How do you handle stress?
Here lately it seems that every thing that I normally turn to, to take my mind off of things has a form of stress with it.
Friends, women (normally the reason of the stress hehe), work, money, bills everything is starting to pile up.
Since Im having to rely on myself to take my mind off of things (and no just THAT wont work, get your mind outta the gutter), I turn to the safehouse to find out what everyone else does. Video games, movies, working out, punting small woodland creatures, beating up little old ladies.. what do ya do?
Not really looking for an "answer" per se, just rambling, posting to take my mind off of stuff heh. So what are your trade secrets to relax and let loose when you want to strangle someone who just says "hi" because of your constant bad mood?
jk...I have hobbies....lots and lots of hobbies. drawing, sculpting, playing bass. I ride my motorcycle. I joined a fraternity about 6months ago...which both adds to and takes away from stress.
The fastest way to relieve stess, is to get on battle.net, and create a hero arena (wc3)where your the only one with a hacked hero...and watch everyone get mad
after a game or two of hearing people whine and cuss you out...I feel right as rain.
Re: How do you handle stress?
Ask 3 questions:
1. What are you stressing about?
(For each thing you are stressing about)
2. Can I effect it?
3. Can I do anything to plan for the parts I cannot effect?
Then, if you answered yes to #2:
4. What can I do to effect it to the outcome I want? (Then do what you came up with.)
If you answered yes to #3.
5. What can I do to prepare for the things I cannot effect? (Then of course do them.)
Now go watch a movie or play video games or such. You've done everything you can and any worry you have is unfounded.
Also, you can make yourself feel a LOT better by doing some things for your body:
1: Get up early (don't sleep in as long as possible)
2: Go to bed early. (Doesn't have to be 9pm, but 10-11 or something reasonable)
3: Eat filling, healthie (ie, not snickers) meals regularly
4: Go to the bathroom (This mostly applied to tests and studying.)
5: Exercise
Just my suggestions.

For the most part I don't. I recommend not emulating me in that regard. Sometimes killing lots of people and things in games will help, or going out to a movie or dinner. Or if it's really stressful and can't be avoided a mild sedative can really make all the difference. Mostly though I do not handle time related stress well, nor being forced to deal with highly stressed people and/or upset people for any considerable length of time.

Exercise. It really helps relieve stress for me. I usually pick up a basketball and play with some friends. When you're playing, it makes you think about the game as opposed to the stressor. The deep breathing makes you feel good, too.

Desert Combat mod in Battlefield 1942 for me. I crank up Robert Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries on the stereo, hop into the Apache with the Iraqis having 10 times as many men as me, and lay waste to them in El Alamein.

Exercise or listen to music. Sometimes both.
I might put on something chilled, lay on my bed and just drift off for an hour or two. Or I might put on something loud and fast and work out for a while. Sometimes I take the mattress off my bed and prop it against a wall (I can't afford a proper punch bag atm) and beat the @#%$ out of it for a while.

I talk to my friends, unless of course they are the cause of my stress in the first place ^.^
Other than that, FPS games do it for me, or playing someone who is really good at a 2D fighter.

3D Modelling - it feels good to create something and have total control over how it turns out.
Also, I enjoy just hitting a tennis ball (can't find my streetball) against the fence with my hockey stick and shooting hoops whenever I'm bored/stressed.
Lastly, smoking/drinking a little bit and playing an Project Gotham Racing 2, Vice City, or an FPS.
