Endurance Fun and Play?
Quote:
"Actually, I didn't come to use the gym, I came to help Melliah.." He laughed a little, and shrugged. But when he looked down at Dango, he saw the smile that had crossed her face at the mention of her "one-on-one challenge." He sighed, and shrugged. It was very late, and he usually didn't do any sort of training at this hour; but he didn't want to disappoint Dango. So, he returned her smile, and gave yet another shrug, and then a nod of agreement. "But hey, I could always use some excercise. Besides, I can't say no to such a cute smile! What kinda challenge you got in mind?"

"Well, aren't you the shining knight in fluffy ears - "

Dango chuckled softly, after all, she didn't feel the need to be anybody's 'savior'. As Knives asked what kind of challenge she had in mind, her chestnut hues gazed around the gym.

"Now that's a good question. It is getting kind of late but, an endurance challenge still sounds fun. Ok, three laps around the gym then over the gym horse, a short routine of either cartwheels or flips on the mats, then a jump to the rings to finish on the uneven bars. I have a watch, so we will time it, and just for the hell of it I will go first."

Dango unzipped her leather vest and put it off to the side, starting her stretches to loosen up her muscles before she passed her watch over to Knives.

"No cheating either."

With a grin Dango took off into a sprint around the gym. 1 lap - 2 laps - 3 laps. She kept a steady pace, not over doing it as so to tire herself out. Sprinting towards the gym horse she leapt up, doing a perfect split in the air to get up and over the horse. As she landed on the ground she seemed more focus and more detremined as she flipped hands over feet onto the gym mats.

2 flips ended with a cartwheel and a leap in the air to grab onto the rings which proved difficult for Dango. Her upper arm strength wasn't as strong as say, Knives could of been.

"I'm going to be lucky if I can finish one"

She struggled, only succeeded in getting herself half way up before she gave up and made her way to the uneven bars. The rings lengthed her time it might of taken her, and would of slowed her down.

After a quick routine of flips and drops on the uneven bars Dango landed on the ground and made her way over to Knives. She was breathing hard, but the beaming smile on her face proved she was having a good time.

"So, how did I do?"

"Well, aren't you the shining knight in fluffy ears - " Knives shrugged to her, and gave a bit of a laugh. He had always wanted to help people, especially girls. Not only was he raised to learn that girls are to be respected and taken care of, but he also didn't like seeing girls (especially pretty ones) in sad or miserable states. "Yeah, I guess so, huh?"

He looked down at her face, to see her eyes wandering around the gym. In response, his own blue eyes followed her gaze, searching the large room for something; but he didn't know what she was looking at, and so was unable to really follow where she was looking. But he looked around anyways, trying to figure out what she was thinking of.

Finally, she began talking. Knives returned his gaze to her, his ears twitching to focus on her words, as she explained what would happen. Once she began the description of the "challenge," Knives turned to look at the different obstacles, as if imagining what was to be done throughout the test. He nodded at each different obstacle, as he studied it; it seemed he was making a plan, though in actuality, he wasn't - he was just taking in what they would have to do.

"Endurance test, huh? You should know, that's what I'm best at." He returned his gaze to her, giving her a smirk. "Ever since I've been like a dog, I've been fast and had a lot of stamina....so good luck." He shrugged. His eyes lowered as he saw her hand move, and they followed as she handed the watch to him. His own hand reached out to take it, his fingers enclosing around it and lifting it from her hand. In the process, his fingers brushed against hers, and he actually practically held her hand for a moment; but he didn't even seem to notice.

He lifted the watch up, and looked down at its face. It was already set in the "stopwatch" mode, the face showing "0:00:00." With a nod, he lifted his head again, so that he could look at Dango. The smirk still on his face, he gave her a nod, to let her know he was ready. As soon as she took off, his thumb hit the button on the side of the watch, so that the numbers began ticking. Seconds ticked by, turning over to a minute; Knives wasn't watching the clock. Rather, his eyes followed Dango around the room, enjoying watching her body in movement, her hair flowing behind her....she was pretty attractive.

Finally, she came to a stop in front of him. As soon as she did, the button was pushed again, so that the numbers stopped. With another smirk, he held it up, between two fingers and his thumb, with the face towards her so that she could see her time.

"Well done....but not quite fast enough." He gave a slight chuckle. "My turn?"

The time made Dango visably wince, she knew that the rings would be her downfall. Even just looking at them she wondered how she even got as high as she did. There they were, hovering from extended ropes, an impeccable sign of doom.

Coughing nervously she glanced at Knives, tilting her head as she reset the time. What did he say? Fast with high stamina? Dango knew she didn't have a chance. But all was fair in love and war, or mats and rings apparently.

"Next time, I think I will skip out on those little white doughnuts of doom"

Dango had already pressed the button, distracting Knives suddenly by pointing towards the window.

"Look! Its a cat! Sic' em' boy!"

With a laugh she playfully shoved him, showing him the rapidly changing numbers on the stop watch.

"It's my handicap, you better get started"

"This is gonna be complicated..." Knives sighed as he spoke to himself, his blue eyes wandering around the gym, remembering what all it was he needed to do. He began to scratch the back of his head again as he thought, trying to figure out what all it was he had to do. After a few moments, he settled on what he would need to do, and nodded a little to himself. His hands moved down to grasp the bottom hem of his shirt - which was one of his favorite shirts, a white one with "Lynyrd Skynyrd" across the front, and an eagle carrying a sign that said "Free Bird" in its talons. He lifted the shirt up over his head, and tossed it aside, so that it landed upon a nearby weight bench. Now, he stood there in only his black atheletic shorts, and his tennis shoes, the rest of his well-toned body easy to see.

With that, he turned to give Dango a smile. But he noticed that she pushed the button at that moment; he hadn't even had the opportunity to say he was ready before her finger pressed the button, and the soft "beep" of the watch drifted to his ear. He didn't even notice her say something, he just glared and started. As he turned around, Dango got a view of his back - and the mark that was on his lower back, which was usually covered by his clothes. It was a circle, with a series of lines and shapes (imagine FMA's transmutation circle)....if she knew anything about meta-humans, she would know that this was a mark that sealed power in a person.

Without even needing to pace himself, Knives just began running. He sprinted his three laps, his arms swinging in rhythm to his feet; yet he could have gone faster, he knew, if he'd begun running on all fours. But he wanted to give Dango a chance. So, he ran around the large room quickly, his feet carrying him through the laps almost without effort. That was the easy part; it was likely that he was already beating Dango, even with her "handicap." But the other stuff might not play out well...after all, though he had the speed and stamina, he was a bit of a klutz sometimes.

As he rounded his third lap, passing Dango, he turned to give her a smile; as he did so, he was panting, his tongue lolling out, very reminiscent of a dog. But it was only for a second that he did this, as he was soon past her, running straight for the gym horse. Without even slowing down, he simply kicked off from the ground, and leaped over it; he cleared it easily, which was not surprising, given he could have leapt much higher and farther if he needed to. But he hadn't wanted to show off.

"Cartwheels or flips, huh?" He thought to himself. So far, the test had been easy - Knives could have done any of this much better and faster than he had done already, but had chosen not to. Even the flips were easy; he just kicked off with more force this time, sending himself farther into the air. By leaning his weight forward, he was able to send himself into a series of flips, before he came to a landing on the ground, skidding across the hard surface on the other side of the mat, having never actually touched it.

Then, he came to the rings. He leapt up towards them, and reached out with his arms....one set of fingers wrapped around the first ring, grasping it tightly, and holding up his weight. Good thing, because the other slipped, and he hung for a fraction of a second by one hand. Good thing he did have strength, though; he pulled hard with his arm, lifting his body enough that he could grasp the ring again. Now, without the momentum of the jump behind him, Knives had to use extra strength to lift his body upwards, which would cost a bit of time...He pulled hard, and lifted his body up until the

He sighed as he looked upon the uneven bars. This would prove difficult; he had no coordination skills suitable for this sort of thing. But as he came upon them, it was time; he would have to suck it up and try. He leapt up to grab one, and swung up on it enough to send himself towards the next one. Unfortunately, he shot himself at a bad angle, and rather than being able to grab the bar, he hit it with his face and knocked it over, proceeding to fall on top of it on the ground, rather painfully.

Quickly, he got up (having wasted a bit more time in doing so) and ran back to Dango quickly. Even with all of his mishaps, it was likely he still won...but there was a slight chance he'd screwed up. He slowed down as he approached her, still panting hard, tongue hanging out. He gave her a smile, and said, "How....did I do....?" Between breaths.

Dango's focus didn't leave the strange symbol etched on Knives' back until the 3rd lap. Once she got the recording option sent to her bracelet she knew that seeing the mark might eventually lead to Knives downfall.

Dango chose not to think about it. Instead she was now focused on Knives' fast and effective moves.

He blew her away.

But then again - he was a meta human, she was not. It wouldn't of made sense if she actually defeated him. Times like this, it made Dango wish she was born as someone different.

"How....did I do....?"

"Huh?"

She was so focused on her other thoughts that she completly forgot about the whole competition. The timer stopped, and she laughed slightly to show him the time.

03:20

"A handicap and you still did better than me, I'm impressed"

That was when she really looked at him, a slight blush coming to her cheeks as her eyes gazed over his body. He was -

Well, he was hot.

Without much thought she stepped forward to hug him, only she didn't. She stopped short when she realized what she was doing and she settled by giving him a slight pat on the shoulder.

"You did good, dog boy"

Standing on her tiptoes she rocked back and forth on her heels and cupped her hands behind her.

"I guess its getting late, do you think we should call it a night?"

Re: ....
Knives continued panting, completely oblivious to the fact that Dango had studied, or even noticed, the seal on his back. In fact, he'd long forgot about that mark, only reminded when someone asked about it. He just stood there for a moment as he watched her, leaning over, resting his hands on his knees to support himself. He was a little tired from the whole incident; but, knowing he might have been able to do better, Knives wasn't very surprised that he still felt like he could run some more. As she lifted the watch to show it to him, he looked down at it, a smile on his face. Of course he'd won, his speed was even faster than it had been before he'd found out about his abilities.

"A handicap and you still did better than me, I'm impressed" Knives laughed a little. Now that he'd caught his breath, he also regained his posture, standing up straight now. He moved his hand to the back of his head to scratch it, and he gazed down on her, while still trying to control his heartbeat, which thumped in his chest harder than he was used to. "Well, you still did pretty good. Running is just my thing now...I am a dog after all!" He smiled down to her.

That was when he noticed the blush on her face. At the sight of Dango's cheeks reddening, his smile grew a little wider. he couldn't help but smile and enjoy the cute look on her face as she looked at him; he was one who found shy gestures like a blush to be one of the cutest things. So, when she stepped in towards him, he knew she was moving to hug him. When she didn't, though, he frowned a bit; he would have enjoyed a hug. Which was why, as soon as he felt her hand touch his shoulder, he let out a small sigh, and decided to take matters into his own hands. Both of his arms reached out to wrap around Dango's middle, and pull her closer, so that her body was pressed against his. He hugged her tight for a short moment, before loosening his grip to let her leave if she so wished.

"I guess its getting late, do you think we should call it a night?" He shrugged a little. "Late? Nahhh...I'll still be up for a few more hours. Call it a night if you want, but you'll miss out on all of the fun!" He gave her a smirk, as if taunting her in order to get her to come play with him some more.

"Well, you still did pretty good. Running is just my thing now...I am a dog after all!"

Dango chuckled slightly, still kind of glad he turned out to be a dog boy and not a cat boy. Still, if Knives had been a catboy, Dango might of learned not to be so judgemental about them.

She wasn't expecting him to hug her, the feeling rushing over her was more stunned than anything. When he pulled away, she had a funny look on her face while her body remained frigid and unmoving for a brief moment.

"uh - "

She didn't know what to say, even as he pulled away the feel of his arms was still around her waist.

"Late? Nahhh...I'll still be up for a few more hours. Call it a night if you want, but you'll miss out on all of the fun!"

Suddenly Dango was looking around them, as if she felt that they were being watched. The bracelet on Dango's wrist began to vibrate, the lcd screen flashing a vibrant green hue.

"Shit - - "

That only meant one thing - she was being paged.

"I can't. Knives, I'm sorry."

Her voice changed.

She really didn't want to leave.

"But, if you wait here, I can come back in about 10 minutes? Do you mind?"

Knives blinked. After the hug, she seemed scared - he would have expected nervous, and even enjoyed the cuteness of it. But when Dango looked around frantically, Knives tilted his head curiously, His ears twitching and his eyes holding a look of confusion. He couldn't understand what was wrong, why she was so worried all of a sudden. And then, he heard something. His ear twitched, as the sound waves that pulsated from the bracelet's vibration reached him. Another blink. His eyes moved to focus on the bracelet for a moment, then returned to look at Dango in a confused manner.

"What is going on?"

"I can't. Knives, I'm sorry......But, if you wait here, I can come back in about 10 minutes? Do you mind?"

"Uhhm...yeah, go ahead." Knives nodded to her. His hands had come to rest on her hips after the hug, allowing Dango to step back without leaving his grasp. But now, as she turned to run off, he felt her body slip away from him. His blue eyes watched her go, followed her figure until it disappeared on the other side of the gym's double doors. A sigh escaped him when she'd left.

His head turned around on his shoulders, as he searched for a place to sit. What he saw was the weight bench - the same one he'd tossed his t-shirt onto, which was still draped across it. He walked the short distance over to it and took a seat, picking up his shirt and placing it over one of his shoulders. There, he waited, until Dango returned.

10 minutes.

It passed by, but there was no Dango.

15 minutes.

20 minutes.

By the time one hour passed, it was obvious Dango wasn't coming back to the gym.

OOC: now for super short post, just because it's not worth it to make a long one to close this thread off >.>

IC:

Knives sighed. He sat there for a good long while, continuously checking the clock. When ten minutes had passed, he was still seated on the bench, now with his chin in his hand, supported by his elbow on his knee. He remained there even past the fifteen minute mark, for he assumed she had something very pressing to do - maybe it just took extra time?

After a half hour passed, he'd begun to get very restless. He was not laying on the bench, hands behind his head to support as if they were a pillow. Another sigh escaped him, and he glanced at the clock again. Now, he was getting worried. Had he scared her away with the hug? "No...she was gonna hug me anyways. Besides, that doesn't explain the bracelet..."

Was she in trouble? "Nahhh....the bracelet had something to do with it..."

In that case, she must have forgotten him. He waited 15 more minutes, when the clock struck the 45 minute mark....and he left. He picked up his shirt, and returned to his dorm room, where he went to sleep, just as frustrated as the night Dango had left him to be with Isamu.

Now, he was mad at Isamu again.
