Jesse Bowen
Sorry abvout posting it in the wrong spot. I was running a bit short on time.
Name: Liz
Email: Luny Lupy Lupin@aol.com
Age: 17
Code: Hermione Granger
Name: Jesse Tyler Bowen
Original Character
Age/year: 16/sixth year
Birthday: October 13
Blood type: half-blood; mum was muggleborn
Wand: Dragon heartstring, oak, 14 inches
Pet: tawny owl called Shay
House: Gryffindor
Why:
Jesse has always been an outgoing boy. As a child he was always the first to try something new even if it might have seemed dangerous. He has always made it a point to overcome his fears. He also simply hates being afraid of something. It makes him feel weak. As such, he finds courage to be and admirable quality in people. Jesse may be clever and a bit of a troublemaker, but, all in all, the sorting hat felt that his courageous and loyal nature would suit him best in Gryffindor.
Physical Appearance:
Jesse Bowen is a tall and lanky Englishman. He is 5’ 10” tall and weighs 168 lbs. He is not particularly muscular, but has a lean look about him. He has large feet and hands, but they are in proportion to his height. He has never been able to kick the habit of biting his nails. He tried to quit once and did not last more than a week. He tends to do this most often when he gets nervous. Suffice to say, his nails are always dreadfully short.
His features are soft and almost childlike, giving him the appearance of innocence. His nose is on the smaller side, a trait he inherited from his mother’s side of the family. From his father he managed to adopt his lop-sided grin. His eyes are almond-shaped and a brilliant shade of sapphire. His hair is between three and four inches long, with a bit of body to it, and it is a rich shade of russet. It has the strange quality of looking hopelessly messy and perfectly styled at the same time.
His wardrobe is a style all it’s own. Jesse wears whatever his heart so desires. He mostly can be found wearing form-fitting t-shirts with logos on them: The Weird Sisters, Rebel Alliance, etc. Occasionally there will be a long sleeved shirt underneath them. He switches pant styles quite often, baggy jeans, girl pants, and boy shorts all suit him fine. He also wears his share of jewelry. Not to a point where one might wonder about him though. He wears his dragon fang earrings and necklace and his seashell bracelet, all the time. Ah yes, Jesse cannot be found anywhere without his classic black chucks or brown vans either.
Personality:
Jesse is a very outgoing person. He just loves being around people. He is most often the first to speak when among strangers. He is also quite laid back in his ways. In fact, very little can set him off. The few things that can are: Filch and Snape, or when someone goes after his friends or family, whom he is very protective of and loyal to. When this happens, he tends to throw caution to the wind and plot his revenge. This usually results in a prank of some sort with the aide of his friends. He’s not above a sound verbal lashing though. He has a sharp wit, but he has never yet resorted to physical violence as a solution to his problems. As aforementioned, he is known as something of a troublemaker. He has had his share of detentions, and has gotten to know Filch’s office pretty well.
Jesse admires honesty in people, and he himself will never lie to the people he loves. He might come up with some overly elaborate explanations to get himself out of trouble from time to time, though. He tends to avoid schoolwork when he can, but if he finds he’s interested in a subject he will see it through to then end. He hates unfinished business, so he never does anything “half-way”. He’s actually a hard worker when he sets his mind to it.
Jesse is a very patient person. He has a very long attention span, which is good because he loves to read or write for hours at a time. This also makes him a good listener because he does not have a tendency to become uninterested in what’s being said. He has a very good memory and can recall things that happened to him at the age of three. Thus saying, he remembers people who have irritated him rather easily. He does try to give everyone a second chance, but he has a tendency to hold grudges.
Jesse’s greatest fear is not being in control of himself. Things such as losing consciousness and the idea of being mind controlled freak him out. He has material fears as well. Things such as poisonous snakes and manticores also frighten him, but loss of control is his intangible fear. He also has great plans for his future. He dreams of being a member of a famous band like the Weird Sisters and becoming a great musician/songwriter. He loves music and even plays guitar in his band called Rebel Alliance. He has even written a few of the songs they practice.
History:
Jesse was born and raised in a fully functional magical family. He has no uncles or aunts of any sort due to the fact that his mother was an only child and that his father’s brother, Kieran, and his wife, Hannah, were killed during Voldemort’s reign. He was too young to remember actually witnessing their deaths, as he was only two at the time.
Luckily for him, this does not haunt him. Since he was only shortly an only child, his parent never really spoiled him, which is the main reason he managed to stay levelheaded.
His father was very much like the child Jesse is currently. He is more like a child than an adult. As such, Jesse has always admired and looked up to his father. He aspired to be like him and is the main reasoning behind Jesse’s humourous nature. He has been entertaining people ever since he was five.
It came as no surprise when he received his letter by owl post. It was even less of a surprise when his parents received word that he had been sorted into Gryffindor. The hat had barely to touch his before proclaiming this to the Great Hall.
In little time Jesse discovered what classes would be his least favourite, and which ones would make the year worthwhile. He soon discovered an unknown love of astronomy. Something about the nighttime sky, the stars and planets just fascinated him. Sinistra then became his favourite teacher. He just as quickly discovered a deep loathing for Potions. The course itself wasn’t so very bad. In fact, he enjoyed potion brewing. Professor Snape managed to suck all the fun out of it for him, though.
Jesse progressed through his first two years at Hogwarts without many problems. He made friends easily enough. Two of his best friends were actually made in his second year: Owen Wong and Evan Deveau. They are two of the members of his band.
In his third year, Jesse discovered the guitar. This was the year that he and Evan’s little sisters attended Hogwarts. Jesse confided his newfound interest to his sister who, in turn, wrote to their parents. After much coaxing, they surprised him with a guitar of his own. He then taught himself how to play.
It was in his fourth year that he and his mates created their band. Owen came up with the name of the band, as he is muggle born and more or less a Star Wars fanatic. He and his friends had the best time practicing. Jesse played lead guitar, Owen played bass and sang back up, Evan was lead singer, and a friend Drake Sheldon played drums.
Things went well for them in their fifth year. They met many times in Hogsmeade to practice over the year. It wasn’t until the end of the year that a row as the result of differences in musical opinions left them without a drummer. Things seemed to be heading for a downward spiral until Jesse pulled them together. They continued their practices during the holiday, but plan to look for a new drummer at the start of their next term.
Role Play Sample:
He stared listlessly at the ceiling, watching the shadows the light from the fire cast upon it. He blew at the few bangs that had managed to obscure his vision, but gave up as it was a futile attempt. He sat up in his squashy armchair and glanced around at the empty common room from his awkward and yet strangely comfortable position. He didn’t really feel like getting up. The chair felt so very soft, but this was the reason he was still awake at two in the morning after all.
He stretched his arms and yawned groggily before leaping up off the chair. He slung his telescope bag over his shoulder and made his way towards the window. He had barely begun to set up the equipment when it began. He stared, slack-jawed, in awe at the nighttime sky.
Hundreds of meteors streaked through the sky: red streams of light strewn among the glittering white diamonds. A strange, satisfied, glint appeared in his eyes, and a faint smile touched his lips as he mentally recorded this moment. These were the moments he lived for.
“Bowen! It has long since passed curfew. Get back to your dormitory immediately,” the sharp voice of the head boy jerked him out of his thoughts.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m getting there. . .you git” He grumbled the last part under his breath.
