GHOSTS
There are a million and a half great horror books, but there are only a few that have ever frightened me.

These would be "The Shining", "Ghost Story", and "The Amityville Horror".

Why these?

I think it's because I know that no matter what happens in any other supernatural horror novel, it's just a book. And in a real-life horror novel, it's a solid, concrete fact of real life and that can always be dealt with.

But when you're talking about a ghost story . . . you just never know.

There's a difference between a good horror novel, and a scary horror novel. And for me, the only horror novels to ever SCARE me--even if only for a page or two while I'm reading alone in the kitchen in the early morning before the rest of the house wakes up and I go off to work--have been ghost stories.

True, something is always scarier when you know that it is true. You figure that if it is true and it happened to someone else then it could happen to you. That fact alone can be one of the most frightening things in the world. Unless your me.

I wouldn't mind if some psycho came and tried to murder me, or if some evil entity was haunting me. I think that would be great. It would make my life more interesting. Not that it isn't Interesting hehe. Things like that just don't scare me for some reason. I guess I consider myself more psychotic than the psychos and more powerful than the evil things.

Books are my escape from reality. When I am reading a good novel, I get into the story, become apart of it. I am there fighting or struggling along with the characters, their adventures are my adventures. The more unbelievable they are the more exiting they are to me. I just believe that there is no other way that one could experience some things if it wasn't for a well written book and a good imagination to go along with it.
