First annual gnomeitarod (4/1/04)
(Race from Ak’anon to Halas)
Thursday - April 1st, 2004
9pm EST
Entry fee: 50pp per person
Prizes:
Winning team receives 10k (yup, cold hard platinum)
Second place: what I collected as entry fees
Third place: Something cheap that I have lying around in my bank vault
The Rules:
1) Each team must have at least four members. They can be any level, any class, any race, any gender, any religion, guilded or unguilded, etc. However at least one member of the team must be in ORQ, ACoF, or URoN.
2) Each team must join same raid (there is a max. limit of 12 teams) and you are not allowed to switch or add members once dump has been done.
3) Each team shall appoint a Captain. Team will be identified by Captain’s name (i.e. Juror’s Jello Brigade.) Each Captain must hail an official at each checkpoint along the way (with team standing next to him or her) or team will be disqualified. First checkpoint will be announced in channel (GNOMErace) an hour before race starts. Rest will be announced once raid has begun.
4) You must leave start line and cross the finish line together. Everyone in your team must either be a gnome, halfling, dwarf, wolf, or bear when you reach Halas. I don’t care how.
5) Please be courteous to others in zone, especially the poor kids actually trying to hunt there. You may train zone if you shout a warning but you may not intentionally train another team. If you do so, you will be disqualified.
6) Team may not have more than one bard or person with mount. Teams with a bard will be handicapped (by either racing drunk or having two additional checkpoints.)
7) You may not use songs or spells that port/evac/succor yourself or group, use CotH, use Nexus spires, use PoK books, use gate potions or items.
8 ) Outside interference will be prohibited (no training SGT Slate on pallies or paying halflings to ambush ebil folks) but I will allow limited outside assistance.
You may only buff team(s) at beginning. You may pass out food, water, and potions along the way. You may rez fallen runner(s). You may give directions or assist in recovery of missing persons. You may send out spies. However you can't clear the way or join group temporarily to help them over obstacles or speed them up.
9) If there is a tie, Captains will /random 200 to determine winner.
10) My money, my rules… if you have any questions, please ask BEFORE race. Once race begins, I am not making any changes.
(If you are interested in volunteering as a race official, please let me know.)
