For my Friend
I wrote this for a druidess friend of mine who has decided to hang it up from EQ...it's also in honor of all who have left the world of Norrath for bigger and better things...or because they had no other choice.
And So It Was
The lone rogue bent down to the street 'neath his feet
and plucked from the ground a lone strand of lace
The dust swirled 'round him as he stood for all to see
a lone tear leaving one clean line on his face
The scent from the cloth that held the hair from her brow
brought memories of battles won and lost to his head
Though she was gone from his world here and now
He remembered her beauty and his love for her instead
The rogue knotted the hairtie with tender loving care
and tied it to his dagger of choice for his own peace of mind
This symbol of his friend and love in this world so unfair
the world where they once joined together to unwind
So he walked once again down the streets all alone
pictures of times and friends lost passing before his eyes
He wondered again if this was all written in stone
Steeling himself 'gainst his heart's mournful cries
