(OCC- Oh gosh...I hope your still interested in doing this post. I'm innnnnccrreedddiibbllllyy sorry this took me so long.)
It had been a lonnnnnggggg while since Dion Roderick had a girlfriend. Or even had a crush on a girl, for that. After being in Juvey at an age where a normal teenage boy would be sprouting up hormones everywhere and eyeing every pretty fanny that walked by, he was stuck in a building with other guys. With only but the letters from his girl friends like Sera and Cory, he learned to put his typical male urges aside.
It wasn’t that Dion didn’t involve himself in females at all. He had tons of female buddies, and he rather enjoyed flirting playfully and hanging around them. And returning to Hogwarts had been a wonder for him. There were girls every which a way, and a quite hefty sum of attractive ones – some, who even showed a bit of an interest in Dion himself. But Dion still didn’t really put much interest towards any particulars, and his mind had been focused on getting his school work on the move, building up his keeping skills for Quidditch, and, as a prefect, fixing up any fights going on between younger Gryffindor girls who were throwing punches at each other.
But, Dion was caught up in school now, his fit body made it quicker for him to regain his reputation as an excellent keeper, and lately, there hadn’t been too much in concerns of his prefect duties. His eyes had started to gaze the hallways more for a pretty face he could charm, and he had come across a few. But he hadn’t dove into anything. Why? Because he had fallen for one of his best friends – Sera Tilton.
Sera had been Dion’s pal since their first year, and they had always had a great time together. Bugging each other playfully about every other thing, particularly Dion bugging Sera about her over-achieving tendencies, and talking about whatever needed to be talked about. Dion had complete respect and care for Sera, and had always seemed to treat her like a sister more than anything. But the 17-year-old Gryffindor was seeing her in a new light through these days, and beginning to see how beautiful she was as a person, inside and out. Something he knew already, yes, but in a different way that made him want to get much closer. He stopped wanting to be her brother and start becoming something more…
The only problem was, however, that no matter how good Dion was had detecting the emotions of others – being able to tell whether a person is sad, angry, disappointed, having a great time or not – he wasn’t quite able to tell if a person liked him or not. He pointed his finger at lack of experience. As a result, he hadn’t a clue what Sera thought about him, relationship wise. On Valentine’s Day, they had gone to the ball together, but they had gone as friends, so they had a fun time - as friends. Did Sera think it was anymore?
Dion hoped to Merlin she did. He didn’t want to race into things with her, but he also wanted some sort of acknowledgement that she may be interested. It didn’t like thinking he may be some sort of dork for liking Sera when she didn’t want anymore than to be friends. But that was another thing that had worried Dion. Getting into a more intimate relationship with Sera, if it was even possible, would have its risks. If things didn’t work about between them, would their friendship be ruined? Sera was one of the closest friends Dion had, and he didn’t want to think that something like that would happen. He doubted it would, because he knew he would never just stop being friends with Sera for that, and that she would be just as reasonable. But, you never could quite tell. Love can do wacky things.
After debating these thoughts in his head for quite some time, Dion had come up with a plan. During their latest Hogsmeade weekend, he had bought a bouquet of “mood-changing” flowers – they would change kind according to the mood the person who held them was in (daisies for cute, roses for sexy, sunflowers for enthusiastic, etc). When a person who held them was in an extremely bad mood, the flowers would die. Though, many times, when bad moods were at stake, the flowers would act on their own to cheer up the person. Anyway, Dion had marked the card intact to the bouquet as from Sera’s “secret admirer”. He had chosen to do so very carefully, and had even took the liberty to disguise his handwriting. If Sera had suspected Dion had a crush on her, or liked him back, then he supposed she would be able to tell it was him. If she didn’t feel that way towards him, his name wouldn’t be on the card.
He had sent the bouquet with an annoyed looking owl- not his Fin, as it would have been too much of a give-a-way - just this morning. Dion hadn’t come across Sera for long enough yet that day, so his mind was eager to know if she had received her gift and if she did, what thoughts were running through her head. Dion didn’t want to give away his cover, however, so he hadn’t asked her about anything during brief encounters in the hallway, and he hadn’t gone out of his way to find her, yet. In the meantime, he was curious as to where exactly his dear friend Tucker had went off to now.
After a quick scan of the courtyard, the main halls, and the great hall, Dion headed into the Gryffindor common room, and up the stairs to the 6th Year Gryffindor boys’ dormitories. There and behold, lay Tuck, with his bed curtains open, for a nice change, doing his homework. A Dion-grin appeared on Dion’s face.
“I was starting to wonder if you’d come across some sort of hidden trap in the school!” Dion exclaimed at once, laughing soon after. Tucker had seem rather unlike himself lately, staying alone more and more, and Dion seeing him less and less around the school. He worried him, too, for that matter, as he knew Tucker’s breakup with Cory had been a tough one. His eyebrows rose in sincerity and his grin became more humble. He made his way towards his own bed, located next to Tucker’s, and sat down on the edge so that he was facing him. He began taking off his sweater, with the warmer days raising warmer breezes into the - may I mention – not air-conditioned tower. At the same time, he continued talking to Tuck.
“Doing that brutal assignment on Elixirs that Blackwit gave us?” Dion took off his boots and lifted his feet unto his bed. He moved to the headboard and leaned up against it,
“Mind you, I still need to do it”. His eyes were dazing away for a moment, and in that second he had thought about Sera again. He brought himself back to Tucker and looked at his friend with his curious, yet heartfelt, eyebrows again. He had wanted to know what sort of matters his mate was dealing with.
“So what’s going on with you?” he asked. Tucker could answer that in a general way, if he wanted, or take it as a sign of Dion’s worry for his recent change of behaviour.
