It's good for your bones...(Open)
Lunchtime in the cafeteria was an exciting thing for Ebony now. Before she had gotten her, she her lunches were always eaten alone. She wasn't always the most presentable child when she lived with her father, but now, she had time to make herself look pretty in her own way and not at her father's demand. She felt better about herself and while most of her happiness was fake, this was real. Here, sitting at this lunch table, Ebony felt like a new person. She was wearing her own style, a frilly black dress and black sandals that wrapped in crosses up her legs.

She loved it and she liked being here. She was free to be herself and not a toy like she was before. And so, even though she was eating alone at the table, she was happy. Friends would come eventually, but she was grateful just to be able to have the chance to make them. Smiling a real smile, Ebony took a sip of her milk. it was her whole lunch, a carton of milk. Her father never really fed her much and so she never developed an appetite.

"Arghhhhh....stupid squirrels...he was supposed to meet there were was he?" Philander mumbled down the hall to the lunch room.

He had just got up with a bunch of squirrels waiting to pounce on him. He wasn't on the best terms with the small fur balls. In fact he thought them, mostly their leader his worst enemy. He had to run he was defense less and managed to rid them at the lake. Where had preceded to take a shower and get dressed. He had waited for a friend for well over an hour later in the mean time playing go a board game popular here that he found interesting. Mostly capture but seeing as he wouldn't come he headed over to get some food.
He was sporting a white long shirt with a brown t-shirt over it. Torn blue polo jeans were draped on his legs as a pair of grey and red vans completed the outfit. His yellow bangs hung down covering his blue eyes as the rest his sleek black hair lay in a neat yet controlled mess fell lazily past his ears.
He took a tray and started loading his usual lunch a sandwich, a bottle of water, an apple, an orange, and a blueberry muffin. He immediately turned to his table were his friends sat but, instantly caught a glance at a girl all by herself. She didn't seem sad about it at all in fact she seemed lively he smiled and turned his direction to her table. Eventually taking a seat at her table directly across from her. He took a flavor packet and poured it into his water closed the cap and shook it. Putting it down he smiled.
"May I sit here?" his continued without a pause for her answer "Your seem new here...make any friends yet...if not I’ll be your first!" he said enthusiastically without thinking of her answer. He was nice like that.

Datu was in the line, waiting for his food. After a few minutes, he was finally at the front. After getting his food, he looked for where to sit. Hmm...who to sit with?? he thought. At that moment, he caught sight of Philander.

As he looked closer, he saw him socializing with a girl. He smiled. Maybe I'll get some fun outta this.... he thought. He walked towards Philander, and sat next to him.

"Hey, Phil, nice style talking with the ladies!"

Alastair sprinted down the hallway and just missed hitting a small group of freshmen as he turned around a corner. He was held up by his friend Datu and he was late for lunch. He saw the cafeteria door and heard the laughter of other students. He was going so fast that when he tried to stop to turn in and get a bite he slid past the door and fell on his side. When he got up rubbing his shoulder he walked through the door and got the usual: Ham and cheese sandwich, milk, and jello. He looked for Datu but couldn't find him, so he looked for an empty table. He saw a table with only two people sitting down so he walked towards it. When he got there he asked them,"Hey there, are these seats available?"

Ebony blinked as she was suddenly surrounded by boys. She never expected people to be so social with her so quickly. When she was at other schools, people tended to avoid her. But now, with her own little style, it seemed as those she was attracting people instead. And while it was a new experience for her, she was going to handle it with a more forward approach. Being shy would only scare them away after all.

"Umm...yes you can, I am, no I haven't and sure!" She said to the first boy, answering all his questions at once and in the same quick manner that he had asked her in.

And then, she blinked, looking at the other two.

"My name is....Ebony, you all are?" She asked, knowing that introductions should have been the first words that were exchanged.

After greeting Philander, Datu looked at the girl. He then extended his hand to shake hands with her.

"Name's Datu. And this is my friend Alastair. Nice to meet you!"

After shaking hands with her, he took a bite out of his sandwich. He looked around, then back at the girl.

"So, you new around here?"

"Yeah, I'm new too and nice to meet you. When did you get to this school?" Alastair asked. "maybe this is my chance to make a few new friends." Alastair thought." Well I don't want to blow this chance so I gotta' just act natural and keep my cool."

"Hey, Datu whats up? Hello, and great!" he said happily.

He was grinning from ear to ear, and talking non-stop. He was doing this so much that he almost forgot to eat his food...almost. All of these people were from his year which was very good, the girl seemed to be bewildered about this stuff and he just smiled at it.

"Awsome, that makes all of us first years, us freshman have to stick together you know." he said jokingly.

Ebony smiled at them both as they were introduced. "Hello Datu and Alastair, it's nice to meet you both." She then just nodded her head in response to their question about being new. She then turned to the first boy as she drank a bit of milk from the carton. They could see the long black gloves she was wearing as she did it. "First years?" She asked, tilting her head to the side a bit. "First year of what?" She asked. She still didn't understand the school system and just about everything was new to her.

Datu looked at her for a moment, bewildered that she didn't know what that meant. He drank a little bit of his milk, then put it down. He then took his sandwich, and bit out of it. Then, deciding to be respectful, he replied.

"Freshman. You know, first year of high school?"

Alastairs red eyes widened up." Yeah, new at Manga, first years. It's alright I didn't know a lot of these yankee terms either when I showed up." Alasstair then said in a strong Scottish accent," Lass, yil' learn soon enough." Alastair than started to laugh.
