Keoki Sampera
Name: Keoki Sampera

Age: 15

Grade: 10th

Appearance: Keoki is a Naga. In this world, the Naga are a race who dwell in the mountains, caverns and forests. They are vaguely humanoid in appearance, with arms, hair, ears and whatnot, but their legs are replaced by a long, muscular, serpentine tail used for constricting and movement.

Keoki's whole body is covered with smooth, glistening scales from head to tail. The majority are white, with silver marks all over his body. His chest and belly scales are a creamy yellow. His long, golden hair is usually held in a braided ponytail by a blue ribbon. His irises are an icy blue and his pupils are thin, black slits. Both eyes are surrounded by a silver mark. By Naga standards, he is not stunning, but he has a certain ‘pretty-ness’ to him.

Keoki wears fairly modern, casual clothing when lacking a uniform. His favoured outfit indoors is a simple, button-up tartan shirt and a green neckerchief. Outside, he adds to the ensemble with a hoodie that is primarily red with a black hood and pouch. Since he has a tail rather than legs, he does not wear lower body clothing of any kind. If he is out hunting, he wears a belt, hidden beneath his clothes, with two holsters for his knives.

Personality: Keoki is usually a peaceful and laid-back Naga, who enjoys nothing more than coiling himself around a tree branch and staring sleepily up at the skies above until sleep takes him. Since coming to civilisation, he has discovered a taste for old-school rock 'n' roll and has learned how to play the drums.

Like all Nagas, his favourite food is meat, and he likes to leave his prey with just a touch of life so he can feel them squirm as they slip down his throat towards his powerful stomach. He does not eat live meat so much nowadays because of his new surroundings, but can never resist a steak or even just a cheeseburger (something he has discovered to be quite fond of). Despite this somewhat gruesome preference, Keoki also likes to eat fruit, his three favourites being apples, cherries and strawberries. He has a sweet tooth and enjoys chocolate as well, unless there are nuts in it, since he is allergic. He can drink a lot of alcohol before getting drunk, inheriting the same steel-hard constitution of his father and grandfather, both of whom drank a lot of ale, especially at celebrations.

Keoki’s main flaw is his wild affection for the fairer sex. He is constantly thinking about girls, and loves trying to woo them. The problem is that it makes the job easier for female hunters looking for a piece of fine Nagahide. Thankfully, more often than not, he is able to make a getaway with his tail between his (metaphorical) legs.

Keoki has two known phobias. The first is aviophobia, the fear of flying, which is common in young Nagas. Since the natural enemy of snakes is birds, many Nagas are forced to conquer this fear should they be caught unawares and lifted into the air. After all, a warrior paralysed in fear is hardly going to be able to save himself. His second, more personal phobia, is taphephobia, the fear of being buried alive.

Special Powers:

1. Sense of smell: Keoki has an extremely potent sense of smell (or taste, to be exact: like snakes, he can ‘taste’ the air using his forked tongue). Despite being more powerful and with a wider range than a human's sense of smell, Keoki must still be within a certain distance. This sense can also be used against him - he may inadvertently pick up terrible stenches or knock-out formulas such as chloroform and gases.

2. Heat detection: Keoki can sense the heat emissions from living creatures, allowing him to fight even in pitch-blackness. This power works on the same basis as smell or sight, meaning that Keoki must be within a certain range of whatever or whomever is giving off said emissions.

History: Keoki was born to Taran and Eilonwy Sampera in the village of Amphisbae, and is the latest in a long line of warrior princes. While not the heir to the throne (such an honour must first be taken by his father, and then his older brother Culain), Keoki was given the title ‘Lughmas,’ or ‘angel of the sun,’ for his brilliant white scales and golden hair. As one of the highest titles one can be given at birth in Naga society, this meant he was the first in almost a thousand years and according to mythology, he was the embodiment of the sun’s warmth.

Like all males in his world, Keoki began his warrior training when he was just three years old, barely out of the cradle. He learned fast, but strangely enough, he did not like to use the bow or the spear, and found an affinity with hunting knives, using them with extraordinary skill that even impressed the grim and gritty Chieftain. In his time, Keoki has not fought in any wars, but he has shown to be a capable hunter and a promising soldier.

Keoki, however, became bored with life in the village. Sure, there were plenty of lovely Nagi (female Naga) and the food and ale were inexhaustible, but it was the fact that nothing new ever happened and he was tired of seeing the same sights all the time. He spoke with his mother, the chief healer Eilonwy, regarding this problem, and she revealed that like her son, she too was growing tired of their life.

After long talks with Fflewddur and Taran, the chieftain and next-in-line agreed that Eilonwy could take Keoki and their youngest, Adraste, elsewhere, whilst the elder family members continued their duties in Amphisbae, however they were to return every year for Pythonidae, a sacred Naga festival that lasts for precisely one week.

As one can guess, the Naga did not find it easy to gain lodgings in the city, where they were either ridiculed or pursued by the press. Eventually, the three Samperas encountered Klaus Garkone, a wealthy and retired cryptozoologist, who had studied Nagas for a long time, and even shared some of their customs. He agreed to allow the family to stay with him and even provided them transport for their annual visit home. In return, they had to join his housekeeping staff. They managed to settle into that arrangement very well. Then one day, Garkone suggested that Keoki become a student at Manga High School, where he could meet others his own age and fit in better for his less-than-normal faculties. How he managed to gain such knowledge of the establishment is not entirely known, and it is believed he may have been a student himself in the past.

Among the misfits and phenomena of the school, Keoki has realised that his gracious host was not kidding. Or at least, not as much he once believed.

EXAMPLE ROLE-PLAYING POST: The door of the room was nicely locked to keep those bothersome creatures out of his own little world. Ichabod’s jacket lay discarded on the back of a wooden chair. He was knelt down beside his bed, hands clapped together and eyes closed in prayer. A large book with black, leathery covers and yellowed pages lay open in front of him. Creatures of chaos and entropy took up half the book, the Old Gods of cosmic evil. Those of tranquility and justice took up the other, the Old Gods of cosmic good. He took a thin, ceremonial knife from the draw of his bedside cabinet and raised his free hand into the air.
“Great Old One, sleeper in R’lyeh, whisperer in the darkness…I give you my life…” he made a quick cut across his exposed palm. It was not deep, but very red. Like a flower of carnage opening up in his grasp.
        “…I give you my soul…”
Another cut crossed extended from the first. With each quiet declaration, he added another thin, red flower.
        “…my body…”
        “…my devotion…”
        “…and my protection.”
Ichabod lay on his back, panting for air. He dropped the knife and it stuck in the floor. His wounded hand fell beside him. He had carved a pentagram into his skin. A sure sign that he would never forget his reason for existing. His purpose. The dark red blood flowed off his skin and across the floor, darkening it like poor, makeshift varnish. The metallic smell flooded his nostrils. A runny, Satanic pimpernel.
“One day, the stars will be right,” he said through quick bursts of hyper-air. “That day will come soon. Until then…Cthulhu…fhtagn.”
He closed his eyes and grinned widely, then started to laugh. It sounded heartful and pure, but had that underlying sense of a diseased, rotten heart of lunacy pumping away inside his oily, black shell. His blood was poison and his soul was green slime, like the muck covering the vaults in ancient R’lyeh.

The muck of an ancient warrior. A conquerer. An enforcer. Judge, jury and goddamn executioner all rolled into one.

“Oh, when the stars are right,” he tittered, “I’ll be there to greet you, Master, Great Dead Dread Old God.” Another burst of guttural, greasy laughter.

Ichabod sat on a chair in the corner of his room, dressed only in jeans and socks, his hands in his lap. The gore flowers had since healed, leaving a series of brown scars in his palm. The blood had dried, and looked like a crusty, red glove. It cracked and crumbled like old cake icing when he tensed. Ichabod smiled as the pentagram in his hand began to show itself beneath the crimson surface.
He curled up on ther chair and slept, allowing the blood to slowly drop off of his skin and patter on the floor.
When he awoke, it was once again night. It was the nights that Ichabod enjoyed most about this world. He despised the brightness of day. When it was night, he could look at the stars and remind himself that one day they would be right. When it was night, he could quench his bloodlust and satisfy his urge for combat. When it was night, Dread Guardian could hunt.

Re: Keoki Sampera
Everything looks good to me. There's only one thing I would like you to do though, and that is to describe a Naga in your appearace for those who don't know what one is.
