THERE'S a sign at the entrance to Australia Zoo that says: 'Have a ripper day'.
Steve Irwin's son, Bob, certainly had one of those for his third birthday yesterday.
Most kids have a cake and a handful of friends by their side when they turn three but Bob had an entire wildlife park and thousands of well-wishers on hand to celebrate his big day in style.
It's usually the crocodiles and the snakes getting all the attention at Australia Zoo but it was all about Bob yesterday as Humphrey B Bear, the Smurfs and Noddy joined in.
Free entry for children, which included prizes, cakes, rides and face painting, attracted 4000 people into the Crocoseum to sing Bob happy birthday.
Terri Irwin emerged for the cake cutting holding Bob's hand and with Bindi smiling away by her side before Humphrey re-appeared, much to the birthday boy's delight.
Dressed in the trademark khakis that made his dad famous, Bob was happy to join his mum in giving Humphrey a big hug but squirmed away from Terri's attempts to kiss him after blowing out his candles.
But he couldn't escape mum's kisses for long.
It was a big occasion for the junior Crocodile Hunter despite the concerns about how he is coping with the death of his father.
Months after his shock death Steve Irwin is still entertaining millions worldwide.
Irwin's voice features in Village Roadshow's latest animated blockbuster, Happy Feet, which knocked the new James Bond film off the top spot at the US box office.

That was (I am sure) hard for Terri. She had to watch her son celebrate his birthday without getting a hug from his Dad. It is tough to see. It is good that their family is so supportive.
