I miss the art of GAK
Don't y'all miss those small press print zines that seemed to emerge from anywhere and everywhere? Back then, GAK's work appeared in just about everything. I guess he's gone on to bigger and better things...having one's work published in dozens of small press magazines, despite the modest pay, makes one a "known" artist. GAK's work has always reminded me of the "Spy" cartoons featured in "Mad Magazine." That sharp, cool, mysterious style is fascinating.
Hey Cathy...
Thanks so much. I miss those days meself. But I still offer up my work to those small press zines out of a sense of thanks for getting me started. Alas, I dont have the time to track them down, stuff envelopes and stand in post office lines like I used to. However when they track me down, I gladly send a package of gakart for their use.
And by the way, were'nt we supposed to work on a piece together? I always thought our styles would mesh perfectly!
Here's to good times
When I was doing _Symphonie's Gift_ in the early 90's, it was always exciting to get a package from GAK.
He and a handful of writers always made me wish I knew how to bring them more of an audience. Anyway, it was a privilege to try. I'm really glad to see this site and how well the art is going. Happy New Year.
