Forged Javelin Request
For you blacksmiths out there, I have a request if you have the skill.
Last night in Umbral plains I realized the need for a range pulling item a little better than a dinky throwing hammer. Those mobs run faster than sow, casted a super-snare (honestly, I could barely move), and hit hard and fast....I realized that being able to pull from farther away would be useful.
So I did some research and I think the stackable forged javelins (200+ range) might be a good alternative for me. Here is the link to the recipe at eqtraders -- it trivials at 82. www.eqtraders.com/secrets/smithing_weapons.htm
Also, if someone can make the cultural Antonican javelins in Qeynos, the stats are even better www.eqtraders.com/secrets/recipes_smithing_human.htm -- I'm not sure if these ones can be used by monks but I assume so.
I will fund all costs (materials are a little more than a plat for two javelins) and labor if any of our guild blacksmiths could make 4 or 5 stacks of these for me sometime.
I can make those for sure... as far as the cultural ones... I am non-kos in most of Qeynos, but not all of it, and that forge is in the middle of the city... that's sorta pushing it.
Re: Forged Javelin Request
Ok, I just made a stack of these in Neriak.
They don't sell sheet metal there, but they do sell (unstackable, sigh) small bricks of ore. 2 bricks of ore + water = sheet of metal. Sheet of metal + mold + flask of water = 2 javelins.
As Saibok once said, let us do the math. Assuming no fizzles (I did fizzle once), you will need 20 small blocks of ore per stack. 20x7gp=140gp. Add in the mold costs and water, which are marginal, and figure 15pp a stack for these thingies (the regular ones, not the Qeynos ones... I haven't felt adventurous enough yet). It might be, and probably is, cheaper if you can find a place to buy sheet metal, but with all smithing, it's very hard to find a place that has everything you need right there.
Not being moneygrubbing, just laying out the figures for ya. I'll make as many as you want. Seems a little expensive for things you throw away, but I suppose it beats getting killed on the pull

Awesome Ouze!! I'll pay you 30pp per stack then. If it takes a long time to make and is a pain in the ass, I can pay more. I'll try to get them off you ASAP so you don't have to worry about bank space and all that.
I really appreciate it....205 range....that sounds sweet, cant wait to try them out.
Re: Forged Javelin Request
They only cost 15pp a stack, and that's all I want. I wanted to let you know what they cost in case you bought them on the open market. The whole reason that I started blacksmithing was so I could make things like this (and a set of green plate, sigh), so I am especially tickled I can make something useful.
I am gonna get on Kat and see if I can sneak into Qeynos now...
EDIT: Ok, I snuck into Qeynos with Kat. Qeynos is weird for me... I have ally faction with some of the guards, kos with others, and am of course KOS with all of the trainers, many of which wander the city for whatever reason.
I sneeketh and peekethed, and discovered molds for javelins, and the merchant sold to me. I discovered a wandering young Paladin, whom was dispatched with great haste and a maximum of violence. Lo, I discovered yonder Cultural forge. This was a bit trickier. The forge was in the middle of the open, with a guard standing there (kos) and NPC standing there (kos), but both were green, and wouldn't attack. The problem was, as I stood there mocking the greenies, a wandering guildmaster... wandered by. I saw her coming, conned her (red KOS), hit FD, and verily, she saw me, and over, and smited me with furious veangeance (double 250s). The was all brawn and no brain, for as soon as I bravely advanced towards the rear and FD'ed, she was fooled and wandered back. Strategy was called for.
I donned my ninja gear. I got my pulleys and ropes ready. I had Kat set fire to a nearby shed, and while all the guards were working on that, I had her work the pulleys and lower me to the forge from a handy rafter. I uninvised, and with great haste and dexterity, popped the forge, and inserted a mold, a sheet of metal, and prepared a flask of water.
I got the message: You must be a Human to use this forge!
I sighed, and reinvised.
I beckoned kat hither, and asked her to take us to wc, and as we memmed and ported, I amused myself by clicky-fearing my BE boots on all the nearby NPCs and guards.
Re: Forged Javelin Request
Kat has got some muscles there to pulley you down... In fact, is it humanly possible?...... I am beginning to doubt your story little troll -- i mean BIG troll -- perhaps you are covering up for some shameful death near a forge with only an ore in your hand and a smithy hammer in the other.... perhaps... kat's blood is smeared over the ground from trying to rescue you and she got pelted as well!!
A-ha i'm beginning to put the pieces together!!! Where's rash! we need a rogue to go investigate the crime scene!
