It is getting increasingly difficult to get out of bed
I'm not sure why this is and if anyone can help, but every morning now it seems to get more and more difficult to get out of bed. I've been skipping classes, coming in late for work, just to lay in bed staring at the ceiling. When I do finally make it out and into the shower, its not like I want to just go back to bed all day, I'm good to go once I make it out of that death trap. I'm getting enough sleep, anywhere from 7.5 to 9 hours per night, I really can't explain it. Bloody mind games

Weak rant, not even a @#%$ or a @#%$ in that :p 2/10.

However, maybe your life at the moment is boring you? Try something different every day. A different coffee type, watch something new on TV, i don't know. This sorta thing happened to me a while ago (but i later found out from my Dr. that it was for a completly different reason, but thats a rant for another time when i get that @#%$ sorted out :evil ). I can sleep for 18hours like this sometimes, wake up - fall asleep - wake up -fall asleep, it's a bad cycle.

Anyone back on track heh, try something new to spice it up a bit ;) .

Sounds like you suffer from a lack of motivation. Set some unique (and challanging) goals for both class and work, I think it'll help motivate you to get to things on time.

Buy a handle of vodka, and keep it by your bed. Take a shot for every 5 minutes you are awake in bed without getting up. That way, you either will get bored in bed, or go to the bathroom to hurl, then on the way you can take a shower.

Sleep less. Seriously. Or get more sex, it can help. It always does.

Do you feel bad when you get up, but better when you spend some time out of the house? If so, buy a carbon monixide detector(s) for your place. This is deadly if it's what the problem is.

Don't get less sleep. hours 7:30-9 hours is just the right amount. Try having a few glasses of water before bed. That'll get you out of it.

Get a cat like mine who wakes you up by licking your arm when your alarm clock goes off. :)

Might be a little bit of seasonal depression too, it's only just getting into spring, so there's still not a whole heckofalotta sunlight hours yet. Try putting in some full-spectrum lightbulbs in your lamps to provide a little bit of 'sunlight' in the evening hours before you go to bed.

Aye, sounds like depression. It could be something as mild as disenchantment with life in general. Get your woman some leather and chains and tell her you've been a bad boy or something.

Get some more exercise. Having a good workout will increase your energy 10 fold the next day.

Amen. The 2 month old isn't helping either.

Do you get frequent headaches or nausea there?

We have a carbon monoxide detector in the house, it isn't that. I'm going to try that glass of water idea Gyorg, that sounds ingenious :) I think it may be a motivation/depression thing, but I'm not sure what I can do about it. I'm not about to try and make more changes (I'm in a "I've come too far to give up now" sort of state of mind) but I feel like I'm burning out.

Exercise sounds like a great idea also, I've tried starting up routines in the past though and just end up lacking the motivation. Any ideas?

Re: .
Just set a routine and stick to it. If you do it every day no matter what (keep in that mindset) it will be good.

At the very least do some pushups and situps (try to squeeze the most power out of your muscles until you drop to the floor) every day. I do and recommend martial arts, which is pretty good exercise. So if I need something to do I can just go through some material, which is a great pick-me-up.

Also, I've been trying to do the 49 I Chin Ching postures, created by Ta Mo/Bodhidarma/Daruma at 7 or 14 a day. They're pretty intense, but a good workout (can't find any good pages on them at the minute).

The key is setting a routine (write it down if you need to, put up sticky notes, whatever) and stick to it. It doesn't matter what it is so much as it gets you moving and works your body. Push yourself (but never go in to pain)

Re: .
Its wierd how difficult it can be to self-assess what should be a completely obvious situation.

During the week, I have a REALLY hard time getting out of bed, no matter how much sleep I get.

During the weekend, espcecially if I have something interesting to do, I'm awake and alert and ready to go at 5am.

Now, that may seem obvious - I mean - who WANTS to go to work, anyway? The thing is, during the week, I am NOT lying in bed conciously struggling to go to work - my brain is far more subtle. I am dog tired and can't drag my ass out of bed. I do not FEEL like the problem is that I don't like being at my job, but when I look objectively at the whole picture, the pattern is pretty clear.

Hating work, feel tired in the morning, REALLY hard to get up. Not hating work on that particular day, easier to get up. Weekend with a fun activity planned, wide awake no problem.

You are not excited about your life, is the thing. If you can arrange things so that getting out of bed is linked to something you really like to do, it will help. Easier said than done for most folks with regular work-a-day routines.

Thank G.od this is the SH rant hall where no annoying prick-types who would follow this post with a sunny "just find something in your job that you enjoy" re-joinder hang out.

The above assumes I can't be said to be personally attacking a poster who has not ACTUALLY posted yet. :hat
