Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Four and After
Pain at the point of sleep, and pain at the point of waking. Her wing, her entire body ached from a rough battle in the city. No, not ached, she felt as if there were daggers in her bloodstream, tearing away at her vitality. She had come to conciousness and she realized she was no longer dashing around in a furniture store, searching for V. The pain became great again and she dropped back into that darkness.
Her eyes fluttered open again after what felt like five minutes. She was laying in the familiar hospital bed of the MHS clinic, a blanket pulled up to her chest. Wonderful, she thought to herself, how would she be able to explain this to Vash? She couldn't even determine for herself why she was in the clinic. The light outside told her it was now afternoon, though the sun would be setting soon.
How long had I been asleep?
The sun setting? Wait a minute! The sun had been setting when they had been in the furniture store...what had happened? Why did everything hurt so much before? What happened to V?
She mused over her thoughts, her memories trying to surface in her mind and peice together the possibilites. The last thing she could honestly remember was the tarp falling on her without warning. She had cut herself out of it with a sword...and then the doors smashed when she was trying to open the door (would she get in trouble for that?) and then...she was here.
Her dreams had been just as perplexing, nothing but flashes. A man in a raincoat and she had battled a small, violent little girl in a cat-mask. Then a blank. Kobita laying on the ground, V shouting something while Akai-blank...her wing slashed by the raincoat man's knife...
She made a soft sigh and Amber tried to glance over to the window, but realized she couldn't. her neck was stiff and unmoving. She tried to move her arm, but it felt stuck in place. Her legs were the same. Panic rose and her breath quickened; she couldn't move at all! The winged girl let out a small sob of both frustration and fear.
V's voice is, as always, controlled and calm; this constancy might be reassuring. It comes from Amber's left side; is paler than usual, husked with sleep or night. The light outside indicates sunset; it was sunset in the furniture store (at least, for two people, who won't probably open their eyes again).
"Don't move too quickly, or you won't be able to."
Rat's knives were poisoned. Amber can't know this; but Aoi Hanabishi did, and could. For three days, almost three nights, V and Amber (the only ones who those blades drew blood from) were paralyzed; immobilized; asleep, and this with the nurse's more than generous skills.
The voice of her friend soothed her cries for the moment, she couldn't turn to look over at her to see her. Was she hurt too or was she visiting her? It was hard to tell, if only she could move! The girl tried to slow her breath down, calm herself down, but she was so frightened that she was not able to move.
"Don't move too quickly, or you won't be able to."
She sniffled a little, wishing she could wipe her tears away with her arm. No chance of that, not right now. After another moment of quiet stares at the ceiling, Amber replied.
Re: Four and After
There's the slightest of pauses.
Then: "Just relax. Try to meditate. Then you should be able to move, at least a little," V replies. She sounds so close, but Amber can't see her; not positioned as she is.
...the room smells nice, at least; like honeysuckle.
Re: Four and After
Meditate; something she had been trained to do for almost two years and suddenly she had not been so mindful of it. Such a reliable friend V, to have her remember what Amber could not in a moment of stress. The girl closed her eyes and she concentrated on her breath. Labeling every breath, every thought that would come and pass through her mind like clouds in the sky. Maybe about ten minutes into the meditation, the girl slowly allowed her body to move, to at least sit up and rest her back against the pillow. There was a definite tinge when she moved, as if her entire body had fallen asleep.
What in the world happened to me...
She could sit up, and turn her neck, but not much else. She took that moment and glanced over at V.
{A memory flashed in her mind: V had been cut by the raincoat man, and she shouted 'STOP!' before...
As if wiped out, the memory ended.}
V's eyelashes scythe downward to touch (in judgement) her cheekbones in acknowledgement. She holds that pose for a moment, regarding her hands from underneath the weight of eyelashes. Shadows, shadows, everywhere...
Her hands are folded over a book, and truly, Amber's friend looks like something from a storybook sometimes. No; not just another visitor. V occupies the bed next to Amber; someone has plaited her golden hair into two long (medieval lady) braids. Sunshine; pool of light. What Amber doesn't see is the bandage wrapped around V's torso; what Amber doesn't see is the cut, now-healed, on her throat.
"You ..." Finally, V looks over at Amber. "You don't remember what happened?"
Re: Four and After
Amber was surprised, both at the question and the fact that V wasn't visiting, but she was in the bed next to hers. At least her friend was still in one peice, Amber thought to herself in relief.
Now for the second part of the puzzle: V's question. Amber's dark eyes were blank, completely (not quite) devoid of any knowledge of the events that had transpired in the furniture store. None of the death, none of the blood, none of the mayhem that had happened to them. Oh how innocense is bliss
"No...why-?" A pause and the girl suddenly gasped.
"Oh no! I hope the manager wasn't upset about the doors! They just shattered when I touched them!"
Re: Four and After
When Amber gasps, V thinks: She does remember?
But the rest of Amber's sentence disillusions her, and she gazes in silence, for a moment or two, at the little nephilim. Amber is almost unrecognizable, today, as the Amber whose eyes were blackened by murderous intent.
"No." Careful response. "I don't think the manager was especially upset by the door..."
This is the truth, of course; Genevieve tries not to lie, and when she does, tries to lie by omission alone; she is a good liar, a good concealer of truth. But by the time the students were transported out of there, the furniture store was destroyed. Furniture in splinters; lamps in pieces. The manager had more things to worry about than just the door.
V falls silent, again. She doesn't know what to say, and indecision causes her gaze to grow opaque. Her fingers tighten on the edge of her book, and she lets her head tilt back, hit the wall quietly.
Chin in the air; head tipped back; throat exposed; glance, sliding to the side, to meet Amber's again. She doesn't know what to say, whether she should say a single thing.
Re: Four and After
Amber tilted her head in a show of confusion to her friend's silence. She truly was different entity than what she had been as a nephilim, her eyes were bright and inqusitive and her voice was gentle as ever. Just two days ago, those same eyes had carried such murderous intent, such malice that it the people who knew her would believe she had been possessed by an dangerous entity. The same gentle face had been so feirce and her words had been sharp enough to cut through skin. She carried out her judgement without remorse, without thinking of others around her...
So what had happened? Had she truly been possessed by some other entity? Ask the her shadow, it would disagree and speak the truth that Amber and the memories of the night locked tight could not. The silence between them was heavy, no idea what to address. Amber had questions that needed answers, but she wasn't sure what they were.
"V...I know something happened. You ran off into that store and then...it's all just blurs and voices."
The girl cast her eyes down to her lap. Her dream flashes had shown her blood, droplets to a stream of crimson. A shining sword, knives cutting-but was that her own injuries or another's. So much time that had been wiped from her mind; the last time that had actually happened was almost two years before. But there was no way that recurrance was possible...unless somehow...
Re: Four and After
Kobita had spent a grand total of thirty minutes in the infirmary after he dropped off V amd Amber, Amber still unconcious and V quickly joining her in that state. Two of those minutes were spent bandaging the various cuts and scrapes he had acquired, the other twenty-eight were spent trying to convince him the V and Amber would be all right. It would have taken a lot longer if they hadn't thrown him out the door.
Kobita walked slowly toward the nurses office as he watched the sun set behind it, his backpack slung over his shoulder and a plastic bag hanging from his hand. He had been informed earlier that day that V had woken up, and he quickly set out to find something to cheer her up, she'd need it after what happened in the city.
What Kobita finally decided upon, based on availability and fianancial reasons, was some take-out Chinesse food. It wasn't the best he'd ever done but it would get him through the day.
The boy slowly and silently pushed through the door to the office. Hey walked slowly and quietly down the hall toward where V and Amber were stationed. "Hey V...I brought you something to eat, probably don't get too great of food here." Kobita's voice was loud, yet soft at the same time, like a loud whisper.
Kobita stopped dead at the doorway as he saw Amber also sitting up. The first thought that crossed through his mind wasn't 'is she gonna get up and kill us' it was 'now what am I gonna do...I only have two dinners here.'
Kobita quickly snapped out of it and set the plastic bag on a nearby table and the bookbag slipped off his shoulder. "You guys ok? I mean...well after what went on at the warehouse and you both passing out on me I was pretty scared." Kobita knelt down inbetween the two beds, one so he could talk to both of them and so he could be inbetween V and Amber incase Amber went crazy again.
V gazes at Amber. Eyes, askance; head, tilted back and canted to the side; hands, still. With her gaze just now lucent, as clear as light, it seems strange that her expression should be so difficult to read, to be so difficult to decipher. Serious does not begin to describe. There should be another word. Finally, a decision is made; Amber can see it, because, out of anyone at the school, Amber is probably the closest to being able to (consistently) read some of V's expressions. Decision made, V says:
"Please--"
However! Before she can say whatever it is she decided to say! Hark! A voice, accented, Germanic: Hey V ... I brought you something to eat, probably don't get too great of food here. V's cuts her sentence off, before it can give anything else away; and Kobita pokes his head in a moment later and stops dead (ill choice of words!) in the door.
V lifts her head; sits up, slightly, and is no longer looking at Amber. "Very thoughtful of you, Kobita," she says, mild - surprise. He continues on; V still hasn't glanced at Amber, again. But that's natural, isn't it? Someone else speaks, they get your attention; at least, the attention the language of your body broadcasts. Of course, V is peeking toward the plastic bag.
He says he was scared, and V's gaze flickers to her hands. "Yes." To, You guys okay?
But she looks over at Amber, again; Amber, who doesn't remember what happened, except for flashes. Visions, say, of a little girl; a smiling cat-mask; darkness; splinters; fury; blood; knives; flesh breaking; and then. She'll remember Rat, won't she, on her sword, the moment her pendulum decided enough was enough, and shocked itself from black to shining white?
Movement (is sudden, but deliberate) to her feet. Genevieve bounces across the stretch of floor between her bed and Amber's -- a hand on Kobita's convenient head for support. Then she hugs Amber, tightly! Careful not to hurt her wings.
Then, just as quickly, she releases the girl -- V isn't one for anything touchy feely -- and there. Now Kobita can tell Amber all about the warehouse, if he wants.
But first, to answer Amber's earlier question: "Bad is just a matter of perspective."
Before V could speak, Kobita had popped in with Chinese food. Amber looked to the young boy, and there was a moment where a look of recognization crossed her face. In the furniture store, her dreams told her, Kobita had been there (since when?) and...it couldn't be that she turned on him. The images came and went like a passing dream and her calm demeanor returned. She smiled at him, wanting to raise her hand up in greeting. Easier said than done.
"Kobichi..." she said as he sat between her bed and V's. He said he had been scared to the furniture store. The winged (bandaged) girl tilted her head. "You were there...too?"
She glanced over at V again, wondering if she would continue what she wanted to say. Instead, she did something that was quite different to V's usual character. The golden haired girl had hugged her, careful with Amber's wing; it was a quick hug but a hug nonetheless. The most surprised, confused expression crossed the half angel's face, how else could she react to this?
"Bad is just a matter of perspective."
Amber looked from V to Kobita, worried and puzzled. Maybe he could provide the right answers for the blurs in her memories...
Re: Four and After
Kobita was watching Amber carefully as he felt a pressure exerted on the top of his head. The boy was pushed out of a crouch postion and onto his knees as V embraced Amber in a hug, a quick one, but a hug nonetheless.
Kobita blinked slowly as he saw the going on. The girl seemed to be utterly confused, like she didn't remember anything that went on at the furniture warehouse. How could she possibly forget that? V almost got killed and she mercilessly killed that little girl...that not something you easily forget.
Kobita sighed a defeated sigh and plopped down on the bed opposite Amber. He knew he needed to seem happy, he needed to do that alot. A grin came to the boy's face as he looked up at the Winged girl infront of him.
"Well its good to see you're feeling better!" The boy said cheerily, hoping the positive energy would rub off on Amber
Re: Four and After
Kobita sits on V's bed; still warm and toasty, the covers rumpled hopelessly, and we've mentioned the smell of honeysuckle once. We'll mention it again; the room smells of honeysuckle and sakura blossoms, and this is why: Bouquets of both are artfully placed by the bedside tables, the honeysuckle, a spill of pale star-white flowers, the sakura blossoms, pink like the dream of clouds, and black the boughs.
The golden-haired girl settles on the edge of Amber's bed; she couldn't move again so soon, anyway. The sudden movement (and Amber will learn this, if she makes any) has made her head swim with unspeaking darkness.
Amber gives Kobita a searching look; V follows Amber's glance, once the swarm of dark disipates, to see what Kobita will say.
He's (relentlessly) cheerful.
V's serious gaze goes back to Amber. "You don't remember anything at all?"
Re: Four and After
Amber smiled back at Kobita, the boy's cheerfulness was infectious. She had been feeling better, just unable to move as much as she wanted to. Every small movement felt numb, a tingling sensation followed by a dull pain.
Amber wrapped her arms around V's shoulders, both a hug and so that she wouldn't fall over. She had swayed just for a moment and the last thing she would ant was her friend to fall. She released her and rested her head back on the pillow, staring up at the ceiling.
"You don't remember anything at all?"
The girl shook her head at first, and then suddenly...
Blink once, twice...
[Memory Flash]
Blade breaking skin, bone, a small girl's blood...
[Flash]
The man in the raincoat dashed at her, but she had no idea who this man was. He held knives in his hand, sharp and glinting. She couldn't move, she couldn't stop-
NO! Don't!
Her hand barely moved up and the sword would peirce skin, slice right through the man's torso. Blood seeped from the wound, and she had been so horrified, she never saw the man's knife slice through the air, right on the wing...
[End Flash]
All the while (maybe a few minutes in silence), the girl's eyes had widened, staring up at the ceiling, staring at this distant yet dream-like memory. Suddenly, tears brimmed her eyes and rolled down her cheek.
Re: Four and After
Kobita looked uneasily at V as Amber asked them if it was her. Normally, Kobita would let V handle speaking to Amber. They were closer than Kobita was and she should handle it. Kobita, however, didn't want V to possibly stress herself.
Kobita sighed as he prepared his words. "We were in a warehouse, We were attacked in the warehouse by two people. We defended ourselves and...they were killed." Kobita paused and looked at the floor. He knew Amber actually dealt the final blow, but he still felt responsible.
Kobita took a deep breath before continuing. "You and V were unconcious when Akai and I got you here. We were scared outta our minds. It wasn't all you though..." Kobita redirected his attention to the floor.
Re: Four and After We were attacked in the warehouse by two people, Kobita says, and we defended ourselves, and Genevieve closes her eyes, paler than usual; almost as white as winter. But perhaps that's because Amber's heavy; perhaps it's because she was stabbed in the side, and the knife barely (luck) missed her lungs, and was, irregardless, coated in poison.
We, he says, but that's not exactly the truth; not as Genevieve knows it to be true. She was attacked; or, rather, the we attacked was her family. [The Vendettas--of sinister rumour.] When Amber hugs the honey-eyed girl, her lashes lift; her regard slides to rest on Amber, when she drops back to the pillows, who is pale, and whose eyes have filled with tears.
Inquisitive. Inquisition. Finally, this. The truth: "You saved my life. I'd be dead, otherwise." The truth.
Re: Four and After"We were in a warehouse, We were attacked in the warehouse by two people. We defended ourselves and...they were killed."
"You were there too Kobichi?"
Glistening tears rolled down her cheeks, even when she tried to blink them away. Color returned to her face as she tried so hard to remember, to collect what little she could remember. The furniture store, that hellish maze with endless rows of expensive looking cabinets, sleek desks and articulate looking chairs.
Yes, Kobita had been there, sometime she could remember that she had spoken his name. When did that happen? And why did she remember hearing Akai calling out to her from the maze. No use, her mind was muddled and completely scrambled.
"You and V were unconcious when Akai and I got you here. We were scared outta our minds. It wasn't all you though..."
She wanted to ask Kobita what else had happened, but she couldn't turn her head for a moment. Amber took a moment to meditate to a calm state and soon she turned her head to look at Kobita. The look on his face...less cheery than when he had spoken to her.
"...Kobita?"
Focused and concerned. What else had happened in there? What would make him act so strange? It was bad enough the few friends she had saw the worst possible side of her (how else could she explain gaps in her memory?), the violent nephilim with the cursed blood, cursed existance. Amber just decided not to ask. The late afternoon was just not a good day for anyone. Not for V, for Kobita, Akai or anyone else that had been involved (Jun and Saku, she heard their voices, right?)
She had spilled blood, and there would be dire consequences...but there had been a reason for the awakening. Her golden-haired friend would remind her of that reason:
"You saved my life. I'd be dead, otherwise."
Her eyes gazed over at V, the tears becoming less frequent. She had wanted to help her friend, one of the few friends she had in the longest time. She wanted to uphold the promise she had made to Michael, the so kind (handsome) uncle who had warned her to stay on campus, not to leave for any reason.
"...I will not let anything happen to her."
Would that be a reason to absolve her from her sins? Amber sat upright on the bed again, looking down at her pendulum wrapped around her hand, gleaming clear. Guilt, she probably should've listened to Michael, or at least told V to stay put on the campus.
"...I'm...I'm still sorry that I didn't get to you quick enough V..."
Re: Four and After
Kobita looked up at Amber as she spoke his name. The boy nodded in response to her question. He didn't know an easy way to explain what happened. They were all trying to protect each other in one way or another...it seemed like someone had to die.
Kobita watched as the two girls exchanged words. The whole negative mood wasn't healthy and they were in a nurses office. It wasn't right.
As Amber finished speaking, Kobita rose to his feet. The boy hurried over to the Chinesse food he brought and lugged it over to them. The boy pulled the table with the Chinesse food and set it infront of them. "You guys gotta be hungry. I think you should eat and worry about this later, when we all have the strength to do so." Kobita smile again, hoping to lighten their spirits, even if only slightly.
"Its chicken chow...something. I don't know what those people are saying half the time. It's pretty good though...or at least the chinesse guy said it was." Kobita plopped back down on the opposite bed of the two girls, keeping up the grin.
Re: Four and After...I'm...I'm still sorry that I didn't get to you quick enough V...
Kobita sits the table of Chinese food (crash! muted) in front of the two teenage girls. V hasn't yet responded to Amber; gaze goes to the table. "Ah?" This must be a habit she is picking up from the girl with seraphic wings (white as snow, red as blood). Variation of eh?. "Oh. I'm not hungry; you two go ahead."
Kobita tries to lighten the mood -- but this has to be said before his attempts are allowed to succeed.
"Huff. Get to me 'quick enough'? You came at the most fortunate time. Earlier, and he would have simply slit my throat or cut out my heart or both. By the time you arrived," and military historians would love Genevieve, because she goes over possibilities in her mind, tries to determine consequences, tries to track the threads of fate, "well. Don't blame yourself for even an instant."
"How did you and Akai and the others get there, anyway?" V says, turning to look at Kobita.
Re: Four and After
Amber's finger rubbed over the smooth crystal pendulum. So clear, so translucent...it would've been hard for one to believe she had been saved from going over the edge, the fine line between humanity and the waking of nephilim. But it did, and in the process she saved a life of a friend...now whether or not it would ease her guilt was another story. Taking a life was serious in the eyes of the holy, would it have been acceptable as she is only half-holy? Too many questions, too litte to say of them. Amber locked those away for now, maybe she would seek Vash's company once she recovered. Amber glanced over at her friend, and she nodded softly, reassuring her that she did not (did) blame herself.
At least she's alive....so maybe Micahel won't be so angry at me...
"You too," Amber said suddenly. "It was not your fault either. No one's..."
Amber's eyes now glanced over at the Chinese food Kobita had brought. V said she wasn't hungry, but Amber felt the need for one kind of food.
"...Rice?" She asked Kobita. The winged girl wondered what he had seen, what he had done in that store (and how badly was it trashed?). That would be later, the thought of rice came first.
