June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
It's only Practice (03/10) ISO:Jua
Sitting a dark corner of the Slytherin Common Room, hunched over a book, was a small boy with spiked blonde hair. It was a normal day, except for the fact that the corner was damp. But that was slowly becoming a norm. It had been raining for days, weeks it seemed, and Felix thought that it was never going to stop. It had rained so hard the previos day that he was not able to send a letter to his sister. Sometimes he missed Muggle life. Through rain, sleet, and hail, the mail always got through. But alas, Felix was studyingto become a wizard, and Margo will always be Muggle. Felix was looking for a spell that would make the paper water proof, but he was distracted my the vast array of spells he had not attempted. The book he had gotten from the Library was chocked full of spells for all years. There was an entire section on fire spells, which greatly attracted Felix. The only one he had come across even remotely in his year range was Incendio, a year one spell. Much too childish. Felix thought to himself. I have to find something that is going to cause a massive uproar. Something that will make these people believe I belong here. But, alas, all the other spells were far too complicted or advanced for the first year boy, no matter how smart he was.
He continued further into the book. He ran across a bunch of other spells that grabbed his attention, but few he could actually accomplish with his little amount of training. Finally, he came across a spell that he might be able to pull off. Diffindo, a second year spell. The green eyes boy looked up, scanning the room for an object on which to practice this new spell. He spotted a single book sitting on top of one of the tables across the room. Sure, it belonged to someone in Slytherin, but Felix didn't know who it belonged to. Ad it didn't belong to him, so what did he care? He didn't. He slid his wand out from under his robes and aimed at the book. No one around the common room noticed the boy, even though the rain had forced the majority of the house into the cramped dungeon. Felix focused, he focused with all his might. He parted his thin pale lips and barely uttered one solitary word. Diffindo. In that same second, someone stepped in the way of the path of the spell. So, instead of hitting the book, like he planned, he hit a fellow, more than likely older, Slytherin student with a potentially harmful spell. His jaw dropped as he saw blood splatter from the leg of the person. This can't go well.
Another letter from his mother, saying the situations getting worse by the day. He never needed reminding, getting out of that house was the most important. But staying in his dorm to write a reply, was begining to be unthinkable. His dormmates were all glaring at him the whole time. He got a few textbooks and went down to the common room.
Joshua was one of those guys who liked to pick a spot and claim it as his. He didn't care who else sat around him, but that spot was his. He sat down in the chair and pulled out his potions book to write on. He put the parchment on top and started writing the Japanese symbols that his mother could understand. He wrote that school was great, he was happy, and he hadn't been in any fights lately.
After finishing the letter, Jua felt the need to use the rest room and left his potions book sitting on a table. On his way back he felt a sudden pang in his leg. "OW!" He yelled. There was blood coming from his leg and he wondered who. "Dere ga?" He asked, not caring he was speaking Japanese. "Dere ga??" he heard someone across the room shout "Shut up, Rukko." but he hardly cared. He was ready to duel whoever just hit him. He scanned the room and noticed a little first year near by he yelled, pointing at the boy. "Anata!! Kimi no warui!" He gave his meanest glare to the boy, letting his leg bleed.
{Translations: dere ga? = who? ; Anata! = You! ; Kimi no warui! = Your fault! }

Felix couldn't pull his eyes away from the leg of his accidental victim. His green eyes were fixed, and his moth was partially open as he stared, unblinkingly. Thoughts ran through his head so quickly that he had no time to grasp one. He could hear a distant murmur in some other language. Then he heard a faint voice. "Shut up, Rukko!" It seemed to come from over a mile away, although it only came from across the dungeon. The thoughts running through Felix's head came to a sudden stop and rested on one solitary word. The sounds around him seemed to come into focus again. He lifted his eyes, mouth still slightly open, and found the eyes of the person that went along with the name that had stopped his thoughts - Jua Rukko, a fourth year. The gibberish that he had heard so distantly before was Japanese.
Just as his eyes met the boy's face, the boy noticed him. Jua was a whole lot bigger than Felix and, therefore, much more intimidating. When he pointed at him and spoke in gibberish again, Felix gulped and straightened. Oh, crap. He attempted to flatten himself against the damp stone wall. Not good. Not good. Not good. The blonde boy attempted to hide his wand, which he realized was still visible. "Uh ... Hi." He could not, however, hide the fear in his voice.

Anger was a mildly put term for the thoughts racing through Jua's mind. He was more furious than a mother polar bear whose cubs were taken away and she had to watch them die. He could be that mother polar bear with the anger, and even add in if she were to contract rabies and carry that blind anger. Only Joshua's anger was not blind. It was focused and just as strong. This was one of those times when Jua's dormmates even shied away from him. They just wanted no part in what his anger could do.
"Uh ... Hi."
Jua glared at hyim and made a mental note. If he wanted just revenge, he needed to speak in English. Jua did better than his sister about switching languages. Their mom just had issues with English as a whole. The only person better than Jua at switching languages was Yuki Rukko. That thought was more fuel to the anger Jua held. The anger about being secod to his father, and therefore being able to take that abuse combined with his anger for this first year. Something was going to result.
Jua sighed and resigned himself to English. He spoke in an eerie calm, and his words were as clear as they were soft. "What right did you have? Come in here and chop somoene's leg to pieces?' Jua put a hand on his bloody leg and felty a single cut. "A first year you must be, for I haven't seen your face previously in year. I'm guessing you'r messing with older spells. This must be diffendo. A second year spell." Joshua knew that if a first year could master a second year spell, they were a powerful wizard indeed. However, Joshua was one himself. Unfortunatly for this unnammed first year- he was asking for some trouble. "A ketto then, a duel. I challenge you. No seconds, just revenge." Jua smiled evily. This was his chance to show off the 5th year spell he'd mastered the other day. It only took him two tries, but it was worth it. There was still one problem with the spell, but if it came down to the wire, he was ready. Of course, simple measures could finish the duel before it got to the point where he might get in trouble, though that would not be a first.

Felix didn't dare take his eyes away from Jua's. He didn't know this boy personally, only by reputation. It's said that Jua Rukko was a powerful wizard. As this thought crept its way into the mind of the first year boy, Felix began to really wish that he hadn't stopped on this particular spell. He was still backing into the wall, which still wasn't moving, when the fourth year began to speak. It seemed as if a century had passed, and that century had calmed the older boy's nerves, for he spoke in the calmest voice that Felix could have imagioned for one who just got his leg sliced open. The calmness of the boy scared Felix more than his accidental attack on the boy.
"What right did you have? Come in here and chop somoene's leg to pieces? A first year you must be, for I haven't seen your face previously in year. I'm guessing you'r messing with older spells. This must be diffendo. A second year spell."
What? Is this kid Yoda or something? Felix tried not to contort his face too bad, but he had to twist it into a confused but somewhat frightened look. Is he serious? The blonde boy gulped down air, because by now his mouth had gone completely dry, trying to literally swallow his fear. "Uh. Yeah. I'm a first year." Felix cleared his mind and thought without fear for about a second. It was during that second that he realized that burrowing himself into the corner probably wasn't the best way to get the respect he so desired from his fellow Slytherins. Therefore, he swelled up his scraawny little chest as much as he could, gathered up all his courage, and spoke to the older boy without his voice shaking. "And what of it?"
"A ketto then, a duel. I challenge you. No seconds, just revenge."
Felix could feel his chest deflate like a popped balloon, all his courage going along with it. With that one word, Felix saw everything he had ever worked for look like nothing. Everything he had worked for this whole year was for nothing. It was evident in his mind that Jua Rukko was going to be the end of Felix Ash. His jaw dropped and his face felt like it would melt. A duel. Not a duel. Anything but a duel. The few months he had spent in the school had not prepared him for a duel. Maybe in a few years, but not now. Not as a first year. His heart was sinking at the mere thought of being killed on this dark and dreary day. But he could not back down from this challenge, not if he was to survive the next six years as a true Slytherin. He shut his eyes for the first time since casting the spell. The split second of darkness seemed like years, years in which he hoped this catastrophe would pass. He took a deep breath, possibly one of the last ones he would ever take, before speaking again. "OK, Rukko. But what will beating a lowly first year in a duel prove to anyone? You are three years older than I."
