First year lesson
Mary Ashmore watched as her first year class came into the class room. Every year she observed them and sensed their insecurity and fear of the unknown. It was interesting to watch friendships and bonds form throughout the year, as well as their growth as young witches and wizards. One by one they came through the door and sat down in chairs, some recognizing their classmates from other classes or their house and some by themselves that didn’t really know anyone yet.
Mary gave them all a reassuring smile before turning her back to them to let them talk for a little while she arranged the plants on the desk that was in the front of the classroom. She was kind to the students, but she also could take control if needed. So far she hadn’t really been forced to be extremely strict on the kids except for that one food fight.... but that was a different story. She didn’t chose favorites either, although she was sure Ravenclaw wished she was, since she was the Ravenclaw house head. Looking at her watch, she decided to give the first years a few more minutes to get settled and to let any late arrivals have a chance to get in the door.
