Hi All, I know there have been many posts on insurance. After searching around and reading the fine print, I have swapped insurance companies to what I believe to be the best value for money for me. Details: Me: 26 years old Wife: 24 years old Rating: 1 - 60% no claim bonus 1 at fault claim in the last 5 years ( wife crashed other car) 1 speeding ticket in the last 5 years ( wife driving my car but I took it as at the time she was on her P's) Location: Brisbane Bayside ( Alexandra Hills) Car: 90 model SSR Limited Market value $16500 ( hahah paid a lot less than that) I rang and searched on the net many insurance companies. Including Shannons, Unique, Just Car Insurance and the big players. On short notice I insured mine with Suncorp as they would cover the car for an ok rate of $870 per year but they would not cover anyone under 25 ( so my wife could not drive the car) and the excess was $1000 even though I am a rating one driver and 26 years old. Shannons would not consider it as it was not a classic car ( go figure because I thought people had their surfs insured by shannons) maybe I just got a dodgey operator on the day. RACQ - No AAMI - NO NRMA- Would never even call due to them ripping me off on a claim in the past with Damage their repairer caused Suncorp - Information above Just Car - $1000 premium - $1500 excess ( got to be kidding) So after much reading and comparing I have ended up going with Australian 4WD insurance who are underwritten by CGU - Even though CGU will not cover a surf *Shrug* Premium - $620 Excess - $350 Pay by the month blah blah blah p.s you do need an alarm or imobilliser installed so I am getting a mongoose alarm next week installed by Autobarn - $350 installed Also I have in writing from them that they will cover you ANYWHERE in Australia. Gazetted or non gazetted roads... 4x4 parks ok. The only time you are not covered is if you are in a competition. I also clarified that with them as some of the runs at the 4x4 parks are competition runs. They said not you have to be a registered entrant in an event before you are not covered. I have just sent off my paperwork and they are now my new insurance company. Sorry about the long winded post but I thought someone might find this information useful. Jason
