Guy Gottschalk
You ask me, "Oh god why?"
Because I'm god, that's f*cking why!

Name: Guy Gottschalk

Age: 18

Grade: 10th

Appearance:

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 165

Build: Lean

Hair: Chestnut

Eyes: Brown

Clothing Style: Clean-cut

Detailed:

Eyes the color of melted chocolate gaze out placidly at the world from beneath a sloppily neat hairstyle, a glint of mischief permanently etched into the aforementioned oculars. His face has aesthetically pleasing European features that would appear odd on their own, but that seem to fit together perfectly on his slightly-elongated visage. Despite his European heritage, Guy has earthy skin, suggesting that he spends a great deal of time outdoors (or at the spa). His muscular physique implies the same; he doesn't have enough muscle to be considered a bodybuilder, but he's certainly a well-defined individual.

A large, straight scar cuts along the side of his right pectoral muscle, while another, similar scar crosses a nearly-horizontal path upon his stomach. A few freckles dot his back, chest, and upper arms, and a small, brown mole is visible upon the back of his neck.

A permanent weariness seems etched into his features... indeed, it seems etched into every muscle of his body. This is a boy who has experienced life more fully than many men.

Guy (semi-nude: you've been warned)

Personality:

First and foremost, Guy is a man of purpose; he does nothing 'for the hell of it', and he does nothing on accident. Everything he does is deliberate and intentional. He values honor, respect, and integrity above most other values, although his idea of respect doesn't quite mesh with society's view of the topic. In addition, Guy is exceptionally passionate and vivacious. He lives life as fully as he's able, and would never, ever, EVER pass up the opportunity to experience something new and interesting. This often causes him to make irrational decisions, though; for example, basejumping in the middle of Tokyo is something he'd be completely fine with, but the local authorities might think differently. His desire for adventure, excitement, and emotional stimulation often overrides his rational mind. He always seeks to better himself, and he may do some morally questionable things in order to achieve his goals.

Special Powers: Details on acquisition will be elaborated upon at a later date; just know it has something to do with the explosion listed in his history.

Soul Link: Automatically stretches invisible strings of fate between Guy and any people in his immediate vicinity. Currently, his ‘immediate vicinity’ is a 6m radius, but this will expand as he becomes more experienced. These ‘strings of fate’ contain a great deal of potential energy and may be broken all at once to unleash a variety of different effects. These strings unravel without effect if the being they are attached to move out of Guy’s radius.
-Break!: Guy causes one (or many) of the strings to snap in two, unleashing their energy and allowing one of the following effects to occur. He can control the effect to an extent, but there's always the potential for something bizarre and unintentionally happenning... after all, he hasn't mastered this ability.
(-)Entwine (variation one): The strings connected to Guy's target wraps around the victim's feet, causing the target to be unable to advance or retreat; they are effectively rooted in place for 20 seconds. They can NOT see the cause of their temporary paralysis. This effect has a chance of backfiring and causing Guy himself to become rooted with no effect on the target. The target may still move all parts of his body (besides his feet), use abilities, etc. This can be used on the target's arms as well, but not on both the hands and the feet at the same time. The ability's chance of backfiring increases exponentially based on the target's relative stamina.
(-)Entwine* (variation 2): The energy-charged strings connecting Guy to the individuals within his radius unravel and wrap around his body, amplifying the force of his attacks significantly. This ability is obviously supernatural and cannot be used in public without revealing his true nature. There is no visible sign of his strength increase until he begins throwing punches. The amount of power gained is based directly upon the amount of people around him.
(2) Barely noticable: Hits with 20 more pounds of force; hurts a little more.
(3) Slight amplification: Hits with 45 more pounds of force; leaves darker bruises.
(4) Moderate amplification: Hits with 75 more pounds of force; can cause opponents to stumble backwards.
(5) Significant amplification: Hits with 110 more pounds of force; has the potential to break bones.
(6+) Maximum amplification: Hits with 150 more pounds of force; odd effects (such as sparks, flashes of light, and other obviously unnatural images) may appear, effectively freaking out any 'normal' people in the vicinity.. Can cause unconsciousness if stuck in the head or neck, in addition to causing opponents to be forced in the general direction of his punches against their will.
*While this ability is active, no other break! abilities can be used.
*When this ability backfires, it causes the strings around his body to break, causing incredible pain and often leaving black, smoking streaks upon his flesh.

History:

Guy was adopted into the home of two single, infertile individuals in Stuttgart, Germany. His exact origins are unknown, as his mother wished to keep her identity a secret, but he was born in a German hospital. His adopted father, Gustav, was a supervisor for the nearby Porsche factory, while his mother, Angelica, was a successful lawyer. From an early age he was taught that success depended on hard work, and was raised to be a responsible, business-oriented young man in this upper-middle class household. His family valued integrity, fitness of body and mind, success, and honor above all else; thus, Guy strove for perfection in his childhood and early teens, excelling in both school and sports.

When Guy hit puberty, he immediately began gaining weight. He dropped out of sports, and slowly began losing his elementary friends. He was, by far, the largest boy in his class by the seventh grade, and he was constantly teased by the more popular kids. He became labeled as a ‘loser’, and hung out with people whom shared the scorn of the ‘in’ crowd. Despite the fact that he had an easy time making friends with the so-called losers, he never really felt comfortable with his new friends.

At the age of fifteen, just before starting his freshman year of highschool, Guy mysteriously disappeared. His parents didn’t ever speak about his whereabouts; when asked, they simply responded that he was ‘gone for a while’. Some said his parents had returned him to his birthmother; other thought they’d murdered him. The speculations became more and more outlandish as time progressed, but no one was prepared for the events that would unfold two years after Guy’s disappearance.

At the age of seventeen, Guy returned home a greatly-changed individual. His rolls of fat had been replaced with slabs of muscle, his normally-pasty complexion tanned a dark shade of brown. The change wasn’t only physical, though; his quiet, businesslike personality had all but vanished. In its place was a much more outgoing, vivacious, and fun-loving individual who had become a self-proclaimed master of Jujitsu. Despite the fact that he enrolled as a freshman in highschool at the age of 17, no one made fun of him; in fact, his good looks and vibrant personality made him an idol of the girls and guys alike.

Life progressed normally for the majority of Guy’s freshman year, but the relative tranquility of his high school was broken one day by an explosion. During a relatively bland football game in the school’s stadium, a large ball of flame engulfed the southern half of the school, setting the building ablaze; the entire structure was burned to the ground within a matter of hours. Strangely enough, Guy was pulled out of school just after this incident, despite the fact that a secondary school was opened the day after in which the students could finish up their year… and he was enrolled in some place called ‘Manga High School’ in an entirely different country. With only a year of schooling in English, Guy packed his bags and moved to the land of apple pie, baseball, and jazzercise.

EXAMPLE ROLE-PLAYING POST:

"Hurry, comrade! We're on the news!"

Anxiously, Smith made his way to the worn yellow couch and plopped down amongst the ragtag band currently huddled around the screen, their beings entirely engrossed by the television.

'...sadly, not everyone can be as lucky as little Timmy. Tonight, the Aaronsville bank was bombed from afar by three seperate long-range rockets, presumably fired from a handheld launcher, leaving four people, including one woman, dead, and seven more injured...'

Cut to a picture of a concrete building, still in flames, with three massive holes punched in it's side. Firemen were attempting to put out the flames, but it was all in vain; even to Red's inexperienced eyes, it was obvious that the building was going to be fully scorched within a matter of hours with no hope of salvation.

'...the victims include a prominent member of the Yellow party, Tom Reinstrauss...'

Cheering erupted around the room, only to be hushed a millisecond later.

'...whose condition has remained stable. The other...'

Incredulous shouts fill the room as seven of the eight men erupt with rage, standing to their feet and shaking their fists at the television, cursing the name of the party leader.

Everyone calms themselves once more as Smith, the only man to remain placid, parts his thin lips to speak.

'Consider this mission a success, gentlemen.'

Blank stares greet him from around the room.

'This was not a mission to assassinate Tom Reinstrauss, as you all believed. This was a mission to cast sympathy on him --- the victim of a terrorist attack. Thanks to your help, Tom now has a shot at the dictatorship. You will be paid double for your efforts. Congratulations, ge-'

His words are cut off by a familiar sound. Crimson rains down upon the screen.

Silence.

Re: Guy Gottschalk
Lucky for you I'm in a very good mood right now; the rules clearly state that incomplete profiles are to be deleted on sight. This shows that you did not read the rules thoroughly, which I recommend you do before you begin editing this profile.

Now, his description and personality need to be much more detailed, and written in paragraph form. No lists.

Secondly, his power isn't going to stick. It can do too many different things, allowing him to potentially have hundreds of different powers. The dice rolls and cooldown thing won't go either, because this is more of a writing-focused board; we don't do stats and die rolls.

Also, don't add parts to the character sheet; his nationality should just go in his history.

Ah, I apologize about posting an imcomplete profile; I skimmed through the rules briefly at 12 AM, and didn't happen to notice the last item listed. Working on editing my profile now... there will be some pretty significant changes not only due to your suggestions, but because of the fact that I'm now fully awake! Will post once more when this is fully completed.

First off, like I said, don't add unnecessary parts to the application. If you want theme songs, put them in your sig or something.

Secondly, I assume that for Entwine (variation 2) the same six meter radius applies when fighting. As long as that's the case, the power is acceptable. I'm assuming the added force is in the form of PSI, and I also assume you have a good knowledge of exactly how much damage a certain amount of pressure does, so you don't overplay this power.

Other than that, your application seems pretty solid to me, and may I say that your sample RP post is excellent compared to what we usually get around here.

You're approved to go ahead and RP, but don't use any powers until an admin comes around to approve them; I, alas, do not have that power.

Re: Guy Gottschalk
Theme songs removed, slight cleanup of the 'history' section.

My knowledge of PSI is sufficient for roleplaying; don't expect me to be hurling cars through the air or any other such nonsense.

Joy of joys. My character image no longer works, as the site that hosts it has gone down for an unknown length of time. Searching for a replacement now --- there may be some slight alterations to Guy's appearance.

Re: Guy Gottschalk
I believe you should cut down the radius that he could be from someone; 6m is about 18 feet (rough estimation).

I am not sure if you are returning. But to insure that everyone knows that We don't give up on you guys I'll still reply.

If no reply has been received I will delete this at the end of February.

As Dev Said. The 6 meters is quite a bit for what your power can do.perhaps cut it in half. 3 meters seems more reasonable to me for what your power is capable of as a beginning power/ability.

This is where I put more of my random thoughts. :)

Has everyone heard, there have been attacks in the forest. More and more students are showing up in Mrs Hanabishi's ward by the day. What's going on. It's the talk of the school.
