Keep those mobs from running away
Hi all.
This may be common knowledge, but I figured out something in L Guk last night that made my life easier, so I will share it.
I was having problems killing a minotaur, cause one of the froglok shamans had cast sow on him. I would bash him down, and he'd run away so fast I couldn't catch him. He'd run past other casters, get healed, and run back to me. Bit by bit, he started wearing me down, and I couldn't finish him off. I eventually did kill him, when another mino spawned nearby and joined in the fray. The mino with SOW didn't flee, since he wanted to gang-up on me with his buddy.
This discovery made me start using a tactic where I deliberately did not kill creatures of various types at near-by spawn points, so I could use them to keep the SOW-ed creatures from running. I.e. Leave a mino alive at one spawn point, and a frog at another. If you get into a fight with a SOW-ed mino, run to the mino you left alive, let it attack, and kill the one with SOW. Then, you can run out of the agro range of the spawn point, feign, and let the second mino wander back to his spawn point and forget you. I guess this only works if you can feign or otherwise make the mobs you're leaving alive forget you. You could always zone instead. Also, you'd have to be tuff enuf to withstand getting beat on by two things simultaneously.
