Kenton Grant Blackwit - Potion's Master
OOC
Name: Mallory (I messed up on Blaire’s Application and put in her info., so this is the real stuff)
Contacts: malloryp4@hotmail.com
Age: 16
Code: Rita Skeeter.
IC
Name: Kenton Grant Blackwit
Nickname(s): None
DOB: December 10th, 1969
Blood: Pureblood
Previous School/House: Graduated from Hogwarts, Slytherin house.
Subject To Teach: Potions
Qualifications: Potions Master for the Ministry of Magic, owned a Potion Apothecary in France, achieved highest N.E.W.Ts in Potions at Howgarts. Kenton is all together brilliant in Potions, and comes from a long line of family Potion Masters.
Physical Appearance: Kenton stands tall at 6’1’’ and his toned body gives him a weight of about 175 lbs. He has a fit figure, with lean muscles – as opposed to bulky ones - although he has quite large muscles in his arms from years of being a Beater on the Slytherin Quidditch team. He has a pale skin tone which hardly tans, not that he’s outside much anyway. One of his more engaging features is his piercing green eyes and fairly long, full eye lashes. He frequently has dark bags under his eyes that are mainly from not getting enough sleep, but they also are a genetic trait from his father. His eyes are accompanied by dark, thick eyebrows, which perfectly match the colour of his short black hair, which is usually modishly styled. He has thin, pasty lips and a narrow, slightly pointed noise.
Mr. Blackwit regularly visits spas for hair, skin, and nail treatments, as he is very concerned about having a proper appearance. His nails are more often than not seen pedicured and manicured and with skin that is very soft and blemish free. He enjoys wearing classy, traditional wizard wear from only the most expensive stores, and pricy rings, cuffs, and other jewellery – more particularly in gold. He prefers wearing dark colours and very simple designs. Most of the time, we wears some sort of cloak over his robes that is held together by yet another high-priced embellishment.
Although he clothing very much sets off a conventional, high-class vibe, his face does not show as much sentiment. The only emotion he shows is angry, which is clearly visible to the receiver with lowered, pursed eyebrows, an icy, narrow star, and a curled lip. The only happiness Kenton shows is a smirk from the pleasure and contentment of revenge or manipulation.
Personality: Kenton Blackwit is great at rearranging and perfecting things. He is practical, intelligent and is always on the move to get things done. The problem is that he gets so wrapped up analyzing a situation that he forgets his emotional side. Kenton is such a thinker, so analytical, that his feelings and emotions cloud his judgement and that of others. He is intolerant of people who make decisions based on their emotions, as he goes purely on the facts and thinks everyone else should too. He absolutely hates loud, disrespectful snobs. He is very hot-tempered, but keeps his mouth shut, expressing his deceit through his actions and gestures.
Kenton puts his career before everything, including family and friends. Of course, he wasn’t always such a workaholic. In fact, he use to be a great family man until his wife passed away. After her tragic death, Kenton seemed to have taken a very dark, hidden personality, which makes him very reclusive to people. He’s developed a deceitful, ignorant, and obsessed personality, although Kenton may be able to show his charming side by conjuring up witty and intellectual remarks, if he chooses to do so. He’s always fulfilling his constant need to be moving by organizing and reorganizing everything he comes across. His natural trait of being a detail-oriented perfectionist seems to have thickened to cover up his emotions and prevents himself from involving himself with people. Kenton’s brilliance and great attention to detail has put him towards a downfall since the death of his dearly loved, and has caused him to imagine imperfections in himself and others that are really not there. He has gradually and unknowingly been developing Schizophrenia since the tragic night in August. As well as Schizophrenia, Kenton, like Blaire, has been developing a dislike for muggles and muggleborns. As he is a teacher, he covers his dislike in front of other adults, but he may hold grudges towards particular muggleborn students.
As a teacher, Professor Blackwit is very strict, professional, and manipulative. He has very high expectations from the students, expecting them to be as intelligent in their work as someone like his daughter, Blaire. He expects no talking, well disciplined students, and if someone goes out of that expectation, he will be more than happy to deduct points or give out detentions (with few exceptions for the Slytherin students). He gets straight to the point and is a hard marker, so all of his students need to work particularly hard to get decent grades. He will nearly always be found working in his office, wandering the dungeons, or, on occasion, off to help the Ministry with any potion-related issues.
History: Kenton Grant Blackwit was born the second son of Walter Blackwit and Celia Vexington. He was born and grew up in the family mansion in Kent County, England, where the Blackwit family has lived for thousand of years. His parents were both purebloods, descendents of a long line of pureblood families. Although proud purebloods, the Blackwit family was never too discriminatory against muggles and never took sides with Voldemort, although believed he was a very powerful wizard. Most of the time, the family kept to themselves, interacting with few other wizarding families.
Kenton had a very wonderful childhood. He enjoyed playing games with his brother Chester (who is 4 years older than him). His mother was a traditional mother, doing all the baking and cleaning, with, of course, the help of the family house elf. Kenton’s father was a potion’s master at Durmstrang, and his father was also a potion’s master, and his father’s father, and so on. Although he didn’t get to spend much time with his father as a child, as he was gone to Durmstrang for almost all of the time, he was never treated horrible wrong, and him and his father held a fairly satisfactory relationship. Kenton idolized his father and his great magical abilities, but he dare never told his father that he loved him or wish he was with him more, for Walter was a very “manly”, unemotional person. His mother was always spending time with Kenton, trying to make up for the lack of attention he got from his father. Other than emotional abuse from his father, Kenton and his family lived a pretty normal, wizarding life.
It is obvious that Kenton was fit as a wizard. Most apparently, he showed an extraordinary talent for potions. When his father would have the opportunity, he would teach his son how to brew various potions. By the age of 10, he was able to make simple, basic potions. However, his first magical experience took place when Kenton was 7. The summer had just ended and his father was about to leave the house once again to return to Durmstrang. Kenton didn’t want his father to go, and when he started crying and his father yelled at him, his emotions turned into anger. As his father continued to mock the child for “crying like a baby”, Kenton’s angry forced a row book shelves that was located near Walter to detach from the wall, sending a vast amount of books flying in every direction. As his parents dodged the flying books, Kenton stormed off onto his room, almost completely unaware that his strong emotion had provoked magic.
Kenton never had too many friends, and usually was found hanging along side his older brother. Although, few friends Kenton did have were from pureblood wizarding families that were the sons and daughters of his parent’s friends. When he wasn’t trailing behind his brother, or visiting families with his parents, he was deep into books and testing out different potions and charms. Most of which he enjoyed practicing on his very annoyed brother. When his eleventh birthday came rolling along, Kenton was more than thrilled to receive a letter from Durmstrang, as he would be able to see his father all the time. But, his parents had other plans in mind. They had both attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and on the account that Kenton had also received a letter from Hogwarts, they forced it upon him to attend the British school. Kenton was most fuming with his parents, but the mere thought of being able to attend school, even if it wasn’t Durmstrang, enthused him. Because his mother felt sorry for the boy for forcing him away from Durmstrang, on the day before he was to leave for Hogwarts, she bought him an extravagant, rare ferruginous hawk. Leaving Kent with his adored hawk, which he decided to name Ajax, and a suit case, Kenton set off to the King’s Cross where he boarded the train to Hogwarts.
Like any other kids’ first day at Hogwarts, Kenton was nervous. Luckily, a few of his friends were also attending Hogwarts, and he was able to hang out with them most of the time due to the fact that they were all put in Slytherin, probably because of their pureblood background. If it wasn’t for those few acquaintances he had with friends of the family, Kenton and his very introverted personality wouldn’t have made so many friends. He adjusted well to Hogwarts and enjoyed the school, regretting the thought of ever wanting to going to Durmstrang. He struggle in few classes in the start, but quickly made his way up, getting fairly high marks in all of his subjects, particularly Potions. If he had to choose a subject he didn’t so much care for, it would have been Herbology, mainly because Kenton didn’t like being outside for so long. Kenton developed a close group of friends, and enjoyed the school, not having any problems and simply enjoying life. When summer had come, Kenton continued to hang around his brother, but because Chester had learned to ignore his younger brother at school, Kenton began to hang out more with his friend. He spent the other part of the summer reading books and practicing magic.
When the second year began, Kenton returned to school much more confident. He sustained the same high marks, and continued to particularly work on potions. Although a few people were added to his group of friends (which were both girls), he continued to hang out with the same Slytherin folk. In Kenton’s second year, he and his mates began to start to get a reputation as the school bullies as they were often found making fun of students in other houses. Through his bullying brought him confidence, and through his confidence brought him popularity. Soon enough, Kenton found himself high on the social ladder. However, when summer came along once again, Kenton covered up his bad-boy attitude around his parents, keeping them with their idea of him being their good, smart little boy. He rarely hung out with his brother and hung out more with his friends, without forgetting about studying of course.
As the third year came along, Kenton’s marks were dropping as him and his friends were becoming more popular and more of bullies. Of course, he continued to receive brilliant marks in Potions. He started noticing girls more, as any typical teen would, but more so became particularly interested in Quidditch. The Slytherin team was looking for a new beater that year, and when Kenton got his mother to send him the most expensive broomstick she could find and tried out for the team, he discovered he showed a great talent for the position. His talent led him on to make the team, which alas didn’t help much with his schoolwork. However, Kenton was a great beater, his popularity rose even more and he was overjoyed when Slytherin won the Quidditch Cup. When summer came along once again, he found himself practicing Quidditch more and more with his friends. However, he found it very hard to do so as his parents forced him to stay inside and study most of the time due to his poor marks. Kenton began to get angry at his parents more often, and more so at his father, whom he felt had no right to tell him what to do, seeing as he was never really a father in the first place.
As him and his father’s relationship started to fall, Kenton found himself back for his fourth year at Hogwarts as one of the most popular guys in Slytherin. Although, he did begin to realize he needed to concentrate on work, so he studied hard, while still being able to keep practicing for Quidditch. Eventually, he regained his high marks once again. Kenton also realized that he greatly despised Divination, which he had regretfully decided to take that year. Through his busy schedule between school and Quidditch, Kenton found it hard to have the time for girls. He stuck with the same group of friends, who had now developed a very trust-worthy, strong friendship. Slytherin managed to win the Quidditch Cup once again, as well as the House Cup. Kenton’s summer was full of the same sort of things he had been doing in his previous summer, and he was allowed to play Quidditch more, seeing as he was in the top of his classes. He continued to show a rebellion towards his dad, who had grow accustomed to his sons angry attitude and decided to avoid his son as much as possible. Walter Blackwit was almost always working away in his study and he was distancing farther and farther from his family.
When Kenton’s fifth year began, he was used to working around a busy schedule of studying and Quidditch. He managed to have a few girlfriends and experience his first kiss. He was simply enjoying life as it was, and Slytherin managed to win the House and Quidditch cup once again. His exciting school life made Kenton almost completely forget about family troubles, and was aggrieved to have the summer return once again. Kenton tried to leave the house as much as he could to get away from his family and began to show a rebellious side.
As his six year came along, Kenton started studying more and more for O.W.Ls. He continued with Quidditch, and although he promised himself he wouldn’t fuss with girls, he fell in love with a girl by the name of Adrienne Beaumont, who was a Slytherin like himself. They started dating and although he tried to spend as much time with her as he could, he remained dedicated to his schoolwork and position on the Quidditch team. By the end of the year, he achieved Os on all of his O.W.Ls and was made captain for the Slytherin Quidditch team for the next year. Slytherin was once again the winners of both school cups.
Kenton’s seventh year was very much like his sixth, and he was glad to get away from home once again. He and Adrienne were falling more and more in love. Through lots of studying and practice, Kenton achieved high marks in his N.E.W.Ts, receiving the highest grade for Potions. He led his Quidditch team to another victory for the Cup, and Slytherin was the winner of the House Cup once again. Kenton graduated with great memories and great hopes for life after Hogwarts.
His high marks lead him to immediately be asked to be an apprentice to the Ministry’s Potion Master, who was reaching a lofty age. Although Voldemort was beginning to rise once again, Kenton had no concern as his family and friends were all purebloods and weren’t set as victims to Voldemort’s killings. Him and Adrienne continued on with their relationship, and in 1992, they got married. That same year, Kenton was fortunate enough to discover that Adrienne was pregnant with their daughter Blaire, and that he would be replacing his former boss’s position as Potion master for the ministry.
Kenton and Adrienne decided to buy a beautiful stone brick house in Provence, France, where Adrienne’s family was from. When Blaire was born, Kenton fell completely in love with their daughter, and although he was very busy with work, he tried to find any way he could to spend time with her. He found out his little girl had a flare for potions and was most enthusiastic to teach her about the art. He greatly loved his family and he had a great job. Over the years after graduating, Kenton was able to make emends with his parents and he enjoyed taking his daughter and wife to visit them in England every so often. With the money he was bringing in, he also decided to buy a house near his family in England. Life was once again very good for Kenton and his family.
As Blaire got older, Kenton found he had to work more and wasn’t able to spend as much time with his daughter. Not only was he busy with cases from the ministry, but he had also started up a Potion Apothecary in Provence. When Blaire was invited to go to Beauxbatons, he was upset that she wasn’t going to attend Hogwarts, but was happy that she had such a magical interest. Kenton got to watch his little girl grow up, though at a distance, as he was working most of the time.
In 2008, most horrible news struck when his wife Adrienne was brutally murdered by a muggle cult who hunted witches and wizards. Kenton felt his life was over, he wasn’t able to eat or sleep or even be there for his daughter who was suffering just as much as he was. He buried himself in work to attempt to rid of the pain. He became extremely introverted and felt like he was going crazy. He wasn’t even aware of the Second War that was rising in the Magical world, but then again, he never really felt affected by Voldemort in the first place. If anything, it was the magic-hating muggles that were the greatest enemies. Either way, Kenton felt he needed to get away from the Provence house, which seemed to haunt him with memories of the one he loved so much, and decided to permanently move to Kent where he would be around family. Blaire seemed to be taking the news horrendously, but he couldn’t help himself, let alone his daughter. He enrolled her in Hogwarts and hoped for the best. Blaire was the only thing he had left anymore, and he wanted to provide her with the finest of everything. The ministry was starting to realize Kenton’s great plunge into depression, and because there wasn’t much work for him at the ministry in a while, advised him to become a Potion’s Master at Hogwarts, where there was currently an open position. For a few months, Kenton pondered over the thought, and although he was not in for it at first, a sudden realization came over him as November came along, and he recognized that returning to Hogwarts would probably be the best thing for him, and perhaps Blaire. So, as November began, Kenton set off to his old school.
Role Play Sample: Kenton was sitting in an old, black, comfy arm chair looking into the flames of the fireplace that was located in front of him. It was getting late, and he wasn’t sure why he hadn’t left the house yet to go to Hogwarts. He had told the Headmaster he would arrive on November 12th, and it was nearing midnight on that very day. Yet, he felt frozen in his chair. He didn’t want to leave the comfort of his home to teach bratty kids. But he had to. He couldn’t stay like this forever. He had to do something, especially for Blaire. He loved his daughter so much, but for so long, hadn’t shown it. Especially at this time, when something so drastic was happening to the both of them. As he sat with one arm on the arm of the big chair, supporting his head with two of his fingers, he let himself get taken into the flames of the fire once again. He didn’t like feeling. He didn’t like these emotions that were stirring inside him. He like facts. Practicality. Things that he was sure of. Not these sentiments that made men weak. He cleared his throat and stood up. As he turned around to retrieve his trunk from upstairs, he saw a sudden movement in the dark shadows of the corridor. “Who’s there?” Kenton said in a loud, demanding voice. He took out his wand and headed towards the dark shadows. “Lumus”. A golden beam released from his wand and lightened up the entire area around him. There was nothing there. Kenton put away his wand. It was late. He was just tired, that’s all.
After he had gotten his belongings altogether, Kenton made no hesitation to apparate. In an instance he was in front of the big wooden doors of Hogwarts. He was finally back again. Back to a place full of great memories. A place that Kenton was sure to provoke the best of him. He was glad he had decided to become Potion’s Master at Hogwarts. This was going to be the best thing he could have right now. Or the worse. He wasn’t too sure. He was overanalyzing things again. He was at Hogwarts, and that was all he needed to know. And once Kenton was able to chase away his emotions once again he stepped inside the enormous castle-like doors and made his way to the darkened dungeons. He would begin preparing for tomorrow’s lesson right away.
