EQII has been out for a week I think, I don't know anyone planning on playing it...

Re: EQ2 released?
I think a few people from EP and maybe a couple from HU are playing, but not many.

Juror and Loral both have characters there. I think a few old school FoTP Members play also.

Noone that I know from DH-EQ though. Most of us are waiting on Tuesday Nov 23rd.

Re: EQ2 released?
Thats odd, the game seem to have very little buzz, considering its a follow up to such a once hugely successful hit. Prehaps the planed release of WOW is overshadowing it?

Re: EQ2 released?
I think part of the problem with EQII is that I haven't read one independent positive review of the game. Naturally all of the pro-WoW sites bash it, and all of the pro-EQII sites sing its praises, but the independent game sites and magazines aren't acting like its the greatest thing since sliced bread. I will admit I'm biased on the subject but I expect magazines like GamePro to be more neutral and they just act like its the same old game with new packaging.

I'm sure the release of both WoW and EQII in the same month has stolen thunder from each other. Blizzard cleverly announced the Open Beta right as EQII took off, I'm sure that had something to do with it.

Lastly, my bias is speaking up again, I think a lot of us in the MMORPG genre know what to expect from SOE and its kind of gotten to the point that you're either with em, or against em.

Re: EQ2 released?
I went to target the other day and only one copy of it sold. Not too many MMO gamers here I suppose.

I agree with Cib. I am biased, and I've basically decided that if I buy the game I'm taking my ass out back to beat the crap out of myself.

Re: EQ2 released?
Well, during EQII's beta there was a NDA for a long time, it was also a very short lived Beta session, only about 4 months compared to WoW's 1yr+. More or less they said "Ok we're starting beta. Ok we're releasing at the first of November." and that was it. THere wasn't enough time for any hype to build as soon as the NDA dropped they announced the release date, and instead of "WOOOS!" you got more "OH NOES THIS GAME ISN"T READY!!"

Having played both games during Beta I was not at all impressed with EQII. The characters looked like Claymation. All the animations for running and what not were goofy. Once again, Soloing was shafted (or was when I played). I also didn't like the class system. And while the combat system was very impressive, do you know how difficult it can be to get 5 random jackasses to time shit just right so you can do skill chains?

Re: EQ2 released?
I actually like EQ2. There is a lot to do and they have made a couple major improvements in gameplay and graphics. It's fun to play and doesn't take as long as EQ1 to get stuff done and progress through quests. (OMG there are actually quests in Everquest!) You can solo but after the teens, it's more profitable to group. There is no holy trinity as multiple classes can fill roles in group (you just need to understand how to work best with other classes.)

Aye, there were still some bugs at launch time but they have caught and fixed most of them now. Lag is much better although you still can get booted during prime time if your connection suxxor.

Only downside is that I have seen is the increasing importance of guilds in the game. You need to be in one at some point. There are a fair no. of Quellious folks on Permafrost and AB. We are in ACoF channel so you can reach us there.

I never played Warcraft before. Friend got it for me for birthday but I don't plan to play it right away. Too busy to start another game at the moment. Maybe after the holidays, I will pop into WoW and say hiya. Do let us know what server you choose, alliance or horde, and if there is a DH there.

Re: EQ2 released?
I'm not trying do do any EQ conversions or anything but I speak for the vast majority, if not unanimously, for DH-WoW. It's an unbelievable amount of fun and you're missing a bona fide Great Thing.
