getting the better of him, Draco attacked and Lucius was surprisingly overcome by his enraged son. But as Draco Malfoy stood over his father, wand pointed at his head and ready to perform the Killing Curse, he hesitated and eventually bound his father to leave him for the Aurors. But Lucius was not done with his son and in one last attempt to teach the boy a lesson, he lunged out, even with his hands bound, and hit him with the Abrumpratus spell. But although the man had been aiming for Draco’s wand hand, the powerful severing charm hit Draco square in the chest, opening a massive wound. The boy was thrown out of consciousness from the pain and fell to the ground, covered in his own blood. Many saw him fall and believed him dead. But Draco was not dead. He soon managed to get onto his hands and knees and, although it is a still mystery to him how, managed to escape from the Hogwarts castle. Though Draco managed to survive the vicious attack, his wound never really healed. It became a rather large scar and much like the scar on Harry’s forehead, became cursed, causing Draco discomfort and pain as if to remind him who he really was.
After his escape from Hogwarts, Draco fled. He knew his father would be in Azkaban, but Draco did not believe that the prison would be able to hold him forever, so he fled far away and to somewhere he believed no one would ever find him: the Muggle World. Draco managed to conjure himself a high school diploma as well as a new identity (and a new age) and enrolled in a college where he studied archeology, business, as well as a bit of theater. He excelled at all of these subjects and soon found that he was more bent for these subjects than he had originally thought. His contempt for the Muggle kind also diminished and in fact, Draco Malfoy soon began pushing his wizarding life aside and taking up the Muggle way. The name he now went by was Jacob Lee Mitchell and that was whom he lived as. So Draco graduated from college as Jake Mitchell and soon got a job working as an archeologist and was able to travel around the work, assisting in digs in the Americas, Africa, India, Australia… everywhere. And so he lived in that manner, being oblivious to the going ons in the wizarding world and enjoying his life, however difficult it was. But after a few years, Draco found himself looking to his wand, his broom, and all the other magical things he had set aside in a box in the far corner of his attic. They called to him, told him he was still a wizard and a Malfoy and that the wizarding world was where he belong. And as much as Draco tried to ignore the call, he soon gave into it and reintroduced himself to the wizarding world. Of course, he was not Draco Malfoy anymore. He was still Jake Mitchell.
Draco created a whole history for Jake and even began working as him, getting his apparating license he had failed to receive due to the fact he turned seventeen while in the Muggle world and continuing his work as an archeologist, but rather for the magical cause. Draco found himself revisiting sites he had been to before, but this time with a magical point of view and instead of inspecting old artifacts, was more fascinated with the ancient spells and curses that protected the areas. He worked in that manner for a few years before finally wanting to settle down with a more predictable job. That was when his sights fell on Hogwarts once more. It was the same, yet so different than it had been when he had left so many years ago and after much thought, he finally applied for a job there as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Draco knew very well of the rumor that said the post was jinxed, for Hogwarts hadn’t had a constant professor for very many years now, but he was not worried and it also calmed him a little. If things didn’t go the way he wanted them to go at Hogwarts, no one would think it odd that he dropped the position at the end of the year. It seemed like a flawless plan.
