Other requirements ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, I have pulling down a few motor bikes and heads on cars etc, brakes and so on but I have not done a timing belt. Is it a difficult task ? Has anyone got a list of what is required on a 100 000 Km service - KZN185. PS. It hit 100 000 and the light came on, much relieved that there was no speedo windback. Other requirements ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- G'day Jeff, The timing belt on the 1KZ TE is the simplest I've ever done - and I've done abot a dozen. I didn't change the idler or tensioner as they checked out OK but I did remove them and reinstall them (obviously). I'm not sure about what else you could do in the service apart from the usual -all fluids, grease, filters, check brakes, valve clearances, rotate tyres, etc,etc,etc.......... At least one of us got what they paid for in regards to speedo readings. =========================================================== grebyn Centurion Posts: 236 (12/14/03 7:01 am ) 144.137.163.151 Reply | Edit | Del All Timing Belt - Geez I love these Surfs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timing Belt light came on the other day at 150,000km (was supposed to have been changed at 79,000km) so I thought I'd attempt the task myself. What a piece of cake. Required. 10mm ring spanner &/or socket & flat screwdriver. Removed the 4 bolts & 2 clips. Lifted the cover off. Removed 2 bolts from the tensioner. Replaced the tensioner Slid the belt on & replaced the cover after replacing the gasket. It actually took me longer to put the cover back on than anything else. 1 hour job was done.
