Is this thing on?
Cool to see a board here for all things freaky!
It took me awhile to set up an account on ezboard.com then do a search for DarkVesper and then find the "New Topic" button on the top of the page...but I guess I finally figured it out!
Now what can I say to fill the void and start a conversation...hmmm... How about "Isn't Randy doing a bang up job with DVP?" I'm excited to see what happens with NIGHT HAS TEETH.
I've got a little story up at a The Murder Hole -- a contest entry in their "Strange Murders" competition that took only second place (insert finger snap here...and I mean someone else's fingers!) ... I usually abhor writing contests, because I think they're bad for writers. But this one was just too good to pass up and the zine has the best intentions (and all sorts of good scary stories).
Anyway: The challenge was to write a flash fiction story (500 words or less) that featured an unorthodox object or strange method for committing murder. To see what I came up with, visit: themurderhole.com and click on the contest link at the bottom of the page.

God, Mike, you could have written another poetry collection in the time it took to write that intro!
But in all seriousness (snicker snicker drool), do check out Mike's online offerings. His Murder Hole tale is short and twisted -- definitely worth the five minutes. He's got another tale up at www.horrorfind.com/fiction called "Mortichinery". You'll never look at funeral homes the same way again.
Now I feel like press agent. Damn it, Mike! (teethgrind fistpound earsteam)

"teethgrind fistpound earsteam"...I love this expression. Sounds like an album title... ahem, I mean CD title... for some grunge band from hell.
I think that's going to be the title of Kurt's next short story collection. Either that or the title of his non-fiction book about writing.

I love this wordplay!
In other news....
I'm happy to report that my "best hits of the 1990's" short story collection, FLUID MOSAIC, has just been released in e-book form by Fictionwise. I'm excited. (Easily so).
Hey Mike
Hey Mike...didn't know you had a bulletin board here. How's it hanging? Since I made the cut in THE NIGHT HAS TEETH, I thought I'd drop by and check out the board Randy set up. Then I found you...
Sounds like a song, don't it?

buy a vowel?
Welcome, Mikey H.! I look forward to reading "Quincunx" ... which is very fun to say aloud and will make me millions of enemies next time I play Scrabble. I read on the other DVP board that it's about bizarre eels, right? Looking forward to watching it squirm in THE NIGHT HAS TEETH antho.
Boing!
Yessir, strange and boingy eels. You know, back when I dived I don't believe I ever saw an eel. And that's a good thing. Saw one shark, and it was far enough away to be shadowy. Saw lots of barracuda - a six foot long one came up about four feet from my face. There I was, trying to learn how to swim backwards in a standing position away from the critter, when the dive instructor came up and fed it a fish. Seems all the divers in Pennecamp (sp?) State Park (and under the ocean state park off the southern tip of Florida) trained the cuda by feeding them. These one's are friendly and some even let you pet them.
The key word is *you.* Not me. I'd never pet anything with that many teeth. I feel the same way about eels.
Damn
Hey Mike, I came online to order a copy of Grave Marking and look what I find. You have quite a web presence. I love your site and sent a msg to my friends about your Refrigerator of the Damned. Very cool. Well, I must get back to feverously writing until my brain turns to mush and the words start appearing on the page through no imput on my own. Strangely, I seem to actually write better in that state.

Hey A! Good hearing from you. I was glad you posted here and shared the link to your website, too -- which not only has some cool writing but is also QUITE a werewolf resource!!! Well done.
Geez Mike
Is there anything you don't do, Mike? I'm so impressed with you <<snicker>>.
Seriously, where do you find the time?

How do I do it? Secret rites involving fetal kitten skulls and blood spatter mojo.
Thanks for waving hello, "Redeemer"! Seriously, I don't think I'm so prolific -- I do have a lot of small projects in the fire at once, but not so many longer projects, like novels. So that latter suffers.
FREAKCIDENTS should be out soon, hopefully. In the mean time, here are some new works online for your free reading pleasure:

Doing it wrong
Fetal kitten skulls? Daggum! That's what I've been doing wrong. I was using chipmunks and psychic readings of the blood splatter patterns on the wall.
I thought I read in the little bios at the SHU library that you are working on a new novel. Is that true or did you just say that to keep all us fans in nail-biting suspense?

Any tiny fragile skull will do. Just gotta thwack the thing right....
There's always something coming down the pike, Redeemer... if there's a novel deal, you'll hear about it first at gorelets.com, so keep your eyes on the site. The next item you'll want to see is a novella chapbook from the good folks at Dark Animus. To be announced whenever I finish the thing (I'm way behind).
Just turned in the revised manuscript of my new poetry collection SPORTUARY. This is going to be a riot. Most of the poems are originals; Marcia Borell did some kick ass art for it. It'll be out AUGUST 15th in ebook form. You can find a preview page here:
