Part 15
“Justin we can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep hurting him like this.” Susan said pulling on her blouse.
Justin sighed and reached for his jeans lying on the floor.
“You may think you’re only hurting him but you’re hurting me and yourself as well, Susan. Why can’t you see that?” He demanded emotionally. He couldn’t do this any longer. She constantly came running back to him when things got out of hand at home but no matter what he knew that she would never choose him over Deke.
He was putting his life on hold for something that would never happen.
Susan knew she was hurting everyone involved but she didn’t know how to stop. She loved both Deke and Justin to a great extent but she had no idea how to decide among to two. “I know what I need to do Justin. Please don’t make this harder than it already is.” She pleaded softly in the silent hotel room.
“Why should I make it easy? You can’t just tell me you love me, make love to me and then walk out of my life Susan.” Justin argued.
Susan sighed and opened the front door. “I have to.” She closed the door quietly leaving Justin alone to weep for the woman that he loved and lost.
A young child began to kick his seat jerking him awake. He must have been breathing hard for some time because his window was humid with his condensed breath, almost completely fogged in. He swiped a clear path on the glass with the side of his hand and looked out. The clouds were floating smoothly past the airplane window. Justin checked his watch and closed his eyes for a second time. He had half an hour left before the plane was expected to land in New York and he wanted to be well rested for this confrontation with his family and his son.

Jason and Elizabeth lay together on the couch. Jason didn’t know when it begin but one minute Elizabeth’s talking and the next he’s kissing her. Jason could feel the butterflies in his stomach as Elizabeth’s fingers moved across his chest removing his shirt in the process. Elizabeth’s shirt soon followed. He could feel her breath on him as she nibbled on his earlobe eliciting a groan from him. She tilted her head up to meet his. Jason held her gaze for a moment before brushing his lips softly against hers. Elizabeth’s hands began to roam his chest causing Jason to moan. Her fingers began to play with the hairs just above his jeans. Elizabeth’s fingers reached his belt and unclasped them. She unfastened the snap of his jeans and began to slide the zipper down. Together they removed his last bit of undergarments. Elizabeth was quiet for a moment before a rumble of laughter escaped her. Jason expected a lot of things to escape her lips once she saw the full length of him but laughing wasn’t one of them.
Jason opened his eyes and ran a hand over his face. Elizabeth was sleeping peacefully beside him, her hand placed carefully over his chest. Jason eased himself off of the couch, stretched out his legs and walked upstairs to check on Michael. He was amazed that he slept so long. Sonny was always the late sleeper not him. The door to Michael’s room was open and Jason walked in to find Michael sleeping tranquilly with his favorite bear in his arms. He didn’t want to interrupt him so he gave Michael a kiss on the temple and left the room closing the door silently behind him.
Jason walked back down the stairs to see Elizabeth awake, dressed and talking on her cell phone. “No Em, I’ll be there. Tell Lucas not to worry so much.” Elizabeth hangs up the phone and turns toward Jason. “Phone works now.” She exclaimed to him.
He smiled. “So I see.” He studied her as she reached for her shoes and began to place them on her feet. “Are you leaving?” Jason asked taking a seat alongside her.
“Yeah the restaurant will be inspected today and Emily is about to freak if I don’t get over there.” She stood and glanced and Jason. “Thanks for everything, Jason. I- I’m hoping we could do this again sometime, without all of the interruptions.”
She turned and headed for the door but paused when he called out to her. Elizabeth turned back towards him and was amazed to find him so close to her. Jason backed her into the door and she swallowed hard.
“How are you going to get there?” Jason asked in a whisper that sent shivers down her spine.
This wasn’t good. He couldn’t be this close to her and expect her to have a rational thought. “Huh”
He chuckled and touched her cheek. She trembled, which encouraged him to trail his fingers down her throat. “I said how are you going to get there. Your car broke down remember.”
“I forgot about that.” She wet her lips and his gaze dropped to her mouth.
Jason dipped his head, hesitated for a split second, and then brushed his lips against hers. She tasted sweet against him. Elizabeth lifted her hand to his chest and sent shivers through his body that he didn’t know he possessed. Jason deepened the kiss and Elizabeth’s hand lifted to cup the back of his head. They pulled apart only for a lack of air and Jason took a moment to look at her. Her lips were swollen from his kiss and he realized that his fingers were in her hair. Elizabeth closed her eyes on a sigh as his fingers ran gently through her hair soothingly. She opened her eyes and noticed that Jason was looking at her expectantly as if he were waiting for and answer to something.
“What did you say?” She asked when he continued looked at her.
“I said. Do you want me to give you a ride?” Jason asked with a smile.
Boy did she. “Don’t you have to pick up your brother from the hospital?”
“I did- I mean I do but not for another couple of hours. Besides Max is driving so I could just met him there.” Jason said placing a strand of her hair behind her ear. “So how about that ride.” He asked softly.
“That depends.” Elizabeth smiled with a sparkle in her eye. Two could play this game.
“On”
“Well… What would you say if I said I wanted to drive?” Elizabeth asked running her finger down the length of his rock hard chest.
Jason thought the answer over for a moment. “No.”
Her smile faltered. “What! Why?”
“Well maybe I want to drive.” Jason
Liz pouted. “Fine. You can drive but I’m driving next time.”
“I’ll think about it.” Jason smiled as he opened the door and knocked on the third door across from the elevator.
The door opened to reveal a tall man with short blonde hair similar to Jason’s.
“Hey Jase.” Francis, the tall man and a good friend of Jason’s, said.
“Hey Fran. Need a favor.”
“Name it.” Francis said as Johnny wheeled himself to the door.
“Could you guys watch Michael while I take Elizabeth home.” Jason asked indicating to his door where Elizabeth stood.
“Sure no problem. I need someone in this place that I can baby instead of the other way around.” Johnny said glaring at Francis.
“Yeah we’ll watch him.” Francis agreed. “So where is the little tike.”
“He’s sleeping upstairs. I’ll go and get him.” Jason said heading towards his door.
“Jason wait.” Francis called out halting Jason in his tracks. “We’ll just go over there. You don’t have to move him.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah I can wheel Johnny over there. There’s no problem.”
“Okay everything you need should be in his room and I keep extra baby food in the fridge.”
“We got it covered Jason. Just let us know when you’re ready to leave.”
“Thanks” Jason said before walking back towards Elizabeth. “Can you give me a couple of minutes to shower and change?”
“Sure I can wait.” Elizabeth answered as Jason headed upstairs giving her a good look at his backside. And what a good backside it was. She thought.
Elizabeth sighed and looked around the room. The baby monitor sat atop the coffee table and Elizabeth could hear Michael crying softly in his crib. She waited a moment fairly certain that Jason heard Michael and would check on him. After a few minutes Elizabeth sighed and headed up the stairs confident that Jason was indeed in the shower. She was thankful that out of the four doors upstairs, one was partially open, so she tried that one first. She eased the door open wider and noticed that although Jason was Michael’s uncle, the room was set up as if Michael lived there everyday. The ceiling was cluttered with a color similar to the night’s sky and a rocker along with a changing table with all the fixings. Michael lay in the middle of the room crying softly in his crib. Elizabeth picked him up gently and cradled him in her arms. She closed her eyes as she thought about the son she never had the chance to hold.
“Tony just listen to me for a second.” Elizabeth pleaded.
Anthony stopped his pacing and stared at Elizabeth. “What it is now.”
She hesitated knowing it was a bad time. Anthony had constantly been drinking lately and she was worried how he would react to her news. “There’s um- there’s something that I’ve been meaning to tell you but I didn’t know how.”
“Spit it out Lizzie.” Anthony yelled making her winch and back away from him.
“ I just don’t know how this could be happening. I mean I’m only eighteen and you just turned nineteen. We still have our whole lives ahead of us.” Elizabeth rambled.
Frustrated with her, he grabbed her by her shoulders and shook her. “Stop beating around the bush and tell me what the hell is wrong.”
Reluctantly and with tears in her eyes, Elizabeth spoke so softly to him that he demanded that she repeat it. “I said that I’m pregnant.” She cried at him. “You’re going to be a daddy, Tony.”
She shut the memory away and listened as Michael’s breathing evened and the small fist curled into her hair relaxed. Jason stood in the doorway fully showered and dressed. Elizabeth felt him before she saw him and that made her heart race knowing that this feeling that she so graciously had hidden was resurfacing for this man.
“Is he okay?” Jason asked as he watched Michael lay upon her shoulder content on staying there.
“He’s fine. He was just beginning to get a little fussy so I picked him up.” Elizabeth said placing Michael back in his crib. “You ready?” Elizabeth asked already heading for the door. She couldn’t handle being in that room right now.
“Yeah. I’m ready.”
Parking Garage
“Wow” Elizabeth said noticing all of the vehicles that belonged to the Morgan men. “Do you even have time to drive all of these cars that you need so many?”
“Sonny and I provide each employee with a car of their own. We also own this building so we provide a place to stay for employees who need it.”
“You do all of that?”
“What’s wrong with that?” Jason asked walking towards his bike.
“Nothing. It’s just that no one has done that before around here.” She said, “It’s different.”
They stopped at his bike. “Me or what I do?” He questioned grabbing his helmet and handing her one as well before hoping on the bike and allowing Elizabeth to climb on after him.
Elizabeth put on her helmet before answering. “Both.” Jason started the bike and headed towards her house.
Pentonville Prison
“Why haven’t you sent the messages, Maverick?” Deke questioned.
“Dad I don’t think that we should send them yet.”
“You’re not here to think. You’re here to do as I say.” Deke argued
“I’m sorry.” Maverick said hanging his head.
“I don’t want you sorry. I want you to do what the hell I say when I say it. Now if you can’t do the jobs I appoint to you tell me now and I’ll find someone else.”
The guard approached them and asked Deke to stand signaling that time was up. Deke stood and let the guard handcuff him like he had done so many times before.
Deke looked at his son. “I’ll give you time to think about it but until you figure out what you want to do send your brother to report back to me.”
Maverick nodded and stood to exit the room as Deke watched until the doors shut behind his son.
