Yes, he was chubby in his earlier films.
And yes, he has a hot brother that, at times, steals his thunder.
But you have to realize that this man has transformed himself from dud to stud.
In this clip from 'Tomcats' we get a nice view of Mr. O'Connell's 'ass'ets.
