Evidently, the chain's more than an accessory ... (open)
This was, by far, now Dimitri's favorite place on the campus. He could work out, meditate, vent on a hapless punching bag, or run through the motions of either lethwei or aikido until they became imprinted in his memory; to be used accordingly without him even having to think. He'd been intent on simply using a punching bag today, but a much cockier two-legged variety had decided to toy with him. You see, as someone who'd been spending years in the martial arts, Dimitri was in remarkable shape. An adult with equal or more experience would still be likely to beat him, due to the difference in size, but odds are he'd be able to at least hold his own for a while. After all he was far from the Hulk, his body was toned not musclebound.

And of course, the general result of training without a shirt was that people tended to target him. After all, have to show off for someone, right? Besides, the blonde-haired, emerald-eyed Dimitri was new here. Not like he'd established himself yet. Plus, he had the appearance of someone from a privelaged household, so he was probably a wuss.....right?

Weeeeeeell .... let's take that up with the unfortunate boy who'd decided to challenge him to a sparring match ....

------------------------------------------------------------

"So am I to understand that the use of powers is indeed allowed?" Dimitri asked, speaking in a cold, almost monotonous voice to his opponent. He was about the same height as Dimitri was, perhaps a little shorter, and in about the same shape. Typical caucasian male, nothing quite remarkable about him at all, other than the fact he was more interested in whether or not a brunette using a few dozen yards away was watching. Which would ultimately be his downfall . . . one must never be distracted from their opponent after all . . .

"Yeah, sure. I'll even let you use that chain if you want, newbie."

"You're too kind..." Dimitri grumbled, "You may attempt to strike first. After all, if you're aiming to impress, you may as well try to show dominance and aggression, no? Or would you prefer I simply drop you now?" By now he was walking back onto the mat after picking up the long steel chain from the bench that his coat and tanktop were resting on, his socks and boots below. He wound the chain around his hand a few times before clenching it tight into a fist, then took up his combat stance to show he was ready. "Your move. I suggest you make it quickly, I think she's leaving ... "

The bait worked, the other boy promptly rushed Dimitri and took a swing at him, apparently under the impression that throwing punches willy-nilly worked like it did in the movies. Reality was a bit different though, with his haphazard attacks, he was leaving himself vulnerable to a counterattack in numerous places, and his disregard for maintaining his own balance was apalling. After ducking and weaving to dodge the first few, Dimitri grew bored with the little game and decided he should probably counterattack and end this quickly; no sense embarrassing him too badly in front of his crush.

After dodging a few more wild swings until the opportunity presented itself, Dimitri finally put up a fight and went on the offensive. The first step was to crouch down and lunge forward, striking the boy in the stomach with his right elbow and knocking the wind out of him. Most people would have promptly tightened the muscles in their stomach the moment it looked as if their opponent was aiming low, but from what Dimitri had already witnessed this kid was clearly not a fighter. More than likely he simply worked out and assumed that meant he'd do well. With the kid temporarily doubled over, Dimitri brought his left fist around and hit the same spot again; knocking him further back while Dimitri rose up again, pivoted, and nearly shattered his jaw with a roundhouse. The coup de grace however, was a bit more brutal than the prior three strikes combined.

Without warning, the steel chain Dimitri was holding in his right hand suddenly darted out towards the other student; coiling around his ankle and pulling tight before jerking back ... on it's own, apparently, and pulling the kid's feet out from under him. While he was still in the air the chain then lifted him up further, then swung up in a high arc over Dimitri and slammed the boy's back down hard on the mat. It didn't stop there either, the chain then made half a rotation to swing him up off the mat and hurl him forward with little apparent effort. It released him from its grasp at the apex of the swing, hurling him bodily into a dumbell rack roughly fifteen feet from where they'd been fighting. He hit hard, and a tremendous noise echoed through the room from both the initial impact and that of the dumbells falling onto the floor as well as the boy below; who now lay limp as a ragdoll . . . not dead, but definitely out cold.

"Do not refer to me as a 'newbie' again . . . and do not enter a fight for the sole purpose of trying to get in someone else's pants . . . " Dimitri said harshly, knowing full well that the boy couldn't hear him. It was simply a warning for any others in the immediate area that might get a similar idea. From the looks of things, they wouldn't; and with that particular distraction out of the way, Dimitri set his chain back down on the bench with the rest of his belongings and returned to the punching bag suspended from the ceiling, practicing his strikes on that until he was finished with his training for the day . . . or rudely interrupted again . . .

X-oshi watched the events unfold before his eyes. And said to himself...

"New kid! Ha ha ha."

X-oshi knew that this was just another kid, new to the school. If he wen around trying to whoop up on people all the time, he would not last long.

...he thinks to himself, Jun, Yakoutio, where are yall...
he wonders.

X-oshi looks at the broken boy by the dumbells.
He kinda looked like the captain of the hockey team.
He looks over at the rest of the team that happened to be in the same gym, and those guys didn't look too happy. But they all seemed hesitant.

X-oshi got down under a bench press bega lifting the 2 45's and the 35's that were on there. He did 10 reps and placed it back down. Rising up and he wipes the sweat off his brow with his towel and begins to watch the chain man again.

"He can't beat up a guy who isn't a fighter like that."

Kobita watched the spar in complete silence, both out of courtesy and interest. He could tell who would win before the match even started. A pity he bet on the wrong person. He was almost sure that musclehead would win. He silently looked down at his arm. He was probably the scrawniest person in the gym right now.

The boy sighed quietly as he contemplated what to do. He saw X-oshi eyeing the competition, but X-oshi had a tendency to break things...or was that him? He could never remember.

He approached quietly, looking both shy and nervous. While he was shy around women, he wasn't anywhere close to like that before a fight. However he was nervous, he hadn't a spar at school in a long time. He was also still slightly wounded from his trip to the school. He hadn't been able to access his full armor mode since his escape and he had only re-established connection with his funnels recently.

"S...sir?" May I have a try? He had raised his hand unsteadily, watching as Dimitri punished the punching bag. "I...saw your last fight and I was wondering if I could try."

X-oshi saw a small glint of light at the corner of his right eye.

"Kobita..."

he said silently to himself.

X-oshi rose to his feet and straighted out his UnderArmour outfight. Pulling on the heat gear shirt, all the sweat popped off his torso as it quickly snapped back to his body.

He then bent down to tighten his K-swiss as they felt abit loose. He looked at Kobita appraoch the guy with the chain in hand. They began conversating and X-oshi went to tie his second shoe.

Dimitri noticed the arrival of another, who evidently was just as smug as the person who'd just been thrown into the weight rack, though he didn't acknowledge his presence with anything more than a glance in his direction. He hadn't come here to fight, he'd come here to train, and he was certain that the student currently lifting weights came for the same reason. He saw no reason not to simply leave him be, god knows he hated being bothered by complete strangers . . .

Quote:
"S...sir? I...saw your last fight and I was wondering if I could try."

"That wasn't a fight, it was a beating. By all means I should have refused to face him, but unfortunately I don't turn down challenges that easily . . . " Dimitri sighed, turning around to see who exactly had addressed him; mildly shocked at the size of the other student. Was he really serious? The shock wore off soon though, once he started to look at the situation logically. For one thing, this place was filled with students with unique abilities. How on earth could he be certain that his challenger didn't have one that could negate the size advantage Dimitri had? For another, if he was properly trained to fight, his smaller size wouldn't matter. Dimitri knew this from experience as one of his own fighting styles (Aikido) tended to all but erase any size advantage. One simply needed to know how to strike, and how to go about doing it, and the playing field would be levelled.

"Well . . . before I accept, you must tell me one thing . . . and answer truthfully, because I'll know if you're lying to me . . . " he said, going to great lengths to emphasize how serious he was about what he had to say. "If you're challenging me just to show off, or for some other petty reason like that other boy, then don't. However, if you're serious, and you're wanting to spar for a good reason such as improvement or simply seeing how well you've progressed in whatever past training you may have had, then I'll gladly accept your challenge . . . I will not fight you until you tell me which it is, however . . . "

Kobita thought quietly for a few moments. It was both as a means to better himself...but also a means to test the new student. In his mind...both reasons were petty. Kobita donned a pondering look...as if some incredibly deep thought was going in to it.

"W...well. I guess its to better myself. Everything you do in life should be to better yourself. I have other motives, but none are to impress someone. You'll have to do with just that."

Confidence started to infiltrate his voice halfway through his answer. He was already sick of acting incompetant. Was a poor and boring choice to make. Past that however, the boy had nothing further to say. He intended to let the man infront of him control the pace until it was imperative that he try to turn the tides. He was certain he could take more than a few hits.

His shoes were tight, his brow had dried with sweat. He was currently filling his body up with cool, nice tasting, and highly refreshing Powerade.

He looks down at his gym bag and grabs his sweat bands. Placing one on his head and one for each wrist. He throws his towel over his right shoulder and grips his Camelback full of powerade over the left.

While making his way over to the two, he wonders to himself the outcome of the conversation between those two.

"Hey Kobita, whats up man... haven't seen ya in like a minute for reals."
He exclaimed.

Well, that was the answer Dimitri wanted to hear….sort of. All he really needed to know was that his soon-to-be opponent was serious about the challenge, and not just trying to show off. So at the very least, this fight would be enjoyable; regardless of the outcome.

“Very well then, I eagerly accept. Before we begin however, I’ll leave it up to you as to what the rules are,” Dimitri responded, “Whether powers are allowed, or if it’s traditional hand-to-hand combat, etcetera . . . and if you don’t mind, I’d prefer you had the first strike. Habit of mine to never actually start a fight unless absolutely necessary, you see.”

It wasn’t so much the arrival of the other student as the atrocious grammar that got his attention. Evidently, he was through lifting weights for the moment being, and saw fit to interrupt what was otherwise a pleasant conversation. More importantly however, he was delaying the sparring match. “Could it wait until after the spar please? I’d rather get it out of the way before I’m too tired to fight . . . ”

Kobita heard X-oshi speak, but he made no motion to even recognize him. He wasn't very important at the moment and was more in the way than anything. Why would he speak to him when it was obvious what they were discussing. Sometimes the man confused even Kobita.

Kobita thought over his question. It wouldn't be much a fight without powers. Kobita was quick...but he was in no way well trained in any form of hand to hand combat. He mostly relied on unrefined movements and eccentric attacks to get him free of close combat and get back to a suitable range

"Powers are fine...its why we're at this school. I see no reason why we shouldn't represent that fact and use our powers."

Kobita didn't drop in to a ready stance or anything, simply because he did not have one. Instead, he slowly raised his arm up, extending the hand out in front of him. His middle finger and thumb were pressed together and pointing in his direction.

"First move?" The boy's finger's snapped and the sound echoed throughout the room. A transparent force, only seen as a ripple in the air flew toward Dimitri.

Kobita watched silently for the result of his sound wave. He gave enough forewarning that he doubted it would hit, but he didn't want a cheap shot.

"True, though sometimes that gets a little ... destructive ... in an indoors environment. So it's always something worth asking before agreeing to the match," Dimitri answered, retreiving his chain before the match began. While it wasn't the only thing he could manipulate with his abilities, it was the most versatile. He was glad he did too, as the Kobi took the offensive soon enough.

He had no idea what on earth his powers entailed, but seeing the air become mis-shapen the way it did was reason enough to not stay in one place to find out. Hell, already it reminded him of that old movie "Predator," where that wierd alien thing had a cloaking ability that had the same effect. He dove out of the way (literally) with all due haste, rolling back onto his feet in a crouched position and bringing the chain to bear. The distance between them was too great to use the chain in the same manner he had before (to grab ahold of him), so instead he went for a more traditional counterattack.

The chain moved from his right arm, over his shoulder and to his left arm (it's wound about, just look at the ref pic and you'll understand) to increase the effective range, then made an overhand swing towards Kobi. In mid-swing, the end of the chain meshed together to make a sphere, essentially giving Dimitri control of one of the longest flails in existance. The strike was aimed for Kobi's shoulder; a good non-fatal place for such a strike, especially since if it was a direct hit it could in fact shatter the bone and render his arm temporarily useless. Still, he wasn't exactly under the impression Kobi would stand idly by and take such a blow . . .

Kobita kept his arm raised upward as the man dove out of the way. Kobita didn't plan to take a cheap shot, but he wasn't gonna give him time to set himself up either. He didn't know this man's power and his best bet was to keep him as far away as possible and on the move.

By the time the man had rolled back up into his crouched position, Kobita was already re-aiming his next shot. As the swing began the boy snapped his fingers once more, sending another sound wave in the direction of his opponent chest.

Kobita had something else he had to worry about. After his shot the boy dropped back with his right leg and crouched down slightly. He swung his left arm around and aimed it at the head of his gigantic flail. He snapped his left fingers and fired another sound wave at the flail. Intending to knock it away.

X-oshi felt a big sweat drop go down his forehead as he watched not once, but twice he was disrespected.
One by a person he knew and another from a kid he had never seen before.

As they chain began swinging around, X-oshi kept to himself as he walked backwards, everytime the chain came around.
He also closed his eyes when he saw and heard something rip past him. He bent down backwards away from the two. They looked like sound waves, he had seen them, in cartoons and what not. As it came closer it grew louder and went away.

He looked back at the two as he saw the chain extend outwards again.

Since he was more concerned with making sure nobody got clocked over the head with the steel ball now at the end of his chain, Dimitri hardly had enough time to do anything about the blast sent at him. On the bright side, he did manage to regain control over the chain, and nobody received a concussion due to Kobi's choice of a counterattack.

Guess I'm gonna find out what this thing does the hard way, after all . . .

Thankfully, it wasn't as painful as he thought, it pretty much just felt like someone running full-tilt into him. Too bad the 'someone' it felt like was probably similar to a linebacker. He was knocked back, and once again took advantage of the momemntum to roll back onto his feet, then went about trying to figure out how on earth he could get close enough so that Kobi couldn't keep the advantage he had. Well . . . he got one idea. Albeit a strange one, but in theory it would work.

The end of the chain changed again, this time to a stake, and soon the purpose of the sudden transformation was made clear. Dimitri swung the chain downward, firmly lodging the sharpened piece of steel into the gym floor. Now, Kobi would have a much greater difficulty launching Dimitri back; especially since as he advanced, the slack in the chain would coil around his other arm. He still had every intent of trying to dodge the blasts whenever possible, but this was simply a safeguard in case he couldn't. As the distance between the two closed, he planned on trying a little bait of his own; he intended to send a kick toward Kobi's left side, and an easy one to catch at that. The rest of the plan would depend on what happened afterward . . .

Kobita was surprised at this turn of events he made himself slower in order to reach Kobita. He wasn't sure whether to praise the ingenuity or laugh at the stupidity. He solved one problem and landed himself into more. Decreasing mobility against a ranged attacker wasn't the wisest choice. He couldn't get pushed back, but he wasn't fast enough to dodge enough.

Kobita saw the kick incoming and knew almost instantly what it was. He saw the man move before and there was no way that could be a real kick, but then again, Kobita didn't intend for him to remain in striking distance for very long.

He quickly rose his left hand to handle the kick, feeling the shin hit his forearm. Kobita was a lot stronger than a boy his size should be, genetic enhancements go a long way.

As the boy felt the force of the kick, he intook a deep breath. As he suddenly yelled, rather loud too, directly at his opponent's chest.

Re: Evidently, the chain's more than an accessory ... (open)
Dimitri was dismayed that Kobi had opted to simply block the kick rather than catch it, but even more so when he found out that the powers the boy had were evidently just as easy to use at close range as long. Which essentially meant this fight was over already, even though both combatants were still standing and relatively unharmed. That didn't last too long though; as the concussive blast hit Dimitri's chest, it pushed him back ... the problem was, thanks to the chain, his arm wasn't going anywhere.

An audible series of 'pops' was heard, and of course the worst-case scenario had come to pass. Dimitri suddenly felt a jolt of pain form his arm; and nearly all control over it was either gone or severely decreased. Evidently, he'd just had his arm torn from its socket, and his shoulder seemed to have had better days as well.

He knew their match was over, but he was determined to make one last attack in an attempt to score at least one hit on his opponent. It would be slightly more difficult because of how Kobi had reacted to the setup, but with the help of the chain he'd be able to pull it off . . . without causing too much more damage to his arm and shoulder. With Kobi electing to block the kick to his midsection, that side of his upper body was exposed. Dimitri took advantage of that, and with the help of the chain lifted his body into the air. He was now completely horizontal, and put a great deal of momentum behind his next attack: rotating his entire body midair to increase the force behind the kick, he spun his right leg around with tremendous speed, sending one hell of a kick for the left side of Kobi's head.

He may not have been too sure at what the result would be, but he was determined to give one last hurrah . . . even if it failed, it was still an impressive display of acrobatics, so at least he'd have that going for him . . .

Kobita cringed as he heard the popping sounds. Maybe he put a tad too much force into it. He just wanted to knock him off his feet, not rip his arm off. Oooh boy was he gonna be in trouble.

Amidst both his cringing at the popping sounds and the location of his arm, he didn't notice the foot ascending up toward his head. It was a textbook bicycle kick, Kobita's head just happened to be the soccer ball. The boy was knocked back a few feet rolling with the momentum.

Kobita's cybernetically enhanced constitution prevented anything from being seriously injured, but he still felt all the pain from it. The boy slowly rose to a sitting position, violently shaking his head to clear the cobwebs.

As his vision unblurred, he focused in on Dimitri's body laying there on the ground, still bound to the chain. Kobita quickly rose to his feet, grabbing the spike and throwing it aside. "X, call Ms. Hanabishi, he's gonna need some help."

The loud blast of sound emitted from the vocal cords of Kobita vocal cords sent the boy to a place he was not expecting to go.

"Game... set... match!!!"
He thought to himself. When all Kobita had to do was just do one simple move to this new kid. Just the fact that his chain was his greatest weapon and the only one thing that cursed him.

X-oshi could clearly see the boys arm dislocate from his shoulder. It was a bit of a gruesome site but none the less it was a outragoesly executed counterattack.

X-oshi turned his back and began walking away from the two boys as soon as he saw the boy get hurt. Then he heard Kobita's voice ring out.

"X, call Ms. Hanabishi, he's gonna need some help."

X-oshi began thinking to himself as he heard the instructions of his metal armed friend.

"I probably wouldn't keep on fighting if I had my arm pop from its place. Though I don't know how hard Kobi would fight. But none the less, it was an easy match."

He began running towards the area of the phone dissappeared and then reappeared next to the phone.

Dailing 911 for the Healing Place a call was put in to have some help come immeadiatly to the gym.

Oh for god's sake, it's just an arm injury, I haven't been shot or anything .... jesus, what the hell did I shake loose inside that head o' yours, kid?

"You only screwed up the arm, I'm still fully capable of walking . . . " Dimitri sighed, using his good arm to get up into a crouched position before standing up. The chain meanwhile, returned to its master and coiled up the length of his arm. With a little more concentration, the the end of the chain returned to being just normal steel links. "Though, you did handicap me for the rest of the match, and so I respectfully withdraw. You made a good fight, and a well earned victory. Though, make no mistake, I will find a way around those little shockwaves of yours in the future . . . "

"In the meantime though, I'd appreciate it if you'd tell me where the nurse's office is. I'd prefer to get this treated as soon as possible so it can begin healing, I don't like to be away from my training for long . . . " he said, wincing every so often as he started to put on his socks, boots, and coat. Not exactly a simple feat when you've only got one arm at your disposal . . .
