Durmstrang prides itself on having reached the pinnacle of intellectual, philosophical, and active magical training. You have been chosen to recieve the honor of participating in this elite education program, which still retains the same integrity and dedication to the purity of magical craft that its founders intended. Unfortunately, the past year at Durmstrang played host to a few unfortunate circumstances. This is certainly no cause for alarm. Durmstrang still rests under the protective umbrella of peace, cast over the wizarding world thrity five years ago, when a trio of students from Hogwarts defeated the Dark Lord and his Death Eater followers. Durmstrang's alliance with Beauxbatons and Hogwarts, a pact originated by our Headmaster, Artur Karkaroff, remains intact and as strong as ever. Keeping the peaceful state of the world in mind, and the strong support system from other magical schools, Durmstrang is compelled to inform you of a few minor situations that are most assuredly no cause for alarm. The abrupt death of Headnmaster Artur Karkaroff, son of Igor Karkaroff, which occured three days before the end of term, was confirmed recently as being the fault of natural causes. The rumors floating around the school of murder, betrayal, and returned Death Eater activity are absurd. Despite the obvious falsehood of these claims, about one fourth of the Durmstrang students were withdrawn for enrollment this term. The Durmstrang staff would like to remind you that this is most unecessary. Durmstrang remains a completely safe place to be. Headmaster Karkaroff's position will be filled by Ivan Romanov, who has surpassed all requirements for the field. We assure you that you are safe beneath his careful guidance. In addition, the sudden resignation of the Mastery of the Dark Arts Professor has no correlation to the aforementioned events. He simply decided to pursue a new career area. Durmstrang assures you that these events are in no way connected. With all technicalities aside, Durmstrang would like to welcome you to an exciting year of magical education at our fine institution.
