Click here for information on this speciesKippa is a juvenile Green Turtle who was found floating in a storm water drain in a weakened state. 'Floater' turtles are unable to forage effectively because gas accumulation in the intestine or coelomic (abdominal) cavity prevents them from submerging. In Kippa’s case the gas was caused by a serious intestinal infection called 'coccidiosis'. Kippa responded very quickly to anti-coccidial treatment and good nutrition and is now able to submerge. He has been transferred to our large turtle pool and will be released into the wild as soon as the infection has completely cleared.
